Use of DREAm.to assess relative risks of presence of pharm.ceuticals and personal care products from.a wastewater treatm.nt plant

Concerns related to environm.ntal risks associated with pharm.ceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) have led researchers to seek m.thods for assessing and m.nitoring these contam.nants in the aquatic environm.nt. Identifying and validating risk assessm.nt tools that can evaluate ecological concerns and risks associated with PPCPs is critical. Herein, the suitability of a dose-related risk and effect assessm.nt m.del, which estim.tes predicted environm.ntal concentrations and allowed com.arisons with predicted no effect concentrations determ.ned, in com.ination with in vitro analyses of the whole effluent toxicity, was verified for the characterization of a PPCP hazard. Concentrations of the m.st utilized PPCPs in Norway were m.asured in influent and effluent sam.les and used to param.terize the fate *** than 90% rem.val was attained for 12 out of 22 detected PPCPs. Rem.val was not dependent on the class or the concentration of the specific substance and varied between 12% and 100%. The PPCPs detected in the discharged wastewater were utilized to assess individual contributions to the risk of the effluent, and no risk was identified for the targeted 30 PPCP. The sim.lations provided valuable inform.tion regarding the discharge plum. distribution over tim., which can aid planning of future environm.ntal m.nitoring *** (using fish liver cells, PLHC-1) were used for assessing overall effluent toxicity, through cell viability, production of reactive oxygen species, and ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase (EROD) *** present study m.y allow regulators to use risk-based strategies over rem.val criteria for m.nitoring studies and confirm. the im.ortance to take PPCP contam.nation into consideration when establishing environm.ntal regulations.

Lithium.oxygen batteries are a prom.sing technology because they can greatly surpass the energy density of lithium.ion ***,this theoretical characteristic has not yet been converted into a real device with high *** with air contam.nation,m.tallic lithium.reactivity,and com.lex discharge and charge reactions are the m.in issues for this technology.A fast and reversible oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is crucial for good perform.nce of secondary batteries',but the partial knowledge of its m.chanism.,especially when devices are concerned,hinders further *** this perspective,the present work uses operando Ram.n experim.nts and electrochem.cal im.edance spectroscopy(EIS)to assess the first stages of the discharge processes in porous carbon electrodes,following their changes cycle by cycle at initial operation.A growth kinetic form.tion of the discharge product signal(Li_(2)O_(2))was observed with operando Ram.n,indicating a first-order reaction and enabling an analysis by a m.crokinetic *** solution m.chanism.in the evaluated system.was ascribed for an equivalent circuit with three tim. *** the tim. constant for the anode interface reveals to rem.in relatively constant after the first discharge,its surface seem.d to be m.re *** m.del indicated that the reaction occurs at the Li_(2)O_(2) surface,decreasing the associated resistance during the initial discharge ***,the growth of Li_(2)O_(2) form. a hetero-phase between Li_(2)O_(2)/electrolyte,while creating a m.re com.act and hom.geneous on the Li_(2)O_(2)/cathode *** m.thodology here described thus offers a way of directly probing changes in surface chem.stry evolution during cycling from.a device through EIS analysis.

This work shows the synthesis,characterization and evaluation of dense-ceram.c m.m.ranes m.de of Ce_(0.85)Gd_(0.15)O_(2-δ)-LaNiO_(3)(CG-LN)com.osites,where the fluorite-perovskite ratio(CG:LN)was varied as follows:75:25,80:20 and 85:15 wt.%.Supports were initially characterized by XRD,SEm.and electrical conductivity(using vacuum.and oxygen atm.spheres),to determ.ne the com.osition,m.crostructural and ionic-electronic conductivity ***,supports were infiltrated with an eutectic carbonates m.xture,producing the corresponding dense dual-phase m.m.ranes,in which CO_(2)perm.ation tests were ***,CO_(2)perm.ation experim.nts were perform.d from.900 to 700℃,in the presence and absence of oxygen(flowed in the sweep m.m.rane side).Results showed that these com.osites possess high CO_(2)perm.ation properties,where the O_(2)addition significantly im.roves the ionic conduction on the sweep m.m.rane ***,the GC80-LN20 com.osition presented the best results due to the following physicochem.cal characteristics:high electronic and ionic conductivity,appropriate porosity,interconnected porous channels,as well as therm.l and chem.cal stabilities between the com.osite support and carbonate phases.

Litterfall is the largest source of nutrients to for-est soils of tropical ***,variability in lit-terfall production,nutrient rem.bilization,and changes in leaf nutrient concentration with clim.te seasonality rem.in largely unknown for the central *** study m.as-ured litterfall production,leaf nutrient rem.bilization,and leaf area index on a forest plateau in the central *** was m.asured at m.nthly intervals during 2014,while nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium.calcium.and m.g-nesium.concentrations of leaf litter and canopy leaves were m.asured in the dry and rainy seasons,and rem.bilization rates *** area index was also recorded in the dry and rainy *** litterfall varied from.33.2(in the rainy season)to 87.6 g m.(-2) in the dry season,while leaf area index increased slightly in the rainy *** seasonality had no effect on concentrations of nitrogen,calcium.and m.gnesium.whereas phosphorous and potassium.responded to rainfall seasonality *** phosphorous increased,potassium.decreased during the dry *** seasons,nitrogen,potassium.and phosphorous decreased in leaf litter;calcium.increased in leaf litter,while m.gnesium.rem.ined unaffected with leaf ***,the five nutrients had sim.lar rem.bilization rates over the *** absence of clim.te seasonality on nutrient rem.bilization suggests that the current length of the dry season does not alter nutrient rem.bilization rates but this m.y change as dry periods becom. m.re prolonged in the future due to clim.te change.

In this paper,the determ.nation of Thiram.fungicide by a novel m.dified screen-printed carbon electrode(SPCE)fabricated m.difying the working electrode(WE)with 2D-GO/WS2nanohybrid com.osites,is *** electron m.croscopy(SEm.,Ram.n spectroscopy,and fluorescence analysis(PL)were used to reveal the m.rphological and m.crostructural characteristics of the 2D-GO/WS2 nanohybrids with different graphene oxide:tungsten disulphide(GO:WS_(2))*** characterization dem.nstrated that the 2D-WS2/GO nanohybrids having a GO:WS_(2)ratio=2:1 shows the highest electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of *** developed sensor perm.ts the quantification of Thiram.in the linear range 0.083-0.33μm.with a lim.t of detection(LOD)of 0.02μm.which is below the legal lim.ts for this fungicide in drinking water or foods.

Atom.cally thin Pt nanolayers were synthesized on the surface of m.2TiC2 m.enes and used for the catalytic dehydrogenation of ethane and propane into ethylene and propylene,two im.ortant chem.cals for the petrochem.cal *** com.ared with Pt nanoparticles,the atom.cally thin Pt nanolayer catalyst showed superior coke-resistance(no deactivation for 24 h),high activity(turnover frequencies(TOFs)of 0.4–1.2 s^(-1)),and selectivity(>95%)toward ethylene and *** unique Pt nanolayer has a sim.lar geom.tric surface to Pt nanoparticles,enabling the investigations of the electronic effect on the catalytic perform.nce,where the geom.tric effect is *** is found that the electronic effect plays a critical role in dehydrogenative product selectivity and catalyst *** m.tal–support interaction is found dependent on the substrate and m.tal com.onents,providing wide opportunities to explore high-perform.nce m.ene-supported m.tallic catalysts.

We studied the effect of titanium.dioxide(TiO_(2))nanoparticles(NPs)on dielectric behavior of Naþion-conducting salt-com.lexed polym.r nanocom.osite system.form.d from.a binary polym.r blend of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)and polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP),with the addition of both sodium.m.taperiodate(NaIO_(4))at concentration 10 wt.%and TiO_(2) NPs of size10 nm.at concentrations 1,2,3,4 and 5 wt.%.Free standing nanocom.osite PEO/PVP/NaIO_(4)/TiO_(2) film.(150m.were characterized at room.tem.erature by analyzing their com.lex electrical im.edance and dielectric spectra in the range 1 Hz–1 *** the concentration of 3 wt.%of TiO_(2) NPs,both ion conductivity and dielectric perm.ttivity of the PEO/PVP/NaIO_(4)/TiO_(2) ion-conducting dielectrics reach an enhancem.nt by m.re than one order of m.gnitude as com.ared to nanoadditive-free case.
