An isocratic stability indicating RP-HPLC-UV method is presented for the determina- tion of metaxalone （MET） in the presence of its degradation products. The method uses Dr. Maisch C18 column （250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5μm） with mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate buffer with 4 mL of 0.4% triethyl amine （pH 3.0; 10 mM）（58：42, v/v） at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, pH of the buffer was adjusted with o-phosphoric acid. UV detection was performed at 225 nm. The method was validated for specificity, linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection, limit of quantification and robustness. The calibration plot was linear over the concentration range of 1-100 μg/mL having a correlation coefficient （r2） of 0.999. Limits of detection and quantification were 0.3 and 1μg/mL, respectively. Intra-day and inter-day precision （% RSD） was 0.65 and 0.79 respectively. The proposed method was used to investigate the degradation kinetics of MET under different stress conditions employed. Degradation of MET followed a pseudo-first-order kinetics, and rate constant （K）, time left for 50% potency （t1/2）, and time left for 90% potency 090） were calculated.

Presently,ilmenite concentrates from Odisha Sands Complex at Chhatrapur,India are utilized to produce TiO2 slag by direct smelting in an electric arc ***,the process involves the consumption of excess electrical energy and difficulty in handling the arc furnace due to frothing effects.A more efficient process of pre-reducing the ilmenite before smelting has been proposed in the present *** particular,studies have been undertaken on the reduction process of ilmenite-coke composite *** difference in the reduction behaviour of raw ilmenite and ilmenite-coke composite pellets has been established and compared with that of the pre-oxidized raw *** effects of various processing parameters like temperature,residence time,and reductant percentage on the metallization of composite pellets in a static bed have been *** of about 90%has been achieved at 1250°C for a reduction period of 360 min with a 4%coke ***,the reduced pellets have been characterized through chemical analysis,optical microscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction *** reduction behaviour of composite pellets has also been found better than that of pre-oxidized pellets indicating the former to be more efficient.

Revealing Genetic Relationship and Prospecting of Novel Donors Among Upland Rice Genotypes Using qDTY-Linked SSR Markers

A total of 17 simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers linked to QTLs(qDTYs) governing grain yield under reproductive stage(RS) drought stress were used to assess the genetic relationship and prospecting new donors for q DTYs among 32 popular upland rice genotypes. These SSR markers generated a total of 36 alleles with an average allele count of 2.1 per locus. Polymorphic information content value of the markers ranged from 0.376 to 0.662 with an average value of 0.484. The expected heterozyogosity ranged from 0.381 to 0.632. STRUCTURE analysis divided the 32 genotypes into three sub-populations. Subsequent phenotyping revealed that all the tolerant genotypes were grouped into one sub-population, whereas the moderately tolerant and susceptible genotypes were grouped into separate sub-populations. Phylogenetic tree constructed by the unweighted neighbour-joining method also divided the genotypes into three clusters. The grouping pattern of genotypes into the clusters was similar to that into the STRUCTURE analysis, on the basis of drought tolerance level. The average value of genetic dissimilarity coefficient among the genotypes was observed to be 0.486. Furthermore, by combining genotyping data with phenotyping data, 16 new donors for 6 qDTYs were identified.

This thesis examines the debate surrounding the notion of ren仁（humaneness）and yi義（righteousness）based on Wang Bi’s王弼（d.249）commentary on Laozi老子or Daodejing道德經.It explores how Wang Bi developed the most indispensable Confucian virtue of ren and yi from the Daoist *** the first chapter,this thesis focuses on the meaning of ren-yi and explains them into various philosophical *** one context,ren can be taken to mean humane or humaneness and yi indicates righteousness or the right way of *** Wang Bi’s commentary on Laozi they are not only limited as human virtues but also extended in nature,or heaven and ***,in Laozi itself ren and yi are subject to a different interpretation which allows us to think about both positive and negative dimensions of *** two sub-sections of the first chapter explain two controversial questions,namely,do ren and yi contribute to a negative ethics,and how can ren and yi be interpreted as developed if they are supposed to be abandoned?Possible solutions to these issues will be outlined from the perspective of Wang Bi’s *** answering“does ren-yi indicate Daoist negative ethics?”we will find that ren and yi in Laozi are neither opposed to the discussions of these virtues in the Lunyu nor do they indicate a type of“negative ethics.”Rather,as Wang Bi sees it,they can be used in a modification and development of a combined Daoist-Confucian *** regard to the latter question—how to build ren-yi by abandoning ren-yi?—as this thesis explores,one should embrace simplicity,cut self-interest,minimize desire,and also follow the way of Dao and self-so（ziran自然）.In this way,ren and yi do not need to be promoted but rather protected and one paradoxically builds and develops ren-yi by abandoning *** Two will focus on Wang Bi’s philosophical commentary on the Laozi regarding the concept of ren-yi,and illustrate how he developed this critical notion of moral *** will see that W

The introgression of wild chromosomal segments into popular rice varieties is one of the potential approaches for developing varieties for drought stress condition. Sixteen genotypes, including nine indica, two tropical japonica and five chromosome segments substitution lines (CSSLs) with different levels of tolerance/susceptibility to drought stress, were selected for diversity study. Sixty-three microsatellite markers were utilized for assessing genetic diversity. A total of 95 alleles were amplified, and out of them, 60 were polymorphic. Six unique alleles, amplified by the microsatellite loci RM276, RM472, RM488, RM537, RM541 and RM28089, were identified in six genotypes, namely FR13A, Brahamanakhi, RUF44, Swarna-sub1, Brahamanakhi and Satyabhama. The highest genetic similarity was found among CSSLs. Polymorphism information content (PIC) value varied from 0 to 1.00 with an average of 0.66 per locus. Twenty-eight microsatellites were found to be polymorphic, which could be used in marker-assisted selection programme. All the sixteen genotypes were grouped into two major clusters at genetic similarity of 0.64. In the cluster I, five CSSLs identified as diverse genotypes had wild ancestor segments responsible for drought tolerance, and hence they could be utilized as potential donors. The popular Indian varieties, Swarna-sub1 and IR64-sub1, could be used as recurrent parents in the future breeding program for developing varieties for abiotic stresses such as submergence and drought.

Poly lactic acid (PLA)—chemically treated fiber of Luffa cylindrica (LC) composites were fabricated by micro-compounding followed by injection molding method. Before reinforcement, LC fibers were exposed to chemical treatment like alkali treatment, bleaching and acid hydrolysis. The chemically treated LC fibers were then modified with Ca salts to explore their uses in bio medical industries. Thermal stability of chemically extracted cellulose fibers of LC and PLA composites reinforced with 2 wt%, 5 wt% and 10 wt% LC fibers were studied by thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) in the temperature range from 30℃ to 700℃. Better interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix was evidenced by increased thermal stability of composites due to incorporation of fiber. Crystallization and melting behavior of PLA composites were studied in the temperature range from 30℃ to 170℃ at heating rate of 10°/minute. The crystallization temperature and crystallization enthalpy increased up to 2 wt% of LC fiber content and gradually decreased with further increase of fiber content in the composites. Double melting peaks were observed for all composite samples and possible explanations were suggested on the basis of different crystalline structure of PLA and melt crystallization phenomena.

Evaluation of VSK separation in the classification of two mineralogically different iron ore fines

With gradually diminishing Fe grade in tandem with the ever-increasing demand for high-grade iron ores,iron ore industries are now focusing on the beneficiation of low-grade iron ore fines,mainly considered ***,the scarcity of water at many of the mines’sites and the new water conservation policies of the governments have necessitated research on suitable dry beneficiation *** this context,an effort has been made to evaluate the efficacy of a dry classification unit,such as the VSK separator,in upgrading the iron values of two low-grade Indian iron ore fines,named Sample 1 and Sample *** mineralogical studies,involving scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction,suggest that Sample 1 is a low-grade blue dust sample(51.2wt%Fe)containing hematite and quartz as the major minerals,while Sample 2(53.3wt%Fe)shows the presence of goethite in addition to hematite and *** experiments,carried out using Box-Benkhen statistical design,indicate that blower speed,followed by feed rate,is the most influencing operating parameter in obtaining a good product in the VSK *** optimum levels of the operating factors,a fines product with~55wt%Fe at a yield of~40%can be obtained from Sample 1,while Sample 2 can be upgraded to~56wt%Fe at a yield of~85%.The results suggest that the VSK separator can be employed as an efficient intermediate unit operation in a processing circuit to upgrade the iron contents of iron ore fines.

报告-种氨基功能化处理的多壁碳纳米管(f-MWCNTs)用于生物分子〔如牛血浆蛋白素(BSA)蛋白质及脱氧核醣核酸(DNA)〕的接枝处理高效方法。以苯—二茂铁喷入氩氛炉于～850℃裂解制得MWCNTs,,而后向纳米管表面导入羧基化合物,再以氨基基团对MWCNTs,进行功能化处理。该过程包括:乙二胺与羧基基团直接结合,经酰胺化引入胺基基团。对制得的MWCNTs、f-MWCNTs以及由BSA蛋白质和DNA接枝的氨化f-MWCNTs等样品,采用SEM、TEM、FTIR进行表征。结果表明:生物分子(BSA蛋白质和DNA)接枝于氨化的f-MWCNTs。

Antimicrobial Effect of Honey from the Arabian Gulf Region against Bacterial Isolates from Pus and Wound Swabs

Of the many beneficial effects attributed to honey, its antimicrobial properties have drawn considerable interest. Five types of natural honey originating from three countries but available in the local markets in UAE were randomly selected. The antibacterial activity of the honey types was tested against bacterial reference strains as well as 21 bacterial isolates obtained from pus and wound swabs from patients. All the five types of honey showed antibacterial activity, however, there were differences in the antibacterial efficacy of the different honey types. All the strains of Staphylococcus aureus (reference, clinical and methicillin-resistant) exhibited better susceptibilities contrast to the gram-negative isolates including Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa when tested against all different honey types. The findings from this study indicate that the antibacterial activity of locally available honey varies depending on their provenance. Further work is needed to identify factors which determine the antimicrobial efficacy of these different honey types. Their antibacterial activity can be explored for the treatment of wound infections in patients.
