Over the past few years,it is observed an increased interest for oleaginous microorganisms in the perspective to produce microbial oils of great commercial interest through the consumption of low/zero cost *** this paper,the physiology of the fungus Umbelopsis isabellina growing on blends of glycerol and glucose was *** all experiments the fungus completely consumed glucose and produced satisfactory quantities of biomass containing reserve lipids in high ***,glycerol concentration in the growth medium was negatively correlated to glucose assimilation rate,mainly during the balanced-growth ***,at high initial concentrations,glycerol was partially consumed and seemed to contribute positively to the suppression of lipid *** the discovery of this complex regulatory mechanism regarding glucose and glycerol co-assimilation,the activity of three key-enzymes namely aldolase,glycerol kinase and glycerol dehydrogenase,which are implicated in glycerol and glucose assimilation,was *** experiments revealed a clear preference of the fungus for glucose over *** the other hand,storage polysaccharides are degraded instead of storage lipid at the late oleaginous phase for maintenance *** new biochemical features will enable the design of appropriate growth media for the co-fermentation of these two substrates by *** with the aim to maximize lipid accumulation.

The behavior of rock masses is influenced by a variety of forces,with measurement of stress and strain playing the most critical roles in assessing *** laboratory test for determining strain at each location within rock samples is expensive and difficult but rock strain data are important for predicting failure of rock *** researchers employ AI technology in order to solve these *** algorithms such as gradient boosting machine(GBM),support vector regression(SVR),random forest(RF),and group method of data handling(GMDH)are used to efficiently estimate the strain at every point within a rock ***,the ensemble unit(EnU)may be utilized to evaluate rock *** this study,3000 experimental data are used for the purpose of *** obtained strain values are then evaluated using various statistical parameters and compared to each other using *** analysis,stress-strain curve,Young’s modulus,Poisson’s ratio,actual *** curve,error matrix and the Akaike’s information criterion(AIC)values are used for comparing *** GBM model achieved 98.16%and 99.98%prediction accuracy(in terms of values of R2)in the longitudinal and lateral dimensions,respectively,during the testing *** GBM model,based on the experimental data,has the potential to be a new option for engineers to use when assessing rock strain.

AIM: To conduct a detailed systematic review of the current evidence on the administration and efficacy of tranexamic acid in patients with menorrhagia due to uterine fibroids. METHODS: We conducted an electronic search on the following databases Pub Med and Medline(1950-2013);(1980-2013); Cochrane library(1993-2013). RESULTS: A total of 36 articles were retrieved after the initial electronic search. Careful assessment of the retrieved studies led to the final selection of 5 articles for inclusion in the review. CONCLUSION: Tranexamic acid may reduce blood loss perioperatively in myomectomies. It may reduce the menorrhagia in patients with fibroids, however a stratification of fibroids by size and location is required to define the responses. It is safe in general, with mild adverse effects observed in some cases. More studies with a double-blind randomized design and larger numbers of participants are necessary to reach more precise and safe conclusions.

The purpose of this paper is twofold:(i)to propose a methodology to accurately evaluate power quality indices,and(ii)to highlight the importance of power quality monitoring services at different voltage levels of three-phase power *** proposed methodology is based on wavelet packet transform(WPT)and is able to perform power quality analysis in three-phase power systems operating under stationary and non-stationary conditions,in the presence of both harmonics and *** test cases are examined:synthetic voltage and current waveforms including noise,simulated test systems,a modified IEEE 13-bus test feeder,as well as experimental *** obtained results in all cases demonstrate the accuracy and the effectiveness of the proposed WPT method and its superiority over fast Fourier transform to accurately evaluate power quality indices in case of non-stationary disturbances.
