Productivity Growth, Technological Progress, and Efficiency Change in Vietnamese Manufacturing Industries: A Stochastic Frontier Approach

this study applies a stochastic frontier production approach to decompose the sources of total productivity (TFP) growth into technical progress and changes in technical efficiency of 8057 firms in Vietnamese manufacturing industries during 2003-2007. Using both total manufacturing industry and sub-manufacturing industrial regressions, the analysis focuses on the trend of technological progress (TP) and technical efficiency change (TEC), and the role of productivity change in economic growth. According to the estimated results, the annual technical progress for the manufacturing industry and sub-manufacturing industries are calculated directly from the estimated parameters of the translog stochastic frontier production function by taking a partial derivative of output with respect to time t. The average technical changes in manufacturing industry and sub-manufacturing industries are positive, with an average technical change about 5.2%, 5.8%, 5.4%, 11.8%, 4.6%, 4.1%, 7.3%, 4.8%, 4.8% and 4.8% for total sample, food products & beverages, textile & wearing apparel, footwear, paper & products, industrial chemicals, rubber & plastic products, non- metallic mineral, basic & fabricated metal and other sub-industries, respectively. Total TFP in the manufacturing sector has grown at the annual rate of 0.052, although the rate of growth decreased continuously during the sample period. For the sub-industry estimates during the sample period, TFP grew fastest in the footwear sub-industry, with annual average growth rate of 11.8%, followed by the rubber & plastic products with a rate of 7.3%, and the food products & beverages with a rate of 5.8% per annum.

Characterization of Electrochromic Properties of Polyaniline thin Films Electropolymerized in H₂SO₄ Solution

Polyaniline (PANI) onto indium-doped tin-oxide (ITO)-coated glass samples were prepared by electroopolymerization in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution. Structure and morphology characterization of the PANI films demonstrated that the films were grown onto ITO substrates in the form of polycrystalline microbelts separated by micropores. By analysing the UV-Vis absorption spectra of the PANI films, the energy bandgap was found to be approximately 2.75 eV. The PANI/ITO films exhibited a good reversible electrochromic display (ECD) performance when cycled in 0.1 M LiClO4 + pro-pylene carbonate. The response time of the ECD coloration was found to be as small as 15 s and the coloration efficiency was found to be 8.85 cm2 C-1. After 100 cycles of the ECD performance, the cyclic voltammetry curve of the working electrode maintained unchanged. this demonstrates that the electropolymerized PANI films can be served as a good candidate for ECD applications, taking advantage of their excellent properties in terms of chemical stability.

通货膨胀是一个常见的经济现象，但是高通胀在经济生活中仍然是一个热点问题。从过去的几十年到现在，通货膨胀的决定因素及其波动情况在越南一直是焦点问题。从1980年到最近越南的居民消费指数（CPI）一直呈现较高的情形。特别是1980年到1990年长达十年的时间里通胀严重。仅除了2000年到2003年之间，越南通胀率很低并且稳定在5%以下。到了2007年和2008年之间，越南又面临着两位数字的通胀率（2007年：12%、2008年：22%），是越南通胀率的历史中达到最高的数字。随着高通胀这种现象越来越明显，已经引起了各阶层人民的关注。不同的学者针对通货膨胀及其控制通货膨胀的方法，提出了不同的观点。所以研究通货膨胀的原因和影响是具有重要的经济意义的。本文的研究目的是找出现阶段导致越南经济出现高通货膨胀率的原因，并通过分析这些因素来研究预防和治理通货膨胀的方法。在总结前人研究越南通货膨胀的基础上，以及根据经典宏观经济学理论来分析和评价。理论定性分析了引发到越南高通货膨胀的宏观经济因素，然后选取了能够代表和测量越南通货膨胀成因的各个指标，在此基础上，提出了相应的计量经济学模型—VAR模型，得出引发越南通货膨胀的各个因子。通过计量经济学模型找到了引发越南通胀的确切诱因，并实证了不同因素对越南通胀率的影响。本文的实证分析是采用越南2000年至2013年的宏观经济季度数据进行分析和检验。得出主要的研究结果是：通货膨胀受自身的影响，经济增长与通货膨胀是相互影响的。在短期内，汇率与货币供应量是两个对越南通货膨胀有明显影响的的因子。在长期中，贸易逆差因子是导致越南通胀上升的原因。

AIM:To understand retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)screening and treatment preferences among Chinese ***:A Chinese language survey was administered anonymously using Web Q(Catalyst,Seattle,WA,USA)among Chinese ROP screeners from December 2016 to January ***:Among 70 ophthalmologists contacted,65 responded(93%;78%female,mean age 40 y,57%pediatric ophthalmologists and 25%retina specialists).Most used screening criteria of birth weight≤2 kg(62%)with variation in cut-off gestational age(≤37 wk,34%;≤34 wk,22%;≤32 wk,31%).Ret Cam(Natus Medical Incorporated,Pleasanton,CA,USA)wide-field fundus photography assisted most screeners(72%)and was exclusively used by many(29%).Among 55 ophthalmologists treating ROP,anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)was preferred over laser for both zoneⅠ(76%vs 24%)and zoneⅡROP(58%vs 42%).Retina specialists(P=0.004)and ophthalmologists with>3 mo of training(P=0.03)were more likely to use antiVEGF over laser for zoneⅠ*** of laser training(8/20,40%),access(6/20,30%)and anesthesia(4/20,20%)were common barriers to laser ***:Chinese ROP screeners favor antiVEGF injection and Ret Cam imaging for ROP management.A better understanding of ROP screening and treatment informs future research and education efforts in China.

Phylogenetic Analysis of Baculovirus Isolates from Diseased Insects in Southern Vietnam

The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular identification and assess the genetic relationship of baculovirus isolated from Southern Vietnam. The diseased insect samples were collected from the different fields. The partial sequence of 450 base pairs of lef-8 gene was amplified and sequenced to assess the genetic variations of baculovirus isolates specific for Spodoptera litura, Helicoverpa zea, and Helicoverpa armigera. The sequences alignment demonstrated that Helicoverpa zea specific isolates exhibited six single nucleotide polymorphic sites. Whereas, twenty five single polymorphic sites were found in Spodoptera litura specific isolates. Thus, Spodoptera litura specific isolates were higher polymorphic than Helicoverpa zea specific isolates. The genetic distance analyses showed that the distance between Vietnamese baculovirus isolates and Group II Alphabaculovirus isolates was lower than other Baculovirus groups. The phylogeny of Vietnamese isolates in relation to other baculovirus isolates was also determined using partial sequences of lef-8 gene. The phylogenetic tree placed all Vietnamese isolates in Group II Alphabaculovirus, where seven Vietnamese Helicoverpa zea specific isolates were most closely related to Helicoverpa zea SNPV, fourteen Vietnamese Spodoptera litura specific isolates were located with Spodoptera litura NPV-G2 in one clade and a Vietnamese Helicoverpa armigera isolate was appeared to be closely related to Helicoverpa armigera SNPV-NNg1, Helicoverpa armigera NPV-C1, Helicoverpa armigera NPV-G4.

Efficacy of He-Ne Laser in Combination with Topical Clindamycin in the Treatment of Acne Vulgaris (AV)

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of He-Ne laser in combination with topical clindamycin in the treatment of AV at 108 Military Central Hospital from Oct 2015 to Aug 2016. Subjects and Methods: 61 patients with AV were divided into 2 groups: Group 1: 31 patients were treated with He-Ne laser in combination with topical Clindamycin, Group 2: 30 patients were only treated with topical clindamycin. Laser HE-NE was applied 2 times/week for 6 weeks. Result: After 3 months of treatment Group 1: very good—51.6%, good—48.4%. Group 2: very good—30%, good—50% and moderate—20%. Conclusion: The combination of He-Ne laser with topical clindamycin shows more rapid clinical improvement compared to topical clindamycin alone in the treatment of mild and moderate AV.

Two triterpenoid saponins, 6, 7, together with five known compounds were isolated from the roots of Arachis hypogea L. collected in Vietnam. Their structures were established by spectroscopic analysis (1D, 2D NMR and HRMS) as well as by comparison with those reported in the literature. Furthermore, the high content of resveratrol in the roots opens a new potential resource for pharmaceutical companies to prepare medicines from the wasted peanut roots.

Management of patients with a failed kidney transplant: Dialysis reinitiation, immunosuppression weaning, and transplantectomy

The number of patients reinitiating dialysis after a failed transplant increases over time and has more than doubled between the year 1988 and 2010 （an increase from 2463 to 5588）. More importantly, patients returning to dialysis have been shown to have a greater thanthree-fold increase in the annual adjusted mortality rates compared with those with a functioning graft. Continuation of immunosuppression to preserve residual graft function has been implicated to be a contributing factor, seemingly due to immunosuppression-ass-ociated cardiovascular and infectious complications and malignancy risk, among others. Nonetheless, maintenance low-dose immunosuppression has been suggested to confer survival beneft in patients returning to peritoneal dialysis. Whether early vs late reinitiation of dialysis or whether transplantectomy has an impact on patient survival remains poorly defined. Consensus guidelines for the management of a failed allograft are lacking. In this article, we present a literature overview on the ideal timing of dialysis reinitiation after graft loss, the management of immunosuppression after graft failure, and the risks and benefits of transplantectomy. The authors’ perspectives on the management of this special patient population are also discussed.
