Rare adult gastric duplication cyst mimicking a gastrointestinal stromal tumor

Gastric duplication cyst is a very rare gastrointestinal tract malformation that accounts for 2%-4%of alimentary tract *** cases are diagnosed within the first year of life,following presentation of abdominal pain,vomiting,and weight loss and clinical discovery of an abdominal palpable *** case report describes a very uncommon symptomatic gastric duplication cyst diagnosed for the first time in *** a few other case reports of similar condition exist,and all were identified by *** current case involves a 52-year-old male who presented with a onemonth history of progressive iron deficiency anemia without overt gastrointestinal *** patient underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy,which revealed a 2.0 cm pinkish subepithelial lesion,suspected to be a gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST)and source of gastrointestinal *** endosonography showed inhomogeneous hypoechoic lesions with focal anechoic areas arising from a second and third layer of the gastric *** diagnoses of GIST,neuroendocrine tumor,or pancreatic heterotopia were *** lesion was removed using an endoscopic submucosal resection *** revealed an erosive gastric mass composed of a complex structure of dilated gastric glands surrounded by fibro-muscular tissue,fibroblasts,and smooth muscle bundles,which led to the diagnosis of gastric duplication.

The effects of prey depletion on dietary niches of sympatric apex predators in Southeast Asia

Resource depletion exerts opposing pressures on co-occurring consumers to expand diets while limiting overlap with *** foraging theory as a framework,we tested the effects of prey availability on diet spe-cialization and overlap among competing Asian predators:dhole,leopard,and *** used scat analysis from a prey-poor site,combined with a quantitative synthesis of 40 other diet studies,to determine biomass of different prey types consumed by each *** then assessed diet composition in relation to prey density,and compared diet breadth and overlap between prey-poor and prey-rich *** prey rich areas,all three predators specialized on energetically profitable medium and large ungulates(>30 kg),resulting in narrow,overlapping *** predator shifted toward less profitable small-bodied prey(≤30 kg)as preferred ungulates declined,whereas con-sumption of preferred ungulates was unrelated to small prey abundance,as predicted by foraging *** breadths doubled under prey depletion(except leopard),but overlap declined as diets diverged via species-specific traits that facilitated capture of different types of alternative ***’s apex predators adapt similarly to depletion of mutually preferred ungulates by switching to more numerous but less profitable small *** they can also partition a depleted prey base through intrinsic niche differences,thereby avoiding competitive *** find-ings illuminate the stabilizing properties of adaptive foraging and niche differences in ecological communities,and provide insights into the behavior and resilience of Asia’s endangered apex predators in response to prey depletion in the heavily poached forests of this region.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the physical activity of the Thai population: Evidence from Thailand’s Surveillance on Physical Activity 2020

Background:The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has undoubtedly disrupted the physical activity(PA)of the Thai *** study examined the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA)of Thai adults and assessed the effects of the national curfew policy and health-promotion campaigns on influencing PA during the ***:Thailand’s Surveillance on Physical Activity(SPA)2019 and 2020 datasets were employed to compare the PA level of Thai adults aged 1864 years before and during the COVID-19 *** of 4460 respondents from SPA 2019 and 4482 respondents from SPA 2020 were included in the *** Physical Activity Questionnaires(Version 2.0),were used to measure PA in both *** MVPA for adults was defined based on the recommendation of 75 min of vigorous PA or a combination of 150 min of MVPA per ***:The proportion of Thai adults who had sufficient MVPA declined from 74.6%before the pandemic to 54.7%during the pandemic,and that decline was accompanied by a reduction in the cumulative minutes of MVPA from 580 min to 420 *** the COVID-19 pandemic,male and middle-aged individuals were 1.3 times and 1.2 times more likely to have sufficient MVPA,*** who were unemployed,resided in an urban area,and/or had chronic disease(s)were 27%,13%,and 27%less likely to meet the recommended level of PA during the pandemic,*** who were exposed to the Fit from Home campaign were 1.5 times more likely to have sufficient ***:The pandemic measures imposed by the government have reduced the cumulative min of work-related PA,transportation PA,and recreational PA and have slowed Thailand’s progress toward its PA *** the Fit from Home campaign has probably contributed to a slight increase in MVPA,it will take some time for Thais to return to the pre-COVID-19 level of *** promotion messages need to be continuously delivered to reduce irrational fear

Comprehensive assessment of a post-coronary bypass graft patient with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and multi-detector computed tomography

Coronary bypass graft surgery (CABG) is a revascularization procedure which reduces myocardial ischemia and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in selected patients;however, up to 40% of saphanous vein grafts may degenerate over 10 years. Although coronary angiography is the gold standard to detect graft patency and native vessel disease, sometimes it is difficult to locate the grafts resulting in increased exposure to radiation and contrast administration. This case highlights the utility of cardiac computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging to provide comprehensive noninvasive assessment in a patient post CABG.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2007;4:244-247.)
