The effect of surface mechanical attrition treatment （sMAT） of commercially pure titanium （CP-Ti） us.ng 8 mm O alumina balls was studied. sMAT induced plastic deformation, increased the surface roughness, reduced the grain size and decreased the contact angle （from 64° to 43°） with a corresponding increase in surface energy （from 32 to 53 mJ/m2）. Untreated CP-Ti and those treateded us.ng alumina bails for 900 s reveals.no apatite growth until the 28th day of immersion whereas those treated for 1800 and 2700 s exhibit apatite growth In selective areas and the extent of growth is increased with increase in immersion time an sBF; The study reveals that sMAT us.ng alumina balls is beneficial in imparting the desired surface Cheracteristics, provided the surface contamination is limited, which would otherwise decrease the apatite forming ability.

BACKGROUnD The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is increas.ng in *** risk factors associated with IBD development have been *** To investigate trends and environmental risk factors of Crohn’s disease(CD)diagnosed in pers.ns aged≥40 years in south *** Us.ng the national Health Insurance service database,a total of 14060821 pers.ns aged>40 years who underwent national health screening in 2009 were followed up until December *** with newly diagnosed CD were enrolled and compared with non-CD *** was identified according to the International Classification of Diseases 10th revision and the rare/intractable disease registration program codes from the national Health Insurance service *** mean follow-up periods was 7.39 ***,sex,diabetes,hypertension,smoking,alcohol consumption,regular exercise,body mass index,anemia,chronic kidney disease(CKD)and dyslipidemia were adjusted for in the multivariate analysis *** During the follow-up,1337(1.33/100000)patients developed *** in the middle-aged group(40-64 years)had a higher risk than women[adjusted hazard ratio(aHR)1.46,95%confidence interval(CI):1.29-1.66];however,this difference tended to disappear as the age of onset *** the middle-aged group,patients with a history of smoking[(aHR 1.46,95%CI:1.19-1.79)and anemia(aHR 1.85,95%CI:1.55-2.20)]had a significantly higher CD *** the elderly group(age,≥65 years),ex-smoking and anemia also increased the CD risk(aHR 1.68,95%CI:1.22-2.30)and 1.84(95%CI:1.47-2.30,respectively).Especially in the middle-aged group,those with CKD had a statistically elevated CD risk(aHR 1.37,95%CI:1.05-1.79).Alcohol consumption and higher body mass index showed negative association trend with CD incidence in both of the age groups.[Middle-aged:aHR 0.77(95%CI:0.66-0.89)and aHR 0.73(95% CI:0.63-0.84),respectively][Elderly-group:aHR 0.57(95% CI:0.42-0.78)and aHR 0.84(95%CI 0.67-1.04),respectively].For regular p

The effect of phosphorus on the oxidation resistance of low thermal expansion alloy In909 was studied. The composition and structure of the oxidation layer were analyzed. It is found that the oxidation initiates at the grain boundaries. During the oxidation, Fe atoms diffuse toward the surface and form the outside oxidation layer as the oxide of iron. The transition oxidation layer lies between the oxidation layer and the matrix which is enriched with nb, Ti and si, forming FeTiO5, nb2O5,Fe2siO4 and TiO2. Phosphorus hardly influences the thermal expansion coefficient of In909 alloy. However, it increases the formation ofεphase at the boundary of the transition oxidation layer and matrix. As a result, the oxidation rate is decreased efficiently because theεphase inhibits the diffusion of the element such as iron from the matrix to the oxidation layer.

Facile dry decoration of graphene oxide sheets with aerosol Ag nanocrystals s.nthesized from an arc plasma source has been demonstrated us.ng an electrostatic force directed assembly technique at room *** Ag nanocrystal-graphene oxide hybrid structure was characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and selected area *** ripening of Ag nanocrystals on a graphene oxide sheet was studied by consecutive TEM imaging of the same region on a sample after heating in Ar at elevated temperatures of 100°C,200°C,and 300°*** average size of Ag nanocrystals increased and the number density decreased after the annealing *** particular,migration and coalescence of Ag nanocrystals were observed at a temperature as low as 100°C,suggesting a van der Waals interaction between the Ag nanocrystal and the graphene oxide *** availability of affordable graphene-nanocrystal structures and their fundamental properties will open up new opportunities for nanoscience and nanotechnology and accelerate their applications.

Dear Editor,Plant tissue culture involves callus formation and de novo shoot ***,explants from differentiated tissues are used to generate a pluripotent cell mass,called callus,on auxin-rich callus-inducing medium(CIM),followed by shoot regeneration on cytokinin-rich shoot-inducing medium(siM).Callus results from division of pericycle-like cells(Atta et al.,2009;sugimoto et al.,2010);its cellular identity resembles that of lateral root primordia(Atta et al.,2009;sugimoto et al.,2010).Callus acquires cellular pluripotency by forming root stem cell niches on CIM(sugimoto et al.,2010)。

In this paper a von Karman equation with memory,utt + α?2u- γ?utt- integral from n=-∞ to t μ(t- s)?2u(s)ds = [u, F(u)] + h is considered. This equation was considered by several authors. Existing results are mainly devoted to global existence and energy decay. However, the existence of attractors has.not yet been considered. Thus, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions by us.ng Galerkin method, and then show the existence of a finitedimensional global attractor.
