Memory-epigenetics which is the loss of memory due to epigenetic modifications can be due to the silencing of genes involved in cognitive functions and this is the basis of the current *** hypothesize that a diet containing high methionine and low vitamins can lead to memory impairment by increasing global DNA methylation and therefore,silencing the netrin-1 gene,which encodes the glycoprotein involved in neurogenesis,axonal guidance and maintenance of the synaptic *** type(C57 BL/6 J) mice were fed with a diet containing excess methionine(1.2%),low-folate(0.08 mg/kg),vitamin B_6(0.01 mg/kg),and B_(12)(10.4 mg/kg) for 6 *** were examined weekly for the long-term memory function,using a passive avoidance test,which determined loss of fear-motivated long-term memory starting from the fourth week of ***,an increase in brain %5-methyl cytosine was observed starting from the 4 th week of diet in *** fed with a high methionine,low folate and vitamins containing diet showed a decrease in netrin-1 protein expression and an increase in netrin-1 gene promotor methylation,as determined by methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme-polymerase chain reaction *** increase in methylation of netrin-1 gene was validated by high-resolution melting and sequencing ***,the association of netrin-1 with memory was established by administering netrin that considerably restored long-term fear motivated *** together,these results suggest that a diet rich in methionine and lacking in folate and vitamin B_6/B_(12) can induce defects in learning and ***,the data indicates that decrease in netrin-1 expression due to hyper-methylation of its gene can be associated with memory *** animal procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee,University of Louisville,USA(No.A3586-01) on February 2,2018.

In vivo subsite classification and diagnosis of oral cancers using Raman spectroscopy

Oral cancers suffer from poor disease free survival rates due to delayed ***,rapid,objective approaches as adjuncts to visual inspection can help in better management of oral *** spectrosoopy(RS)has shown potential in identification of oral premalignant and malignant conditions and also in the detection of early cancer changes like cancer field ffects(CFE)at buccal mucosa *** differences between different oral subsites have also been reported using *** this study,anatomical differences between subsites and their possible infuence on healthy vs pathological classification were evaluated on 85 oral cancer and 72 healthy *** were acquired from buccal mucosa,lip and tongue in healthy,contralateral(internal healthy control),premalignant and cancer conditions using fiber optic Raman *** spectra indicate predominance of lipids in healthy buccal mucosa,contribution of both lipids and proteins in lip while major dominance of protein in tongue *** healthy to tumor,changes in protein secondary structure,DNA and heme related features were *** component linear discriminant analysis(PC-LDA)followed by leave one out CrOoss-validation(LOOCV)was used for data *** gs indicate buccal mucosa and tongue are distinct entities,while lip misclassifies with both these ***,the diagnostic algorithm for individual subsites gave improved classification efficiencies with respect to the pooled subsites ***,as the pooled subsites model yielded 98%specifcity and 100%sensitivity,this model may be more useful for preliminary screening ***-scale validation studies are a pre requisite before envisaging future clinical applications.

Objective:To evaluate the survival outcomes for a cohort of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension(ICE)treated with induction chemotherapy(ICT)followed by chemo-intensity-modulated radiotherapy(CTRT)at a tertiary cancer ***:We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients with histologically proven,non-metastatic NPC with ICE treated at our institute between October 2008 and October *** were classified as minor ICE or major ICE,based on the extent of *** the patients received 2-3 cycles of a taxane-based ICT regimen followed by *** was delivered with"riskadapted"intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)technique in all ***:After a median follow up of 45 months(range:8-113 months),the estimated 5-year DFS,LRFS,DMFS,and OS of the entire cohort was 58%,82%,67%and 74%*** multivariate analysis,histological subtype was an independent predictor of LRFS,and age was an independent predictor of *** extent of ICE showed only a trend towards worse DFS(P=0.06).None of the factors significantly predicted for DMFS or ***,N-stage,and response to ICT did not significantly affect any of the *** 2 or worse subcutaneous fibrosis was seen in 22%of patients and grade 2 or worse xerostomia was seen in 24%of patients at last follow ***-three percent of the patients developed clinical hypothyroidism at last follow *** of the patients experienced any neurological or vascular ***:Taxane-based induction chemotherapy followed by chemo-intensity modulated radiotherapy resulted in excellent locoregional control and survival with acceptable toxicities in patients of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial *** metastasis continues to be the predominant problem in these patients.

This paper proposes the mathematical model to investigate how to compute and analyze the tsunami wave parameters and the retrieval of its early warning using remote sensing technique to improve the detection *** different methods available for the evaluation of the tsunami detection systems are also *** research work is to compute and analyze the tsunami wave parameters such as Eigen functions in deep,intermediate and shallow water *** computational and algorithmic analysis of tsunami wave parameters are achieved in three steps:the first step is to calculate the earthquake fault parameters such as length,width,area and displacement from the epicenter,which corresponds to the effect of its variation with respect to the earthquake *** variation of each fault parameters have been measured and recorded out over the certain moment of magnitudes(M).This shows smaller values as compared to the earthquake magnitude M 9.5 at which all the parameters shows very large *** second step involves the measurements of water wave angular frequency in deep,intermediate and shallower region of *** values of angular frequencies in deep water shows the lesser response as compared to other two water conditions because,in deep water the angular velocity of water particles travels with the lesser speed as compared to the shallower region as per Airy’s wave *** simulation results show the angular velocity in Deep Ocean is very less,moderate in the intermediate water and very high on the coastal *** indicates the higher impact on coastal *** third step involves the simulation study of measurement of tsunami Eigen functions such as orbital velocity,acceleration,wave potential in deep,intermediate and shallower water *** simulation result shows the resultant orbital velocity and accelerations in deep,intermediate and shallow water regions provides the similar response as angular velocity due to same proportion of the

Aperiodic Sampled-Data Control of Distributed Networked Control Systems Under Stochastic Cyber-Attacks

This paper examines the stabilization problem of a distributed networked control system under the effect of cyberattacks by employing a hybrid aperiodic triggering *** cyber-attack considered in the paper is a stochastic deception attack at the sensor-controller end. The probability of the occurrence of attack on a subsystem is represented using a random variable. A decentralized hybrid sampled-data strategy is introduced to save energy consumption and reduce the transmission load of the network. In the proposed decentralized strategy, each subsystem can decide independently whether its state should be transmitted to the controller or not. The scheme of the hybrid triggering mechanism for each subsystem composed of two stages: In the first stage, the next sampling instant is computed using a self-triggering strategy. Subsequently, in the second stage, an event-triggering condition is checked at these sampling instants and the control signal is computed only if the event-triggering condition is violated. The self-triggering condition used in the first stage is dependent on the selection of eventtriggering condition of the second stage. Finally, a comparison of the proposed approach with other triggering mechanisms existing in the literature is presented in terms of the sampling instants,transmission frequency and performance measures through simulation examples.

A Review of Heat Transfer Enhancement through Flow Disruption in a Microchannel

In this paper a comprehensive review of heat transfer enhancement through microchannels has been presented. Over the past few years due to multifunetion, shrinking package size and high power dissipation, the heat flux per unit area has increased significantly. Microchannels, with their large heat transfer surface to volume ratio and their small volumes, have shown a good thermal performance. Microchannels have been proven to be a high per- formaace cooling technique which is able to dissipate heat flux effectively from localized hot spots over small surface area. A good amount of heat transfer augmentation techniques have been reported on flow disruption through microchannel. These techniques promote free stream separation at the leading edge which results in boundary layer development and enhanced mixing leading to increased heat transfer. Flow disruption can be achieved through passive surface modifications, such as, shape of channel, dimple surfaces, ribs, cavities, groove structures, porous medium, etc. Combined effects of these geometrical configurations in heat transfer augmenta- tion are also reported in the literature. In this paper recent developments in experimental and numerical simula- tions of single-phase liquid cooled microchannel have been discussed to analyze the pressure drop, friction and heat transfer characteristics due to different flow conditions, roughness structure and passive surface modifica- tions. It has been observed that the flow disruption techniques are effective for heat transfer enhancement with lower penalties of increased pressure drop. The review concludes with suggestions for future research in this area.
