Nuclear phylogenomics of angiosperms and insights into their relationships and evolution

Angiosperms(flowering plants) are by far the most diverse land plant group with over 300,000 species. The sudden appearance of diverse angiosperms in the fossil record was referred to by Darwin as the “abominable mystery,”hence contributing to the heightened interest in angiosperm evolution. Angiosperms display wide ranges of morphological, physiological,and ecological characters, some of which have probably influenced their species richness. The evolutionary analyses of these characteristics help to address questions of angiosperm diversification and require well resolved phylogeny. Following the great successes of phylogenetic analyses using plastid sequences,dozens to thousands of nuclear genes from next-generation sequencing have been used in angiosperm phylogenomic analyses, providing well resolved phylogenies and new insights into the evolution of angiosperms. In this review we focus on recent nuclear phylogenomic analyses of large angiosperm clades, orders, families,and subdivisions of some families and provide a summarized Nuclear Phylogenetic Tree of Angiosperm Families. The newly established nuclear phylogenetic relationships are highlighted and compared with previous phylogenetic results. The sequenced genomes of Amborella,Nymphaea, Chloranthus, Ceratophyllum, and species of monocots, magnoliids, and basal eudicots, have facilitated the phylogenomics of relationships among five major angiosperms clades. All but one of the 64 angiosperm orders were included in nuclear phylogenomics with well resolved relationships except the placements of several orders. Most families have been included with robust and highly supported placements, especially for relationships within several large and important orders and ***, we examine the divergence time estimation and biogeographic analyses of angiosperm on the basis of the nuclear phylogenomic frameworks and discuss the differences compared with previous analyses. The Novel long QT Syndrome Type 2-associated F129I Mutation in the KCNH2 Gene Significantly Affects IKr Through the hERG1 Homomeric and Heteromeric Potassium Channels

Realization of low in-Band Harmonic for Compact 6–18-GHz T/R Module Under TX-Mode Operation

Wideband high power amplifier(pa) with poor harmonic suppression will degrade the performance of the active electronically scanned array(AESA) due to its harmonic products falling into the operating bandwidth of a wideband T/R module. In view of this, a compact reconfigurable harmonic suppress circuit(HSC) is proposed to achieve low in-band harmonic for compact T/R module with multiple octaves under TX-mode operation. The HSC consists of eight microstrip resonant stubs with high impedance and multiple p-i-n switches. By controlling the p-i-n switches, the HSC can work in three states. When six of the used p-i-n switches are “ON” state, the corresponding microstrip resonant stubs are loaded onto the 50 Ω transmission line, which performs a bandstop filter(BSF). For verification, the HSC with bandwidth of 12–15 GHz/15–18 GHz is designed to apply to a 6–18 GHz T/R module. As a result, the second harmonic of 6–9 GHz transmitting signal can be suppressed below 32 d Bc when compared to the pa's fundamental output. While the p-i-n switches are “OFF” state, the HSC is almost the same as a 50 Ω transmission line, which will have a little effect on the 9–18 GHz transmitting signal. The measurement results approximately agree with the calculated results and simulated results, which demonstrate the validity of the proposed HSC.

Improving chitosan-based composite membrane by introducing a novel hybrid functional nano-hydroxyapatite with carboxymethyl cellulose and phytic acid

A functional hybrid nano-hydroxyapatite(carboxymethyl cellulose-phytic acid-n-HA,CMC-pa-n-HA)was prepared by adding CMC and *** results of Fourier transformation infrared spectra,X-ray diffraction,thermal gravimetric analysis and dispersion experiments indicated that the addition of CMC and pa affected the morphology,crystallinity and crystal size of hybrid n-HA,and CMC endowed hybrid n-HA with excellent *** electron microscope results showed that CMC-pa-n-HA nanoparticle could be uniformly dispersed in chitosan(CS)matrix to obtain composite membrane by casting technology,so that the highest tensile strength of CMC-pa-n-HA/CS composite membrane was 69.64%and 144.45%higher than that of CS membrane and n-HA/CS composite membrane,*** angle test showed that CMC-pa-n-HA effectively improved hydrophilicity of the CS *** simulated body fluid immersion results indicated that the CMC-pa-n-HA/CS composite membrane not only exhibited good degradability but also promoted bone-like apatite *** cell proliferation experiments proved that the introduction of pa made the composite membrane have better cell adhesion and proliferation *** tests demonstrated that pa could effectively improve the antibacterial properties of the composite membrane,which is expected to be applied as guide bone tissue regeneration membrane.

Entangled photon pair generation in an integrated SiC platform

Entanglement plays a vital role in quantum information *** to its unique material properties,silicon carbide recently emerged as a promising candidate for the scalable implementation of advanced quantum information processing *** date,however,only entanglement of nuclear spins has been reported in silicon carbide,while an entangled photon source,whether it is based on bulk or chip-scale technologies,has remained ***,we report the demonstration of an entangled photon source in an integrated silicon carbide platform for the first ***,strongly correlated photon pairs are efficiently generated at the telecom C-band wavelength through implementing spontaneous four-wave mixing in a compact microring resonator in the 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator *** maximum coincidence-to-accidental ratio exceeds 600 at a pump power of 0.17 mW,corresponding to a pair generation rate of(9±1)×103 pairs/***-time entanglement is created and verified for such signal-idler photon pairs,with the two-photon interference fringes exhibiting a visibility larger than 99%.The heralded single-photon properties are also measured,with the heralded g(2)(0)on the order of 10−3,demonstrating the SiC platform as a prospective fully integrated,complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor compatible single-photon source for quantum applications.

Modelling of the variation of granular base materials resilient modulus with material characteristics and humidity conditions

This study aims to quantify the susceptibility of granular materials used in pavements to changes in moisture content and propose a correlation model to incorporate this susceptibility into seasonal *** fines content and the percentage of fractured coarse aggregates were identified as direct indicators of the resilient modulus susceptibility to changes in water *** results showed that the percentage of fractured coarse aggregates particles(FR)has a more significant impact on the resilient modulus(Er)of crushed granular materials used in pavement construction than the combined indicator of the fines content and sample volumetrics(nf).Crushed granular materials with a higher percentage of fractured coarse aggregates are relatively insensitive to changes in the degree of saturation,but become more sensitive as the fine fraction porosity *** adjusted model was proposed based on the existing formulation,but considers a complex parameter to describe and adjust the sensitivity of base granular materials to variations in moisture content with respect to fabrication charac-teristics,fines content and volumetric *** model shows that the variation of Er values is below10%for fully crushed granular ***,it reaches approximately±12%for materials with 75%of crushed coarse aggregates andþ40%and-25%for materials with FR=50%.This model could help select good ag-gregates characteristics and adjust grain-size distribution for environments where significant moisture content variations can occur in the pavement system,such as in the Province of Quebec(Canada).As it is based on pa-rameters that can be easily determined or estimated,it also represents a valuable tool for detailed design and analysis that can consider material characteristics.

Mutual antagonism of mouse-adaptation mutations in HA and pa proteins on H9N2 virus replication

Avian H9N2 viruses have wide host range among the influenza A ***,knowledge of H9N2 mammalian adaptation is *** explore the molecular basis of the adaptation to mammals,we performed serial lung passaging of the H9N2 strain A/chicken/Hunan/8.27 YYGK3W3-OC/2018(3W3)in mice and identified six mutations in the hemagglutinin(HA)and polymerase acidic(pa)*** L226Q,T511I,and A528V of HA were responsible for enhanced pathogenicity and viral replication in mice;notably,HA-L226Q was the key *** T97I,I545V,and S594G of pa contributed to enhanced polymerase activity in mammalian cells and increased viral replication levels in vitro and in ***-T97I increased viral polymerase activity by accelerating the viral polymerase complex *** findings revealed that the viral replication was affected by the presence of pa-97I and/or pa-545V in combination with a triple-point HA ***,the double-and triple-point pa mutations demonstrated antagonistic effect on viral replication when combined with ***,any combination of pa mutations,along with double-point HA mutations,resulted in antagonistic effect on viral *** also observed antagonism in viral replication between pa-545V and pa-97I,as well as between HA-528V and *** findings demonstrated that several antagonistic mutations in HA and pa proteins affect viral replication,which may contribute to the H9N2 virus adaptation to mice and mammalian *** findings can potentially contribute to the monitoring of H9N2 field strains for assessing their potential risk in mammals.

Room-temperature synthesis of full-component APbX_(3)perovskite nanocrystal inks for optoelectronic applications

Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals(PNCs)have received great research interests due to their excellent optoelectronic ***,high temperature,inert gas protection and insulating long-chain ligands are used during the conventional hot-injection synthesis of PNCs,which limits their practical *** this work,we first develop a simple and scalable polar-solvent-free method for the preparation of full-component APbX_(3)(A=Cs,methylammonium(ma),formamidinium(FA),X=Cl,Br,I)PNCs under ambient *** an exothermic reaction between butylamine(BA)and propionic acid(pa)short ligands,the PbX_(2) precursors could be well dissolved without use of any polar ***,the relatively lower growth rate of PNCs in our room-temperature reaction enables us to modulate the synthetic procedure to enhance the scalability(40-fold)and achieve large-scale *** resultant short ligands passivated PNC inks are compatible with varying solution depositing technique like spray coating for large-area ***,we showcase that adopting the as-prepared maPbI_(3) PNC inks,a self-powered photodetector is fabricated and shows a high *** results demonstrate that our ambient-condition synthetic approach can accelerate the preparation of tunable and ready-to-use PNCs towards commercial optoelectronic applications.

A multi-mechanism numerical simulation model for CO_(2)-EOR and storage in fractured shale oil reservoirs
