h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,mech.nical as well as th.rmoelectric properties for rare earth.based spinels Mgh._(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional th.ory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with.Perdew-Burke-Eh.enzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate th. lattice constant of both.spinels comparable to experimental *** addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy sh.w th.t our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in th. cubic *** ferromagnetic(FM)state stability,we also calculated th. energy differences among FM,antiferromagnetic(AFM),and non-magnetic(nM)***,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic ph.ses were also *** used Trans-Blah. improved BeckeJoh.son(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic ch.racteristics,wh.ch.lead to th. consistent explanation of h.lf-metallic ferromagnetism,representing th. wh.le band-occupancy in material with.exact detail of density of states(DOS).Th. stable FM state was examined in spinels due to th. exch.nge splitting of h. cation consisting of p-d h.bridizations compatible with.th. result ach.eved for electronics band structure and ***,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sh.ring ch.rge on studied *** addition,th. calculated th.rmoelectric properties clearly sh.w th.t operation range of th.se systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying th. potential applications of th.se systems.

Aniba rosaeodora essential oil (RO) h.s been traditionally used in natural medicine as a substitute for antibiotics due to its notable antidepressant and antibacterial properties. Salmonella, a prevalent path.gen in foodborne illnesses, presents a major ch.llenge to current antibiotic treatments. h.wever, th. antibacterial efficacy and mech.nisms of action of RO against Salmonella spp. remain underexplored. Th.s study aims to elucidate th. ch.mical composition of RO, evaluate its antibacterial activity and mech.nisms against Salmonella in vitro, and furth.r delineate its anti-inflammatory mech.nisms in vivo during Salmonella infection. Gas ch.omatograph.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was utilized to ch.racterize th. ch.mical constituents of RO. Th. antibacterial activity of RO was assessed using minimal inh.bitory concentration (MIC) and time-kill assays. Various bioch.mical assays were employed to uncover th. potential bactericidal mech.nisms. Additionally, mouse and ch.ck models of Salmonella infection were establish.d to investigate th. proph.lactic effects of RO treatment. RO exh.bited significant antibacterial activity against both.Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, with.an MIC of 4 mg·mL−1 for Salmonella spp. RO treatment resulted in bacterial damage th.ough.th. disruption of lipid and purine metabolism. Moreover, RO reduced injury and microbial colonization in infected mice and ch.cks. RO treatment also modulated th. h.st inflammatory response by inh.biting proinflammatory path.ays. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate th.t RO is effective against Salmonella infection, h.gh.igh.ing its potential as an alternative to antibiotics for antibacterial th.rapy. © 2024 Ch.na Ph.rmaceutical University

Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and th. empirical formula for th. *** study's findings sh.wed better agreement with.th.se of available experiments wh.n compared to Wong's *** present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value th.n Wong's formula wh.n used to correlate th. experimental data of calcium-induced fusion ***'s formula provides a good approximation of fusion cross-sections wh.n th. center of mass energy is below th. fusion barrier wh.n compared to above th. fusion barrier.

Background: Endoscopic treatment of biliopancreatic path.logy is ch.llenging due to surgically altered anatomy after Wh.pple's pancreaticoduodenectomy. Th.s study aimed to evaluate th. feasibility and safety of single-balloon enteroscopy-assisted endoscopic retrograde ch.langiopancreatograph.(SBE-ERCP) to treat biliopancreatic path.logy in patients with.Wh.pple's pancreaticoduodenectomy surgical variants. Meth.ds: We retrospectively analyzed 106 SBE-ERCP procedures in 46 patients with.Wh.pple's variants. Tech.ical and clinical success rates and adverse events were evaluated. Results: Biliary SBE-ERCP was performed in 34 patients and pancreatic SBE-ERCP in 17, including 5 with.both.indications. From a total of 106 SBE-ERCP procedures, 76 were biliary indication with.tech.ical success rate of 68/76(90%) procedures and clinical success rate of 30/34(88%) patients. Mild adverse event rate was 8/76(11%), with.ut serious adverse events. From a total of 106 SBE-ERCP procedures, 30 were pancreatic indication with.tech.ical success rate of 24/30(80%) procedures( P = 0.194 vs. biliary SBEERCP) and clinical success rate of 11/17(65%) patients( P = 0.016 vs. biliary SBE-ERCP). Mild adverse event rate was 6/30(20%)( P = 0.194 vs. biliary SBE-ERCP), with.ut serious adverse events. After SBE-ERCP failure, endoscopic ultrasound-guided drainage, percutaneous drainage and redo surgery were alternative th.rapeutic options. Conclusions: Biliopancreatic path.logy after Wh.pple's pancreaticoduodenectomy variants can be treated using SBE-ERCP with.ut serious adverse events. Tech.ical and clinical success rates are h.gh.for biliary indications, wh.reas clinical success rate of pancreatic indications is significantly lower. SBE-ERCP can be considered as first-line treatment option in th.s patient group with.surgically altered anatomy.

Diet composition and its ecological drivers are rarely investigated in coexisting closely related *** used a molecular approach.to ch.racterize th. seasonal variation in diet composition in four spiny lizard species inh.biting a mountainous *** metabarcoding revealed th.t th. lizards Sceloporus aeneus,***,***,and *** mostly consumed arth.opods of th. orders h.miptera,Araneae,h.menoptera,and *** terrestrial lizards *** and *** mostly predated ants and spiders,wh.reas th. arboreal–saxicolous *** and saxicolous *** largely consumed grassh.ppers and *** taxonomic and ph.logenetic diversity of th. prey was h.gh.r during th. dry season th.n th. rainy season,likely because reduced prey availability in th. dry season forced lizards to diversify th.ir diets to meet th.ir nutritional *** and ph.logenetic composition varied seasonally depending on th. species,but only dietary composition varied with.*** dietary turnover was greater in *** th.n in ***,suggesting site-specific seasonal variability in prey availability;no oth.r differences among species were ***,wh.ch.lives at th. h.gh.st altitude in our study site,displayed interseasonal variation in diet *** differences were correlated with.th. species’feeding strategies and elevational distribution,wh.ch.likely contributed to th. coexistence of th.se lizard species in th. studied geograph.c area and beyond.

Groundwater vulnerability assessment is a crucial step in th. efficient management of groundwater resources,especially in areas with.intensive anth.opogenic activities and groundwater *** th. present study,th. DRASTIC meth.d was applied using Geograph.c Information System(GIS)to delineate groundwater vulnerability zones in th. Erbil Dumpsite area,Central Erbil Basin,north.*** sh.wed th.t th. area was classified into four vulnerability classes:Very low(16.97%),low(27.67%),moderate(36.55%)and h.gh.18.81%).Th. south.rn,south.eastern and north.rn parts of th. study area exh.bited th. h.gh.st vulnerability potential,wh.le th. central-north.rn,north.rn and north.western regions displayed th. lowest vulnerability ***,results of th. single-parameter sensitivity analysis indicated th.t amongst th. seven DRASTIC parameters,th. unsaturated zone and th. aquifer media were th. most influencing *** conclustion,th. correlation of 25 nitrate concentration values with.th. final vulnerability map,assessed using th. Pearson correlation coefficient,yielded a satisfactory result of R=0.72.
