Uniformity in premating reproductive isolation along an intraspecific cline

Premating reproductive isolation （RI） may reduce gene flow across populations that have differentiated in traits important for mate choice. Examining RI across genetic and phenotypic clines can inform the fundamental evolutionary processes that underlie population and lineage differentiation. We conducted female mate-choice studies across an intraspecific red-eyed treefrog cline in Costa Rica and Panama with 2 specific aims：（1） to characterize RI across the cline and examine the relationship between premating RI and genetic and phenotypic distance and （2） to evaluate our results within a broader evolutionary and taxonomic perspective through examination of other RI studies. We found that female red-eyed treefrogs prefer local males relative to non-local males, indicating that some premating RI has evolved in this system, but that preference strength is not associated with phenotypic or geographic distance. Our analysis of 65 other studies revealed no clear pattern between the strength of RI and geographic distribution （allopatry, parapatry, cline） or phenotypic distance, but revealed extreme variation and overlap in levels of intra- and interspecific levels of RI. This work contributes to a growing body of literature that examines intraspecific RI across a cline to understand the selective processes that shape evolutionary patterns at the earliest stages of divergence.

Automatic Detection of Nephrops Norvegicus Burrows from Underwater Imagery Using Deep Learning

The Norway lobster,Nephrops norvegicus,is one of the main commercial crustacean fisheries in *** abundance of Nephrops norvegicus stocks is assessed based on identifying and counting the burrows where they live from underwater videos collected by camera systems mounted on *** Spanish Oceanographic Institute(IEO)andMarine Institute Ireland(MIIreland)conducts annual underwater television surveys(UWTV)to estimate the total abundance of Nephrops within the specified area,with a coefficient of variation(CV)or relative standard error of less than 20%.Currently,the identification and counting of the Nephrops burrows are carried out manually by the marine *** is quite a time-consuming *** a solution,we propose an automated system based on deep neural networks that automatically detects and counts the Nephrops burrows in video footage with high *** proposed system introduces a deep-learning-based automated way to identify and classify the Nephrops *** research work uses the current state-of-the-art Faster RCNN models Inceptionv2 and MobileNetv2 for object detection and *** conduct experiments on two data sets,namely,the Smalls Nephrops survey(FU 22)and Cadiz Nephrops survey(FU 30),collected by Marine Institute Ireland and Spanish Oceanographic Institute,*** the results,we observe that the Inception model achieved a higher precision and recall rate than *** best mean Average Precision(mAP)recorded by the Inception model is 81.61%compared to MobileNet,which achieves the best mAP of 75.12%.

A Temporal Domain Decomposition Algorithmic Scheme for Large-Scale Dynamic Traffic Assignment

With emergent interest of Simulation-Based Dynamic Traffic Assignment(SBDTA)in the field of transportation network modeling,deployment of SBDTA models for traffic operations and transportation planning have increased significantly in recent *** parallel,research and development of innovative approaches of the SBDTA model have enhanced the quality of both the assignment component,i.e,improvement of convergence quality of the Dynamic User Equilibrium(DUE)problem,and the traffic simulation ***,computational requirement remains to be one of the great challenges for DTA implementations on large-scale networks with a long analysis *** paper presents a temporal decomposition scheme for large spatial-and temporal-scale dynamic traffic assignment,in which the entire analysis period is divided into *** assignment is performed sequentially in each Epoch,thus improving the model scalability and confining the peak run-time memory requirement regardless of the total analysis period.A proposed self-turning scheme adaptively searches for the run-time-optimal Epoch setting during iterations regardless of the characteristics of the modeled *** numerical experiments confirm the promising performance of the proposed algorithmic schemes.

Immunosuppression is essential to ensure recipient and graft survivals after liver transplantation(LT). However, our understanding and management of the immune system remain suboptimal. Current immunosuppressive therapy cannot selectively inhibit the graft-specific immune response and entails a significant risk of serious side effects, i.e., among others, de novo cancers, infections, cardiovascular events, renal failure, metabolic syndrome, and late graft fibrosis, with progressive loss of graft function. Pharmacological research, aimed to develop alternative immunosuppressive agents in LT, is behind other solidorgan transplantation subspecialties, and, therefore, the development of new compounds and strategies should get priority in LT. The research trajectories cover mechanisms to induce T-cell exhaustion, to inhibit co-stimulation, to mitigate non-antigen-specific inflammatory response, and, lastly, to minimize the development and action of donor-specific antibodies. Moreover, while cellular modulation techniques are complex, active research is underway to foster the action of T-regulatory cells, to induce tolerogenic dendritic cells, and to promote the function of B-regulatory cells. We herein discuss current lines of research in clinical immunosuppression, particularly focusing on possible applications in the LT setting.

Hydrogen transport in metals: Integration of permeation, thermal desorption and degassing

A modelling suite for hydrogen transport during electrochemical permeation, degassing and thermal desorption spectroscopy is presented. The approach is based on Fick＇s diffusion laws, where the initial concentration and diffusion coefficients depend on microstructure and charging conditions. The evolution equations are shown to reduce to classical models for hydrogen diffusion and thermal desorption spectroscopy. The number density of trapping sites is found to be proportional to the mean spacing of each microstructural feature, including dislocations, grain boundaries and various precipitates. The model is validated with several steel grades and polycrystalline nickel for a wide range of processing conditions and microstructures. A systematic study of the factors affecting hydrogen mobility in martensitic steels showed that dislocations control the effective diffusion coefficient of hydrogen. However,they also release hydrogen into the lattice more rapidly than other kind of traps. It is suggested that these effects contribute to the increased susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement in martensitic and other high-strength steels. These results show that the methodology can be employed as a tool for alloy and process design, and that dislocation kinematics play a crucial role in such design.

Modified technique of Wolbachia removal from Malaysian Aedes albopictus

Objective:To develop an artificial and modified Wolbaehia removal technique using tetracycline from naturally Wolbachia infected Aedes albopictus(***)so as to be able to produce generations of Wolbaehia free ***:In this study,seven different tetracycline treatment methods were conducted to obtain the best removal *** methods focused on larvae tetracycline treatment,one method on both larvae and adult tetracycline treatment and the last two methods on adult mosquito sucrose ***:All larval tetracycline treatments resulted in either high larvae mortality,sterile F_o adult mosquitoes or unsuccessful Wolbaehia *** of both larvae and adults resulted in reduced larvae mortality,successful Wolbachia removal but slow mosquito *** for the adult treatment,1.0 mg/mL as previously published was not aisle to completely remove Wolbaehia in F,generation whereas 1.25 mg/mL successfully removed Wolbachia from F,and F,mosquitoes in 2 ***:This method is different from the previously published methods as it provides an improved Watbachia removal technique from *** with high egg *** larvae mortality,increased fecundity and better Wolbaehia removal rate.

Assessment of the performance of the TOPGNSS and ANN-MB antennas for ionospheric measurements using low-cost u-blox GNSS receivers

Low-cost GNSS receivers have recently been gaining reliability as good candidates for ionospheric studies. In line with these gains are genuine concerns about improving the performance of these receivers. In this work, we present a comprehensive investigation of the performances of two antennas(the u-blox ANN-MB and the TOPGNSS TOP-106) used on a low-cost GNSS receiver known as the u-blox ZED-F9P. The two antennas were installed on two identical and co-located u-blox receivers. Data used from both receivers cover the period from January to June 2022. Results from the study indicate that the signal strengths are dominantly greater for the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna than for the receiver with the ANN-MB antenna, implying that the TOPGNSS antenna is better than the ANN-MB antenna in terms of providing greater signal strengths. Summarily, the TOPGNSS antenna also performed better in minimizing the occurrence of cycle slips on phase TEC measurements. There are no conspicuous differences between the variances(computed as 5-min standard deviations) of phase TEC measurements for the two antennas, except for a period around May-June when the TOPGNSS gave a better performance in terms of minimizing the variances in phase TEC. Remarkably, the ANN-MB antenna gave a better performance than the TOPGNSS antenna in terms of minimizing the variances in pseudorange TEC for some satellite observations. For precise horizontal(North and East) positioning, the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna gave better results, while the receiver with the ANN-MB antenna gave better vertical(Up) positioning. The errors for the receivers of both antennas are typically within about 5 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 1 m) in the horizontal direction and within about 10 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 4 m) in the vertical direction.

Municipal Creativity:Approaches to Pluralistic Curatorship in the Israeli Art Scene

This study stems from the understanding of a particular difference between art in ancient times and contemporary art,for while ancient and traditional art were an integral part of one’s daily life,contemporary art is detached and viewing and responding to it is a matter of *** difference lies in the alienation that can exist in contemporary art,which is often not understood by those who do not engage in art as a profession or are not versed in the field of *** a result,a situation has arisen in today’s modern world in which art tends to be the property of a limited public only,and the curatorial work is ostensibly directed at *** study seeks to change this situation through a method defined here as“pluralistic curatorship”,based on the principle of pluralism in Israeli society.A pluralistic approach already exists to some extent on the Israeli art scene,but pluralistic curatorship still requires a defined,cohesive,and structured *** study presents five approaches to achieving such pluralistic curatorship,with the first three sections discussing the theoretical aspects and the last two sections discussing its practical implementation.

Sigalit Landau is an international sculpture,video,installation,and performance artist,born in Jerusalem,and raised also in the USA and the *** infernal main space in her installation“The Dining Hall”(2007,KW Institute for Contemporary Art,Berlin)is filled with images resembling human remains engaged in riotous consumption from huge iron pots,in physical circus-like tricks,and copulation,surrounded by huge fleshy-like *** the immediate association may be that of an apocalyptic catastrophe in relation to the Holocaust,the reference is multifaceted,as this study seeks to *** is a strong connotation of corporeality,gluttony,digestion,decay,and abjection combined with licentiousness,and a proximity between death and *** multiplicity of contexts is embedded in the term décadence,in its connection with Antiquity and mostly with ancient Rome,and calls to mind the Roman Menippean 1st century CE text Satyricon by Petronius.A comparative analysis of Landau’s installation in relation to Satyricon opens up the way to a broad interpretation,revealing much topical and conceptual parallelism that reveals Landau’s engagement with a kind of decadence typical to the contemporary condition and that of Israel in particular.A prominent feature of her installation is that of victimhood and its influence on the Israeli occupation policy and ***,Landau’s installation is interpreted here as an allegory of a particular state of mind,reflecting both decadence and victimhood.
