The aim of the current work is to compare susceptibility maps of landslides produced using machine learning techniques *** perception neural nets(MLP),kernel logistic regression(KLR),random forest(RF),and multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS);novel ensemble approaches ***-Bagging,KLR-Bagging,RFBagging and MARS-Bagging in the Kurseong-Himalayan *** the ensemble models the RF,KLR,MLP and MARS were used as base classifiers,and Bagging was used as meta *** objective of the current work is to introduce and evaluate the effectiveness of the novel KLR-Bagging and MARS-Bagging ensembles in susceptibility to *** 303 landslide locations to calibrate and test the models,an inventory map was *** LCFs were chosen using the Relief-F and multi-collinearity tests for mapping the landslide *** receiver operating characteristic(ROC),precision,accuracy,incorrectly categorized proportion,mean-absolute-error(MAE),and root-mean-square-error(RMSE),the LSMs were subsequently *** different validation results showed RF-Bagging(AUC training 88.69%&testing 92.28%)with ensemble Meta classifier gives better performance than the MLP,KLR,RF,MARS,MLP-Bagging,KLR-Bagging,and MARSBagging based *** model showed that the slope,altitude,rainfall,and geomorphology played the most vital role in landslide occurrence comparing the other *** results will help to reduce the losses caused by the landslides in the Kurseong and in other areas where geo-environmental and geological conditions more or less similar.

This study presents new major,trace and REE data for thirty-five ferromanganese nodules recovered from areas representing three different sediment types(siliceous,red clay and their transition zone)in the Central Indian Ocean Basin(CIOB)to address their genetic aspects,classification,growth rate,nature of host sediments and influence of REE in the processes of nodule *** nodules from CIOB are mostly either hydrogenetic(metals coming from oxygenated bottom water)and diagenetic(metals coming from suboxic sediment pore water)or a combination of both,depending on the source of supply of ***,a number of biogeochemical processes mediate this supply of metals which again changes from time to time,making the nodule growth process highly *** study suggests that at the initial stage of nodule growth,host sediments do not play much role in controlling the growth processes for which REEs can enter both Mn and Fe oxyhydroxide phases ***,the bottom water signature is imprinted in these early formed nodules irrespective of their host sediment substrate but with gradual growth and burial in the sediment,the main mode of metal enrichment becomes diagenetic through sediment pore *** tends to increase the concentration of Mn,Ni and Cu over other elements which are retained in the sediment *** the REEs,Ce concentration of the nodules shows significant positive anomaly due to variation in redox potential and hence its magnitude can be used to get an idea about the metal enrichment procedure and the genetic type of the ***,based on host sediment only,not much difference is found in the magnitude of Ce anomaly in these *** the other hand,discrimination diagram,based on HFSE and REY chemistry,indicates that most of these nodules are of diagenetic origin under oxic condition with a trend towards hydrogenetic ***,the genetic type of the ferromanganese nodules from the CIOB are more effectively differentiated

A first report on tuff beds from the Owk Shale in the Proterozoic Kurnool sub-basin in southern India is presented. The rhyolitic to rhodacitic tufts, overlying shelfal limestones formed at depths below storm wave base, have rheomorphie features indicative of viscoplastic flow, and geochem- ical signatures of rhyolitic to rhyodacitic unwelded to welded tufts, similar to those described from other Proterozoic intracratonic basins like Vindhyan and Chhattisgarh basins in India. Fragmentary nature of altered glass with perlitic cracks and local admixture with intrabasinal sediments suggest phreatomag- matic reactions. The widespread and repeated occurrences of felsic tufts in these basins, possibly derived from low degree melting of continental crust, suggest intermittent tectonothermal instability which likely influenced basinal topography and cyclic development of the carbonate platforms.

Land suitability analysis(LSA)is an evaluation method that measures the degree to which land is suitable for certain land *** primary aims of this study are to identify potentially viable agricultural land in the Gangarampur subdivision(West Bengal)using Multiple Criteria Decision Making(MCDM)and machine learning procedures and to evaluate the efficacy of the employed *** Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)model was used to assign relative weights to the fifteen various criteria in this suitability analysis,and then the Fuzzy Complex Proportional Assessment(FCOPRAS)model was applied using the AHP’s normalised pairwise comparison matrix,whereas the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis(Weka)Software was used to apply machine learning algorithms to the field *** Random Forest(RF)model,on the other hand,is a better fit for the locational study of soil *** to the RF findings,areas of 14.67 per cent(15368.46 ha)are excellent(ZONE Ⅴ)for growing crops,approximately 22.30 per cent(23367.9 ha)are highly suitable(ZONE Ⅳ),and 23.63 per cent(24762.12 ha)are moderately suitable(ZONE Ⅲ)for cultivation,*** numbers for FCOPRAS are roughly 15.39%(16130.52 ha),22.54%(23620.65 ha),and 19.79%(20733.26 ha).The Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)curve and accuracy measurements of the results indicate the high accuracy of the applied models,with Random Forest and FCOPRAS being the most popular and effective *** study will make an important contribution to evaluations of soil fertility and site *** will help local government officials,academics,and farmers scientifically use the land.

High C:N ratio in the wastewater limits biological nitrogen removal(BNR),especially in anammox based *** present study attempts to improve the COD tolerance of the BNR process by associating methanogens with nitrogen removing bacterial(NRB)*** new microbial system coined as‘Methammox’,was investigated for simultaneous removal of COD(C)and ammonia(N)at C:N ratio 1.5:1 to 14:*** ammonia removal rate(11.5 mg N/g VSS/d)and the COD removal rates(70.6 mg O/g VSS/d)of Methammox was close to that of the NRB(11.1 mg N/g VSS/d)and the methanogenic populations(77.9 mg O/g VSS/d),*** activities established that these two populations existed simultaneously and independently in‘Methammox’.Further studies in biofilm reactor fetched a balanced COD and ammonia removal(55%–60%)at a low C:N ratio(£2:1)and high C:N ratio(≥9:1).The population abundance of methanogens was reasonably constant,but the nitrogen removal shifted from mixotrophy to heterotrophy as the C:N ratio shifted from low(C:N£2:1)to high(C:N≥9:1).The reduced autotrophic NRB(ammonia-and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and Anammox)population at a high C:N ratio was compensated by the fermentative group that could carry out denitrification *** functional plasticity of the Methammox system to adjust to a broad C:N ratio opens new frontiers in biological nitrogen removal of high COD containing wastewaters.

Cancer cell dormancy(CCD)in colorectal cancer(CRC)poses a significant challenge to effective *** CRC,CCD contributes to tumour recurrence,drug resistance,and amplifying the disease's *** molecular mechanisms governing CCD and strategies for eliminating dormant cancer cells remain largely ***,understanding the molecular mechanisms governing dormancy is crucial for improving patient outcomes and developing targeted *** editorial highlights the complex interplay of signalling pathways and factors involved in colorectal CCD,emphasizing the roles of Hippo/YAP,pluripotent transcription factors such as NANOG,HIF-1αsignalling,and Notch signalling ***,ERK/p38α/β/MAPK pathways,AKT signalling pathway,and Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer,along with some potential less explored pathways such as STAT/p53 switch and canonical and non-canonical Wnt and SMAD signalling,are also involved in promoting colorectal *** their clinical significance,these findings may offer the potential for identifying key dormancy regulator pathways,improving treatment strategies,surmounting drug resistance,and advancing personalized medicine ***,insights into dormancy mechanisms could lead to the development of predictive biomarkers for identifying patients at risk of recurrence and the tailoring of targeted therapies based on individual dormancy *** is essential to conduct further research into these pathways and their modulation to fully comprehend CRC dormancy mechanisms and enhance patient outcomes.

Moth Flame Optimization(MFO)is a nature-inspired optimization algorithm,based on the principle of navigation technique of moth toward *** to less parameter and easy implementation,MFO is used in various field to solve optimization ***,for the complex higher dimensional problems,MFO is unable to make a good trade-off between global and local *** overcome these drawbacks of MFO,in this work,an enhanced MFO,namely WF-MFO,is introduced to solve higher dimensional optimization *** a more optimal balance between global and local search,the original MFO’s exploration ability is improved by an exploration operator,namely,Weibull flight *** addition,the local optimal solutions have been avoided and the convergence speed has been increased using a Fibonacci search process-based technique that improves the quality of the solutions ***-nine benchmark functions of varying complexity with 1000 and 2000 dimensions have been utilized to verify the projected *** popular algorithms and MFO versions have been compared to the achieved *** addition,the robustness of the proposed WF-MFO method has been evaluated using the Friedman rank test,the Wilcoxon rank test,and convergence *** to other methods,the proposed WF-MFO algorithm provides higher quality solutions and converges more quickly,as shown by the ***,the proposed WF-MFO has been used to the solution of two engineering design issues,with striking *** improved performance of the proposed WF-MFO algorithm for addressing larger dimensional optimization problems is guaranteed by analyses of numerical data,statistical tests,and convergence performance.

In an environment,the food chains are balanced by the prey-predator *** a predator species is provided with more than one prey population,it avails the option of prey switching between prey species according to their ***,prey switching of predators mainly helps to increase the overall growth rate of a predator *** this work,we have proposed a two prey-one predator system where the predator population adopts switching behavior between two prey species at the time of *** the prey population exhibit a strong Allee effect and the predator population is considered to be a generalist *** proposed system is biologically well-defined as the system variables are positive and do not increase abruptly with *** local stability analysis reveals that all the predator-free equilibria are saddle points whereas the prey-free equilibrium is always *** intrinsic growth rates of prey,the strong Allee parameters,and the prey refuge parameters are chosen to be the controlling parameters *** numerical simulation reveals that in absence of one prey,the other prey refuge parameter can change the system dynamics by forming a stable or unstable limit ***,a situation of bi-stability,tri-stability,or even multi-stability of equilibrium points occurs in this *** in presence of the switching effect,the predator chooses prey according to their abundance,so,increasing refuge in one prey population decreases the count of the second prey *** is also observed that the count of predator population reaches a comparatively higher value even if they get one prey population at its fullest quantity and only a portion of other prey ***,in the scarcity of one prey species,switching to the other prey is beneficial for the growth of the predator population.

Model Predictive Control of Resonant Systems Using Kautz Model

The scope of this paper broadly spans in two areas： system identification of resonant system and design of an efficient control scheme suitable for resonant systems. Use of filters based on orthogonal basis functions （OBF） have been advocated for modelling of resonant process. Kautz filter has been identified as best suited OBF for this purpose. A state space based system identification technique using Kautz filters, viz. Kautz model, has been demonstrated. Model based controllers are believed to be more efficient than classical controllers because explicit use of process model is essential with these modelling techniques. Extensive literature search concludes that very few reports are available which explore use of the model based control studies on resonant system. Two such model based controllers are considered in this work, viz. model predictive controller and internal model controller. A model predictive control algorithm has been developed using the Kautz model. The efficacy of the model and the controller has been verified by two case studies, viz. linear second order underdamped process and a mildly nonlinear magnetic ball suspension system. Comparative assessment of performances of these controllers in those case studies have been carried out.
