Extraction of aluminium as aluminium sulphate from thermal power plant fly ashes

Valuable metal extraction technology from thermal power plant fly ash is *** the present study,aluminium is extracted from fly ash as highly pure aluminium sulphate(>99.0%)by leaching with sulphuric acid,followed by pre-concentration and successive *** types of fly ashes from different sources,i.e.,Talcher Thermal Power Station(TTPS)and Vedanta Aluminium Company Limited(VAL)were chosen for comparative study on the extraction of aluminium as aluminium *** product is characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Purity of aluminium sulphate was also investigated by inductively coupled plasma?optical emission spectrometry(ICP?OES).The extraction efficiency of aluminium depends on the varied solid-to-liquid ratio(fly ash:18mol/L h2SO4,g/mL)and particle size of fly ***-chemical analysis indicates that the obtained product is Al2(SO4)3·18h2O,having low iron content(0.08%).

目的:观测研究下坡(离心)运动对大鼠骨骼肌肌浆网Ca2+-ATP酶活性,Ca2+摄取与释放在量与时程上的影响。此外,测定离子载体的刺激作用,即测定在含与不含(Ca2+离子载体)A23187时Ca2+-ATP酶活性的比值,用以评定囊泡的完整性。方法:成年雄性SD大鼠随机分为对照与离心运动组,离心运动的大鼠分别于运动后即刻,4,24,48,72和144h后取样(n=7).离心运动方式采用90min持续跑台下坡运动(-16°;15m/min)。取大鼠红股肌制备组织匀浆,测定肌浆网Ca2+-ATP酶活性,Ca2+摄取与释放。结果:与对照组[19.25±1.38nmol·min-1·(mg protein)-1]相比,肌浆网Ca2+摄取分别于运动后即刻和4h下降了29% and 36%(Ph依然降低(Ph下降了37% and 39%(Ph持续降低(Ph降低了31%(Ph仍然降低(P<0.05)。运动后,含与不含A23187时测定的Ca2+-ATP酶活性的比值未见显著性改变,表明该运动没有明显改变肌浆网膜的完整性。结论:一次性低强度,长时间下坡运动导致肌浆网功能长时间降低,运动后恢复期两天尚未完全恢复,亦可构成离心运动诱导的骨骼肌某些功能降低的基础。提示这些变化可能产生于离心收缩时肌节长度不匀一性所造成的张力应激。

The (100) texture of solidified fcc metals, caused by the preferential (100) dendrite growth, could be closeIy related to solid/melt interfaces which behave differently along different crystallographic orientation. The stability and roughness of {111} and {100} solid/melt interfaces of fcc metals were investigated using a modified Temkin multi-layer model. It is demonstrated that {100}crystal/melt interface is more unstable and rougher than {111} interface. The effect of the stability of crystal/melt interface on the (100) texture formation in solidified fcc metals has been analysed and discussed.

Two-dimensional Langevin modeling of fission dynamics of the excited compound nuclei ^(188)Pt,^(227)pa and ^(251)Es

A stochastic approach based on one-and two-dimensional Langevin equations is applied to calculate the pre-scission neutron multiplicity,fission probability,anisotropy of fission fragment angular distribution,fission cross section and the evaporation cross section for the compound nuclei ^188Pt,^227pa and ^251Es in an intermediate range of excitation *** chaos weighted wall and window friction formula are used in the Langevin *** elongation parameter,c,is used as the first dimension and projection of the total spin of the compound nucleus onto the symmetry axis,K,considered as the second dimension in Langevin dynamical calculations.A constant dissipation coefficient of K,γk=0.077（MeV zs）^-1/2）,is used in two-dimensional calculations to reproduce the above mentioned experimental *** of the theoretical results of the pre-scission neutron multiplicity,fission probability,fission cross section and the evaporation cross section with the experimental data shows that the results of two-dimensional calculations are in better agreement with the experimental ***,it is shown that the two-dimensional Langevin equations together with a dissipation coefficient of K,γk=0.077（MeV zs）^-1/2,can satisfactorily reproduce the anisotropy of fission fragment angular distribution for the heavy compound nucleus^***,a larger value of γk=0.250（MeV zs）^-1/2is needed to reproduce the anisotropy of fission fragment angular distribution for the lighter compound nucleus^227pa.

Effects of longwall-induced stress and deformation on the stability and mechanical integrity of shale gas wells drilled through a longwall abutment pillar

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study conducted by CONSOL Energy, Marcellus Shale Coalition, and Pennsylvania Coal Association to evaluate the effects of longwall-induced subsurface deformations on the mechanical integrity of shale gas wells drilled over a longwall abutment *** primary objective is to demonstrate that a properly constructed gas well in a standard longwall abutment pillar can maintain mechanical integrity during and after mining operations. A study site was selected over a southwestern Pennsylvania coal mine, which extracts 457-m-wide longwall faces under about 183 m of cover. Four test wells and four monitoring wells were drilled and installed over a 38-m by84-m centers abutment pillar. In addition to the test wells and monitoring wells, surface subsidence measurements and underground coal pillar pressure measurements were conducted as the 457-m-wide longwall panels on the south and north sides of the abutment pillar were mined by. To evaluate the resulting coal protection casing profile and lateral displacement, three separate 60-arm caliper surveys were conducted. This research represents a very important step and initiative to utilize the knowledge and science obtained from mining research to improve miner and public safety as well as the safety and health of the oil and gas industries.

Measuring nanoscale friction at graphene step edges

Although graphene is well known for super-lubricity on its basal plane, friction at its step edge is not well understood and contradictory friction behaviors have been reported. In this study, friction of mono-layer thick graphene step edges was studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM) with a Si tip in dry nitrogen atmosphere. It is found that, when the tip slides over a'buried' graphene step edge, there is a resistive force during the step-up motion and an assistive force during the step-down motion due to the topographic height change. The magnitude of these two forces is small and the same in both step-up and step-down motions. As for the'exposed' graphene step edge, friction increases in magnitude and exhibits more complicated behaviors. During the step-down motion of the tip over the exposed step edge, both resistive and assistive components can be detected in the lateral force signal of AFM if the scan resolution is sufficiently high. The resistive component is attributed to chemical interactions between the functional groups at the tip and step-edge surfaces, and the assistive component is due to the topographic effect, same as the case of buried step edge. If a blunt tip is used, the distinct effects of these two components become more prominent. In the step-up scan direction, the blunt tip appears to have two separate topographic effects–elastic deformation of the contact region at the bottom of the tip due to the substrate height change at the step edge and tilting of the tip while the vertical position of the cantilever (the end of the tip) ascends from the lower terrace to the upper terrace. The high-resolution measurement of friction behaviors at graphene step edges will further enrich understanding of interfacial friction behaviors on graphene-covered surfaces.

Coherence and Decoherence of a Localized Excitation on a Surface Adatom

A theory of coherent excitation of a localized state on an adatom by two-photon photoemission spectroscopy (TR-2PPE) is presented within a microscopic model and the time-dependent formalism. Coherent oscillation and incoherent population decay of the excitation are obtained, and are shown to attain well-defined lifetime constants only in the long-delay limit. In addition, we have found a competing excitation channel via electron transfer. The theory is applied to Cs/Cu (111), which reproduces a few qualitative features observed in recent experiments. The effect of atomic motion on the 2PPE spectra, which manifests dominantly as a redshift in the spectrum, has been analysed.
