Novel continuous single-step synthesis of nitrogen-modified TiO_2 by flame spray pyrolysis for photocatalytic degradation of phenol in visible light

A novel rapid and continuous process has developed for the synthesis of nitrogen-doped TiO2（N-TiO2）with flame spray pyrolysis（FSP） method. The nitrogen incorporation into TiO2 was achieved by a facile modification（addition of dilute nitric acid） in the precursor for the synthesis. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The doping of nitrogen into the TiO2 was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and energy dispersive X-ray（EDX） spectroscopy. The UV-vis spectra of the modified catalysts（with primary N source） exhibited band-gap narrowing for 4 N-TiO2 with band gap energy of 2.89 eV, which may be due to the presence of nitrogen in TiO2 structure. The introduction of secondary N-source（urea） into TiO2 crystal lattice results in additional reduction of the band gap energy to 2.68 eV and shows a significant improvement of visible light absorption. The N-TiO2 nanoparticles modified by using secondary N-source showed significant photocatalytic activity under visible light much higher than TiO2. The higher activity is attributed to the synergetic interaction of nitrogen with the TiO2 lattice. The lowering of the band-gap energy for the flame made N-doped TiO2 materials implies that the nitrogen doping in TiO2 by aerosol method is highly effective in extending the optical response of TiO2 in the visible region. The nitrogen atomic percentage has increased monotonically（0.09%-0.15%）with the increase in primary nitrogen source（nitric acid）, and significantly boosted to 0.97% when secondary nitrogen source（urea） was introduced. The highest rate of phenol degradation was obtained for catalysts with secondary N source due to increase in N content in the catalyst.

Investigation of proper modeling of very dense granular flows in the recirculation system of CFBs

The aim of this paper is the development of new models and] or the improvement of existing numerical models, used for simulating granular flow in CFB （circulating fluidized bed） recirculation systems. Most recent models follow the TFM （two-fluid model） methodology, but they cannot effectively simulate the inter-particle friction forces in the recirculation system, because the respective stress tensor does not incorporate compressibility of flow due to change of effective particle density. As a consequence, the induced normal and shear stresses are not modeled appropriately during the flow of the granular phase in the CFB recirculation system. The failure of conventional models, such as that of yon MisesJCoulomb, is mainly caused by false approximation of the yield criterion which is not applicable to the CFB recirculation system. The present work adopts an alternative yield function, used for the first time in TFM Eulerian modeling. The proposed model is based on the Pitman-Schaeffer-Gray-Stiles yield criterion. Both the temporal deformation of the solid granular phase and the repose angle that the granular phase forms are more accurately simulated by this model. The numerical results of the proposed model agree well with experimental data, implying that frictional forces are efficiently simulated by the new model.

Tibial tubercle osteotomy in revision total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review

BACKGROUND Tibial tubercle osteotomy(TTO) is a well-established surgical technique to deal with a stiff knee in revision total knee arthroplasty(RTKA). However, several reports have described potential osteotomy-related complications such as nonunion, tibial tubercle migration and fragmentation, and metalware related *** To evaluate the literature and estimate the efficiency of TTO in RTKA in terms of osteotomy union, knee mobility and *** MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were investigated for completed studies until February 2020. The principle outcome of the study was the incidence of union of the osteotomy. Secondary outcomes were the knee range of motion as well as the TTO-related and overall procedure complication *** Fifteen clinical studies with a total of 593 TTOs were included. The TTO union rate was 98.1%. Proximal migration and anterior knee pain were the most common TTO-related complications accounting for 6.9% and 6.4% of all cases,respectively. However, only 2.2% of cases suffering from anterior knee pain needed hardware removal. Knee flexion was improved from 82.9° preoperatively to 100.1° postoperatively and total knee range of motion was increased from 73.4° before surgery to 97° after surgery. Stiffness requiring manipulation under anesthesia was recorded in 4.6% of cases. No major complications were *** The current systematic review supports the use of TTO in RTKA, as it is associated with high union rate, significant improvement in knee motion and low osteotomy-related complication risk that rarely leads to secondary tibial tubercle procedures.

Role of apolipoproteins,ABCA1 and LCAT in the biogenesis of normal and aberrant high density lipoproteins

In this review, we focus on the pathway of biogenesis of HDL, the essential role of apoA-I, ATP binding cassette transporter A1（ABCA1）, and lecithin： cholesterol acyltransferase（LCAT） in the formation of plasma HDL; the generation of aberrant forms of HDL containing mutant apoA-I forms and the role of apoA-IV and apoE in the formation of distinct HDL subpopulations. The biogenesis of HDL requires functional interactions of the ABCA1 with apoA-I（and to a lesser extent with apoE and apoA-IV） and subsequent interactions of the nascent HDL species thus formed with LCAT. Mutations in apoA-I, ABCA1 and LCAT either prevent or impair the formation of HDL and may also affect the functionality of the HDL species formed. Emphasis is placed on three categories of apoA-I mutations. The first category describes a unique bio-engineered apoA-I mutation that disrupts interactions between apoA-I and ABCA1 and generates aberrant prep HDL subpopulations that cannot be converted efficiently to a subpopulations by LCAT. The second category describes natural and bio-engineered apoA-I mutations that generate preβ and small size a4 HDL subpopulations, and are associated with low plasma HDL levels. These phenotypes can be corrected by excess LCAT. The third category describes bio-engineered apoA-I mutations that induce hypertriglyceridemia that can be corrected by excess lipoprotein lipase and also have defective maturation of *** HDL phenotypes described here may serve in the future for diagnosis, prognoses and potential treatment of abnormalities that affect the biogenesis and functionality of HDL.

Surgical treatment outcome of painful traumatic neuroma of the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve during total knee arthroplasty
