In this paper,complexity analysis and dynamic characteristics of electroencephalogram(EEG) signal based on maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform(MODWT) has been exploited for the identification of seizure *** wavelet-based studies were well suited for classification of normal and epileptic seizure EEG,we have applied MODWT which is an improved version of discrete wavelet transform(DWT).The selection of optimal wavelet sub-band and features plays a crucial role to understand the brain dynamics in epileptic ***,we have investigated MODWT using four different wavelets,namely Haar,Coif4,Dmey,and Sym4 sub-bands until seven ***,we have explored the potentials of six entropies,namely sigmoid,Shannon,wavelet,Renyi,Tsallis,and Steins unbiased risk estimator(SURE) entropies in each *** sigmoid entropy extracted from Haar wavelet in sub-band D4 showed the highest accuracy of 98.44% using support vector machine classifier for the EEG collected from Ramaiah Medical College and Hospitals(RMCH).Further,the highest accuracy of 100% and 94.51% was achieved for the University of Bonn(UBonn) and CHB-MIT databases *** findings of the study showed that Haar and Dmey wavelets were found to be computationally economical and expensive ***,in terms of dynamic characteristics,MODWT results revealed that the highest energy present in sub-bands D2,D3,and D4 and entropies in those respective sub-bands outperformed other entropies in terms of classification results for RMCH ***,using all the entropies,sub-bands D5 and D6 outperformed other sub-bands for UBonn and CHB-MIT databases *** conclusion,the comparison results of MODWT outperformed DWT.

The sub-micron（of the order of 150 nm） thick core–shell composite fibers of magnesium ferrite-polyvinylidene fluoride are prepared by *** loading of magnesium ferrite is varied from 1 to 10 wt%.The study results by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,and infra-red spectroscopy indicate the formation of core–shell structure and an enhancement in the amount of b-phase compared to a-phase in the polyvinylidene *** particle size of the magnesium ferrite in the fiber is evaluated to be 30 *** low frequency dielectric studies indicate that the addition of the magnesium ferrite increases the polarization resulting in the increase in the dielectric constant but decreases the dielectric *** magnetization measurements indicate an increased value of coercivity compared to bulk due to the nano-size of the magnesium *** microwave absorption at the ferromagnetic resonance increases with the increase in the concentration of magnesium *** resonance field is found to vary with the loading of MFO.

Fluid-driven Hydrovolcanic Activity along Fracture Zones and near Seamounts:Evidence from Deep-sea Fe-rich Spherules,Central Indian Ocean Basin

An insight on occurrence of Fe-rich spherules from the Central Indian Ocean Basin(CIOB)provides an understanding of their distribution at a water depth of>5,000 *** the present study,Fe-rich spherules are identified to occur in two different sediment types(i.e.,siliceous and pelagic)and tectonic settings(*** seamounts and fracture zones).These are single spheres or aggregates,of different sizes(63 to 390μm)and show textural variability(smooth/quenched,brickwork,corkscrew,interlocking and dendritic).A comparative study based on physical morphology and chemical composition suggests a common mechanism of *** association of spherules with fracture zones(FZ)and seamounts signifies that morpho-tectonic features play an important role in fluid-driven *** on the evidence and geologic conditions existing in the basin,we conclude that molten fuel-coolant interaction(MFCI)coupled with submarine hydrothermal exhalations could be an ideal mechanism for the formation of spherules and *** accretion of the spherules on the surface sediments could be a result of recent volcanic phenomena,while those occurring at different depths(280-355,and 460-475 cm-bsf)within the sediment core indicate two different *** study provides a global implication in understanding fluid-driven magmatism in a deep-sea intraplate environment.

Two types of uranium mineralization in Gulcheru quartzite:Fracture-controlled in Ambakapalle area and litho-controlled in Tummalapalle area,Cuddapah Basin,Andhra Pradesh,India

The Cuddapah Basin in southern India has a potential for uranium mineralization due to some favorable factors such as its temporal, stratigraphic and tectonic settings. Systematic exploration program conducted by the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) within the Cuddapah Basin resulting in the recognition of distinct types of uranium mineralization, viz., strata bound type, fracture/shear-controlled type and tabular type. The Gulcheru Formation which is the lowermost unit of the Cuddapah Basin is dominantly arenitic in nature. During the exploration works, a number of uranium anomalies were identified with dimensions ranging from 1 m to 1.5 km. Gulcheru quartzite hosted uranium mineralization is intermittent and inconsistent in nature. The anomalous outcrops are distributed over a strike length of ca. 60 km between Gandi in the SE and Ambakapallein the NW. Presently, two different types of uranium mineralization are characterized on the basis of field observations, mapping and structural interpretation, petro-mineralogy and geochemistry. Although the host rock is same for both types, the mechanism of uranium enrichment is totally different. The Ambakapalle uranium mineralization is controlled by fault zone and associated hydrothermal activity. Whereas, the Tummalapalle uranium mineralization is litho-controlled in nature influenced by suitable four ‘P’ factors, i.e., provenance, porositypermeability, precipitation and preservation. The geochemical characterization of Gulcheru quartzite suggest a passive margin type of provenance setting. Petro-mineralogically the quartz arenite suggests enough textural as well as mineralogical maturity. Ambakapalle quartzite is slightly strained and deformed due to faulting. Analysis of selected samples recorded 0.01% to 0.048% U3O8 and <0.01% ThO2. Cobalt Recovery from Waste Catalysts (Petroleum Refining Industry from Gujarat)

A hydrometallurgical process has been developed for cobalt recovery from a waste catalyst (petroleum refining industry). This waste catalyst containing about 2.18 weight % of Co, is highly contaminated by Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo. The major steps are: (I) The spent catalyst is roasted with flux material in an electrical furnace at very high temperature (700?C) for a specific duration. (II) The roasted sample is leached with sulphuric acid to bring the metal contents into solution form. (III) For separating cobalt values from the leach solution, the solution pH is raised by NaOH addition, where all cobalt content is precipitated at a pH of about 12. (IV) This cobalt hydroxide precipitate is filtered and dissolved in minimum amount of sulphuric acid to get cobalt sulphate solution which is used as the electrolyte for the electrolytic recovery of cobalt. For optimizing various parameters like (1) H2SO4 concentration;(2) Duration;(3) Cobalt concentration;(4) Current density;(5) Temperature;(6) Stirring etc., The particle surface morphology and deposited layers have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A compact metallic deposit containing 70% cobalt was obtained.

Curcumin： A putative chemopreventive agent

Curcumin （diferuloylmethane）, the main yellow bioactive component of turmeric has been shown to have a wide spectrum of biological actions. It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antimutagenic, anticoagulant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antiviral, antifibrotic, antivenom, anti-ulcer and hypocholesteremic. Its anticancer effect is mainly mediated through induction of apoptosis. Its anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant roles may be clinically exploited to control rheumatism, carcinogenesis and oxidative stress-related pathogenesis. Clinically, curcumin has already been used to reduce post-operative inflammation, Thus, curcumin has the potential of chemopreventive action and has been used in the development of modern medicine to treat various diseases.

Bulk Growth and Characterization of D-(–)-Alanine Single Crystals

Single crystal of D-(–)-alanine (DALA), a non-linear optical material from the amino acid family was grown using a home-made crystal growth setup. The crystals of DALA were also grown by slow evaporation solution technique (SEST). The grown crystals were characterized by using single crystal X-ray diffraction, high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) and UV-vis-NIR and CD spectroscopy. Measurements of Vicker’s microhardness, laser damage threshold (LDT) value and second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency are also reported. Thermal and dielectric studies were also carried out.

Neuroblastoma(NB)is the most common cancer of infancy and accounts for nearly one tenth of pediatric cancer *** mortality rate has been attributed to the>50%frequency of relapse despite intensive,multimodal clinical therapy in patients with progressive *** the disease’s heterogeneity and developed resistance,attaining a cure after relapse of progressive NB is highly challenging.A rapid decrease in the timeline between successive recurrences is likely due to the ongoing acquisition of genetic rearrangements in undifferentiated NB-cancer stem cells(CSCs).In this review,we present the current understanding of NB-CSCs,their intrinsic role in tumorigenesis,their function in disease progression,and their influence on acquired therapy resistance and tumor *** particular,this review focus on the intrinsic involvement of stem cells and signaling in the genesis of NB,the function of pre-existing CSCs in NB progression and therapy response,the formation and influence of induced CSCs(iCSCs)in drug resistance and tumor evolution,and the development of a CSC-targeted therapeutic approach.

Ciona intestinalis as an emerging model organism: its regeneration under controlled conditions and methodology for egg dechorionation

The ascidian Ciona intestinalis is a model organism of developmental and evolutionary biology and may provide orucial clues concerning two fundamental matters, namely, how chordates originated from the putative deuterostome ancestor and how advanced chordates originated from the simplest chordates. In this paper, a whole-life-span culture of C. intestinalis was conducted. Fed with the diet combination of dry Spirulina, egg yolk, Dicrateria sp., edible yeast and weaning diet for shrimp, C. intestinalis grew up to average 59 mm and matured after 60 d cultivation. This culture process could be repeated using the artificially cultured mature ascidians as material. When the fertilized eggs were maintained under 10, 15, 20, 25 ℃, they hatched within 30 h, 22 h, 16 h and 12 h 50 min respectively experiencing cleavage, blastulation, gastrulation, neurulation, tailbud stage and tadpole stage, The tadpole larvae were characterized as typical but simplified chordates because of their dorsal nerve cord, notochord and primordial brain. After 8-24 h freely swimming, the tadpole larvae settled on the substrates and metamorphosized within 1-2 d into filter feeding sessile juvenile ascidians. In addition, unfertilized eggs were successfully dechorionated in filtered seawater containing 1% Tripsin, 0.25% EDTA at pH of 10.5 within 40 min. After fertilization, the dechorionated eggs developed well and hatched at normal hatching rate. In conclusion, this paper presented feasible methodology for rearing the tadpole larvae of C. intestinalis into sexual maturity under controlled conditions and detailed observations on the embryogenesis of the laboratory cultured ascidians, which will facilitate developmental and genetic research using this model system.
