The main aim of this paper is to develop an approach based on trapezoidal fuzzy numbers to optimize transportation problem in fuzzy *** present algorithm has representation of availability,demand and transportation cost as trapezoidal fuzzy *** algorithm is found quicker in terms of runtime as comparison to fuzzy VAM discussed in[Kaur A.,Kumar A.,A new method for solving fuzzy transportation problem using ranking function,***.35:5652–5661,2011;Ismail Mohideen S.,Senthil Kumar P.,A comparative study on transportation problem in fuzzy environment,***.2:151–158,2010].On the other hand this technique gives much better results than some classical methods like north-west corner and least cost *** benefit of this algorithm is that for certain transportation problems it directly gives optimal *** is one of the simplest methods to apply and *** usefulness of the new method over other existing methods is demonstrated with two numerical examples.

Acute pancreatitis in acute viral hepatitis

AIM: To elucidate the frequency and characteristics of pancreatic involvement in the course of acute (nonfulminant) viral hepatitis. METHODS: We prospectively assessed the pancreatic involvement in patients with acute viral hepatitis who presented with severe abdomimanl pain. RESULTS: We studied 124 patients with acute viral hepatitis, of whom 24 presented with severe abdominal pain. Seven patients (5.65%) were diagnosed to have acute pancreatitis. All were young males. Five patients had pancreatitis in the first week and two in the fourth week after the onset of jaundice. The pancreatitis was mild and all had uneventful recovery from both pancreatitis and hepatitis on conservative treatment. The etiology of pancreatitis was hepatitis E virus in 4, hepatitis A virus in 2, and hepatitis B virus in 1 patient. One patient had biliary sludge along with HEV infection. The abdominal pain of remaining seventeen patients was attributed to stretching of Glisson's capsule. CONCLUSION: Acute pancreatitis occurs in 5.65% of patients with acute viral hepatitis, it is mild and recovers with conservative management.

TO THE EDITOR We read with great interest the case report, “Hypertriglyceridernia -induced pancreatitis： A case-based review” by Gan eta]11 in the November 2006 issue of World Journal of Gastroenterology. We agree that in acute setting, pancreatitis due to hyper- triglyceridemia （HTG） should be ruled out as it is a treat-able and preventable condition. It needs to be treated conservatively along with measures to lower the triglyceride level. The various modalities to treat hypertriglyceridemia are plasmapheresis, insulin and heparin, purified apo C Ⅱ, and fibric acid derivatives^[2-5]. Plasmapheresis and purified apo C Ⅱ infusion are not easily available. There is limited literature about the efficacy of intravenous insulin and heparin, both of which can enhance lipoprotein lipase activity.

Tuberculosis is one among top 10 causes of deaths worldwide. Access to effective diagnosis by every TB patient is one among five missions of Global Plan. Active case finding among vulnerable groups has been the key focus area of National Strategic Plan to control TB in India 2017-25. This cross-sectional study was carried out to find out the additional open cases of TB through active screening of general & rural population in selected villages of Jaipur, the capital district in Rajasthan state of India. An active screening team of trained staff visited each house-hold in selected study villages for interviewing the head of house-hold or other adult member available at the time of visit. Family members of age ≥ 15 years were screened for complain of chronic cough of duration 2 weeks or more with study questionnaire. Presumptive cases found at screening were referred for seeking medical consultations from nearest designated microscopy centre. The referred patients were followed up on telephone up to five times for results of medical consultancies. Laboratory technicians of catchment DMCs were also followed up for verification of results. Total 19,306 individuals were covered. Study included 52.8% male, 69.3% ≥ 15 years age, and 99.3% Hindu participants. There were total 153 presumptive TB patients. Out of these, total 10 cases were confirmed as TB. The yield of detection was 0.51 cases/1000 population screened.
