The str.ctur.s and p.op.r.ies of benzoxazines wer. investigated by vir.ue of molecular.modeling at a molecular.level. By means of Cer.us softwar.(ver.ion 4.0) sup.lied by Molecular.Simulations Inc., the molecular.mechanics and the molecular.dynamics wer. p.r.or.ed under.a p.FF for.e field. Five kinds of the polymeric chains of benzoxazines wer. cr.ated by using polymer builder.and ener.y minimization. The r.laxation p.ocess was conducted with both ener.y minimization and molecular.dynamics.

A novel diamine 4-[（4＇-butoxyp.enoxy）car.onyl]p.enyl-3＂,5＂-diaminobenzoate （BCDA） was synthesized fr.m 4-butoxyp.enol, 4-hydr.xybenzoic acid and 3,5-dinitr.benzoic acid thr.ugh four.main inter.ediates, and a ser.es of p.lyimides wer. also synthesized. All the inter.ediates and the final p.oduct wer. char.cter.zed by FTIr.and 1H-NMr. The key step.in synthesis r.ute is selective hydr.lyzation of two ester.gr.up. in 4-butoxyp.enyl-4＇-acetoxybenzoate, by adjusting the r.action temp.r.tur. and the concentr.tion of ammonia, shor.eding the r.action time. The p.op.r.ies of the novel p.lyimides, such as the aggr.gation str.ctur.s, glass tr.nsition temp.r.tur., solubility and the p.etilt angles, wer. car.ed out.

This is a p.r. of our.systematic r.sear.h wor. on p.lyimides with mesogenic unit side chain. In this study, a new 4＇-p.enylp.enyl 4-（3＂,5＂-diaminobenzoyloxy）benzoate and p.lyimide wer. synthesized, and char.cter.zed by FTIr. ^1H-NMr. inher.nt viscosity, mechanical p.op.r.ies, and solubility measur.ments. The diamine comp.sed with mesogenic unit ar.l ester.gr.up. and bip.enyl gr.up.with longer.L/D r.tio, was synthesized by two key step.. Fir.tly, the hydr.xy gr.up.of 4-hydr.xybenzoic acid was p.otected by acetoxy gr.up.for.avoiding self- polymerization of 4-hydr.xybenzoic acid, and then selectively hydr.lyzed after.ester.fication of car.oxyl. Secondly, a selective catalysis hydr.genation was adop.ed to p.event the ar.l ester.fr.m deoxidation. Based on this diamine, a novel p.lyimide was p.ep.r.d by p.lycondensation of 4＇-p.enylp.enyl 4-（3＂, 5＂-diaminobenzoyloxy）benzoate and 4-aminop.enyl ether.ODA） with 4, 4＇-oxydip.thalic anhydr.de（ODp.） in N-methyl-2-p.r.olidone （NMp.. The r.sulting p.lyimide with longer.side chain showed better.solubility and mor. r.gular.str.ctur.. Its inher.nt viscosity is lower.than that without side chains, but its modulus and str.ngth not only maintained, even imp.oved.
