Cracking the superheavy pyrite enigma: possible roles of volatile organosulfur compound emission

The global deposition of superheavy pyrite(pyrite isotopically heavier than coeval seawater sulfate in the Neoproterozoic Era and particularly in the Cryogenian Period) defies explanation using the canonical marine sulfur cycle system. Here we report petrographic and sulfur isotopic data(δS) of superheavy pyrite from the Cryogenian Datangpo Formation(660–650 Ma) in South China. Our data indicate a syndepositional/early diagenetic origin of the Datangpo superheavy pyrite, withS-enriched HS supplied from sulfidic(HS rich) seawater. Instructed by a novel sulfur-cycling model, we propose that the emission ofS-depleted volatile organosulfur compounds(VOSC) that were generated via sulfide methylation may have contributed to the formation ofS-enriched sulfidic seawater and superheavy pyrite. The global emission of VOSC may be attributed to enhanced organic matter production after the Sturtian glaciation in the context of widespread sulfidic conditions. These findings demonstrate that VOSC cycling is an important component of the sulfur cycle in Proterozoic oceans.

Static analysis is an efficient approach for software assurance. It is indicated that its most effective usage is to perform analysis in an interactive way through the software development process, which has a high performance requirement. This paper concentrates on rule-based static analysis tools and proposes an optimized rule-checking algorithm. Our technique improves the performance of static analysis tools by filtering vulnerability rules in terms of characteristic objects before checking source files. Since a source file always contains vulnerabilities of a small part of rules rather than all, our approach may achieve better performance. To investigate our technique's feasibility and effectiveness, we implemented it in an open source static analysis tool called PMD and used it to conduct experiments. Experimental results show that our approach can obtain an average performance promotion of 28.7% compared with the original PMD. While our approach is effective and precise in detecting vulnerabilities, there is no side effect.

Bone metastasis secondary to breast cancer negatively impacts patient quality of life and *** treatment of bone metastases is challenging since many anticancer drugs are not effectively delivered to the bone to exert a therapeutic *** improve the treatment efficacy,we developed Pluronic P123(P123)-based polymeric micelles dually decorated with alendronate(ALN)and cancer-specific phage protein DMPGTVLP(DP-8)for targeted drug delivery to breast cancer bone ***(DOX)was selected as the anticancer drug and was encapsulated into the hydrophobic core of the micelles with a high drug loading capacity(3.44%).The DOX-loaded polymeric micelles were spherical,123 nm in diameter on average,and exhibited a narrow size *** in vitro experiments demonstrated that a pH decrease from 7.4 to 5.0 markedly accelerated DOX *** micelles were well internalized by cultured breast cancer cells and the cell death rate of micelle-treated breast cancer cells was increased compared to that of free DOX-treated *** binding of the micelles to hydroxyapatite(HA)microparticles indicated their high affinity for bone.P123-ALN/DP-8@DOX inhibited tumor growth and reduced bone resorption in a 3D cancer bone metastasis *** vivo experiments using a breast cancer bone metastasis nude model demonstrated increased accumulation of the micelles in the tumor region and considerable antitumor activity with no organ-specific histological damage and minimal systemic *** conclusion,our study provided strong evidence that these pH-sensitive dual ligand-targeted polymeric micelles may be a successful treatment strategy for breast cancer bone metastasis.

In this paper, we study entanglement dynamics of a two-qubit extended Werner-like state locally, interacting with independent noisy channels, i.e., amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarizing channels. We show that the purity of initial entangled state has direct impacts on the entanglement robustness in each noisy channel. That is, if the initial entangled state is prepared in mixed instead of pure form, the state may exhibit entanglement sudden death （ESD） and/or be decreased for the critical probability at which the entanglement disappear.

An alternative approach to synthesize pedamide, a key building block of pederin was described. Iodine-induced asymmetric heterocyclization was used as the key step to construct the skeleton, a tetrahydropyran ring with three chiral centers. Brown＇s asymmetric allylation and Lewis acid-mediated allylation were investigated to introduce chains and chiral alcohols. Sharpless dihydroxylation decorated the side chain. And high optically pure target was obtained by removing the epimers formed in these reactions on column chromatography.C2009 Ji Jun Xue. BaTiO3 films were prepared by microarc oxidation (MAO) with an in-house built alternating current (AC) power supply in Ba(OH)2 solution in this study. The surface morphology, combinability with the substrate and phase composition of the films were investigated by XRD, SEM and TEM. The BaTiO3 films were annealed at a temperature range of 900 to 1200℃ and phase compositions were tested thereafter. The results showed that the BaTiO3 films were mainly composed of the primitive hexagonal phase with relatively small amount of tetragonal and amorphous phases. Moreover, the amount of amorphous phase decreased with the time of annealing. The transformation of BaTiO3 from hexagonal structure to tetragonal stucture became obvious until the annealing temperature reached 1200℃. The film consisted mainly of BaTiO3 tetragonal structure with ferroelectric property. The influence of annealing on surface morphology and mechanism of phase transformation of the films were also discussed.
