As one of conducting polymers,PEDOT:PSS,is commonly used in organic electronics,especially for bioelectronics due to its advantages such as high electrical and ionic conductivity,solution-processability and *** bioelectronics with the PEDOT:PSS requires advanced techniques to obtain physical/chemical modification of the PEDOT:PSS for improved performance and various *** satisfy these demands,fibrillary gelation of PEDOT:PSS by injection to choline acetate,an ionic liquid,with a constant flow rate was used in this study to make a conductive fiber and improve characteristics of PEDOT:*** fibers by fibrillary gelation showed enhanced electrical conductivity of about 400 S cm^(-1) and volumetric capacitance of about 154 F cm^(−3) which would be strongly beneficial to be utilized for organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs),resulting in a high transconductance of 19 mS in a ***,dedoping of the conductive fibers by PEI(polyethyleneimine)enabled the creation of enhancement-mode *** inverters were then fabricated by connecting depletion and enhancement-mode *** results demonstrate that these conductive fibers and electronic-textiles are suitable candidates for applications in bio-integrated electronics.

AIM:The generation of oxygen free radicals has been implicated in the pathogenesis of experimental pancreatitis. The aim of this study was to determine the role of oxygen free radicals in patients with acute pancreatitis. METHODS:The plasma levels of C-reactive protein(CRP), lipid peroxide(LPO),myeloperoxidase(MPO)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)were measured in 13 patients with acute pancreatitis and 14 healthy volunteers. RESULTS:Among the patients with acute pancreatitis,there were higher plasma levels of LPO and MPO and lower SOD activity in patients with severe pancreatitis than in those with mild ***,there was no significant difference in the serum marker of oxidative stress no matter what the etiology *** LPO level was especially correlated with the concentration of serum CRP and CT severity index. CONCLUSION:The oxygen free radicals may be closely associated with inflammatory process and the severity of acute ***,the concentration of plasma LPO is a meaningful index for determining the severity of the disease.

The purpose of this study was to compare pharmacokinetic(PK)parameters obtained using two newly developed assays,HPLC-UV and UPLC-ESI-MS/*** of assay and results obtained therefrom are very important in PK studies and can have a major impact on the PK-based clinical dose and usage *** this study,we developed two new methods that are most commonly used in biosample analysis and focused on PK parameters obtained from *** HPLC-UV equipped with a Luna-C8 column using UV detector,cefprozil diastereomers were separated using water containing 2%(V/V)acetic acid and acetonitrile as a mobile *** UPLC-ESI-MS/MS equipped with a HALO-C18 column,cefprozil diastereomers were separated using 0.5%(V/V)aqueous formic acid containing 5 mM ammoniumformate buffer and methanol as a mobile *** showed high resolution,sensitivity,and selectivity without interference by plasma *** intra-and inter-day precisions(CV,%)were within 8.88%for HPLC-UV and UPLC-ESI-MS/*** of both methods was 95.67%-107.50%.These two analytical methods satisfied the criteria of international guidance and could be successfully applied to PK *** of PK parameters between two assays confirmed that there is a difference in the predicted minimum plasma concentrations at steady state,which may affect clinical dose and usage ***,we confirmed possible correlation between PK parameters and various biochemical parameters after oral administration of 1000 mg cefprozil to humans.

Alkaline hydrazine liquid fuel cells(AHFC) have been highlighted in terms of high power performance with non-precious metal *** Fe-N-C is a promising non-Pt electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),the surface density of the active site is very low and the catalyst layer should be thick to acquire the necessary number of catalytic active *** this thick catalyst layer,it is important to have an optimum pore structure for effective reactant conveyance to active sites and an interface structure for faster charge ***,we prepare a Fe-N-C catalyst with magnetite particles and hierarchical pore structure by steam *** steam activation process significantly improves the power performance of the AHFC as indicated by the lower IR and activation voltage *** on a systematic characterization,we found that hierarchical pore structures improve the catalyst utilization efficiency of the AHFCs,and magnetite nanoparticles act as surface modifiers to reduce the interracial resistance between the electrode and the ion-exchange membrane.

Pre-procedural cleansing of the bowel can maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of ***,efficacy of the current gold standard colonic preparation method-high-volume oral administration of purgative agents 12-24 h prior to the procedure-is limited by several factors,such as patient compliance(due to poor palatability and inconvenience of the dosing regimen)and risks of complications(due to drug interactions or intolerance).Attempts to resolve these limitations have included providing adjunctive agents and methods to promote the colonic cleansing ability of the principal purgative agent,with the aim of lessening unpleasant side effects(such as bloating)and reducing the large ingested volume *** promising adjunctive agents are bisacodyl,magnesium citrate,senna,simethicone,metoclopramide,and prokinetics,and each are being investigated for their *** review provides an up to date summary of the reported investigations into the potencies and weaknesses of the key adjuncts currently being applied in clinic as supplements to the traditional bowel preparation *** the comparative analysis ofthese adjuncts showed that no single agent or method has yet achieved the goal of completely overcoming the limitations of the current gold standard preparation method,they at least provide endoscopists with an array of alternatives to help improve the suboptimal efficacy of the main cleansing solutions when used *** aid in this clinical endeavor,a subjective grade was assigned to each adjunct to indicate its practical *** addition,the systematic review of the currently available agents and methods provides insight into the features of each that may be overcome or exploited to create novel drugs and strategies that may become adopted as effective bowel cleansing adjuncts or alternatives.

AIM:To investigate the efficacy of cap-fitted colonoscopy(CFC) with regard to cecal intubation ***:Two hundred and ninety-five patients undergoing screening colonoscopy at Gospel Hospital,Kosin University College of Medicine were enrolled in this randomized controlled trial between January and December *** were conducted by a single *** characteristics including age,sex,body mass index,history of abdominal surgery,quality of preparation,and the presence of diverticulosis were ***:One hundred and fifty patients were allocated into a CFC group and 145 into a non-CFC(NCF) *** intubations were achieved in all *** intubation time in the CFC group was significantly shorter than in the NCF group for specific conditions:age ≥ 60 years,prior abdominal surgery,and poor bowel *** number of detected adenomas was higher in the CFC group than in the NCF group(P = 0.040).CONCLUSION:CFC facilitated shortening of the cecal intubation time in difficult cases,and was more sensitive for detecting adenomas than was NCF.

The development of colorectal cancer(CRC)can result from changes in a variety of cellular systems within the tumor ***,it is primarily associated with genomic instability that is the gradual accumulation of genetic and epigenetic changes consisting of a characteristic set of mutations crucial for pathways in CRC *** on this background,the potential to focus on poly[adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-ribose]polymerase(PARP)-1 and poly-ADP ribosylation(PARylation)as the main causes of malignant formation of CRC may be *** of the important functions of PARP-1 and PARylation is its deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)repair function,which plays a pivotal role in the DNA damage response and prevention of DNA damage maintaining the redox homeostasis involved in the regulation of oxidation and ***-1 and PARylation can also alter epigenetic markers and chromatin structure involved in transcriptional regulation for the oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes by remodeling histone and chromatin *** the high importance of these processes in CRC,it can be considered that PARP-1 and PARylation are at the forefront of the pathological changes required for CRC ***,this review addresses the current molecular biological features for understanding the multifactorial function of PARP-1 and PARylation in CRC related to the aforementioned roles;furthermore,it presents a summary of recent approaches with PARP-1 inhibition in non-clinical and clinical studies targeting *** understanding could help embrace the importance of targeting PARP-1 and PARylation in the treatment of CRC,which may present the potential to identify various research topics that can be challenged both nonclinically and clinically.

We report the first recorded capture of a blue-banded sea snake（Laticauda laticaudata Linnaeus, 1758, Jobeuntti Kun Badabam in Korean） in South Korea based on one male specimen collected from Marado-ri, Seogwiposi, Jeju-do on 20 October 2016. The morphological features of the lateral nostrils, the much wider ventrals than adjacent dorsals, the horizontally undivided rostral, the two prefrontals, and the uniform black bands on the body indicate that the specimen is L. laticaudata. An analysis of the partial mitochondrial cytochrome b gene sequence indicated that the specimen fits well into the known L. laticaudata phylogenetic group, which confirms that the sea krait is L. laticaudata. Including this report, five species of sea snakes（L. laticaudata, L. semifasciata, Hydrophis platurus, H. cyanocinctus, and H. melanocephalus） have now been reported in Korean waters.

Introduction of an invasive prey species into an ecosystem may affect an endemic predator＇s fitness by altering the prey-predator system. Successful adaptation may allow the endemic predator to eat and control the invasive species, while unsuccessful adaptation may result in extinction of the predator. We examine the possible effects of the invasive North American bullfrog （Rana [Lithobates] catesbeiana） on the endemic Red-backed rat snake （Oocatochus rufodorsatus） in South Korea. We do so by comparing the morphology and behavior of adult and hatchling snakes from bullfrog-exposed （Taean） and bullfrog-unexposed （Hongcheon） populations. Among the seven morphological characteristics investigated, relative tail length （tail length/snout-vent length） of both adults and hatchlings from Taean was significantly greater than that of adults and hatchlings from Hongcheon. Also, adult snakes from Taean had a signiifcantly shorter latency of ifrst tongue lfick in response to prey compared to adults from Hongcheon. This difference was not observed in hatchlings. In other snake species, a longer relative tail length and shorter latency of ifrst tongue lfick are known to improve foraging efifciency, and these characters may be adaptations ofO. rufodorsatus to prey on bullfrogs. This study provides preliminary evidence that the presence of an invasive prey species may cause morphological and behavioral changes in an endemic predator.

Nitric oxide(NO)has been shown to promote revascularization and nerve regeneration after peripheral nerve ***,in vivo application of NO remains challenging due to the lack of stable carrier materials capable of storing large amounts of NO molecules and releasing them on a clinically meaningful time ***,a silica nanoparticle system capable of reversible NO storage and release at a controlled and sustained rate was *** this study,NO-releasing silica nanoparticles(NO-SNs)were delivered to the peripheral nerves in rats after acute crush injury,mixed with natural hydrogel,to ensure the effective application of NO to the *** using a polymer dye and immunohistochemical staining for the detection of CD34(a marker for revascularization)results showed that NO-releasing silica nanoparticles increased revascularization at the crush site of the sciatic *** sciatic functional index revealed that there was a significant improvement in sciatic nerve function in NO-treated *** and anatomical analyses showed that the number of myelinated axons in the crushed sciatic nerve and wet muscle weight excised from NO-treated rats were ***,muscle function recovery was improved in rats treated with *** together,our results suggest that NO delivered to the injured sciatic nerve triggers enhanced revascularization at the lesion in the early phase after crushing injury,thereby promoting axonal regeneration and improving functional recovery.
