This paper summarizes recent data about magnesite and talc genesis in Carboniferous host rocks of Western Carpathians (Slovakia) , which occur in two distinct belts in tectonic superunit Veporicum and its contact zone with Gemericum. The northern Sinec magnesite and talc belt (with main deposits Kokava, Sinec, Samo, Hnust'a-Mutnik) contains economic accummulation of magnesite and talc, while in the southern Ochtina belt ( main deposits in Dubrava massif-Dubrava, Mikova, Jedl'ovec; Lubenik, Ochtina, Kosice-Bankov, Banisko, Medvedia) the magnesite is *** magnesite genesis by successive replacement of Carboniferous calcite to dolomite and magnesite during metamorphic process Ml (northern belt 280-400℃; , southern belt 370-420℃: ; Radvanec & prochaska, 2001; Kodera & Radvanec, 2002) , being supplied by Mg from permoscythian evaporitic bittern brines, relates to Variscan post-collisional (post-VD) evolution. The extensional tectonics and the high heat flow facilitated the generation of a hydrothermal *** time-separated later metamorphic and sourcely different fluid flow event (M2; 1. c. ) produced talc. Tectonic, microtectonic, metamorphic and geochronological data relate the talc origin with the Alpine Upper Cretaceous (88-84 Ma; Maluski in Kovacik et al. , 1996) tectonothermal event AD2. This event, being the consequence of Alpine collisional ( AD1 ) crustal thickening and metamorphic core complex origin, meant regional extension and pervasive fluid flow of open system in crustal discontinuities. This process was prominent in the northern belt ( Sinec shear zone) located more closely to Veporic thermal dome, while towards its peripheral parts (southern Ochtina belt) the M2 metamorphic process and steatitization gradually *** from Sinec shear zone (being the prominent AD2 -AD3 structure of northern Sinec belt) , where the dolomite/magnesite lenses (replacement in M1) and their accompanying lithology were in AD1 sandwitched between more com

We aimed to analyze the value of each criterion for clinically insignificant prostate cancer （pCa） in the selection of men for active surveillance （AS） of low-risk pCa. We identified 532 men who were treated with radical prostatectomy from 2006 to 2013 who met 4 or all 5 of the criteria for clinically insignificant pCa （clinical stage 〈 T1, prostate specific antigen [pSA] density 0.15, biopsy Gleason score 〈 6, number of positive biopsy cores 〈 2, and no core with 〉 50% involvement） and analyzed their pathologic and biochemical outcomes. patients who met all 5 criteria for clinically insignificant pCa were designated as group A （n -- 172）, and those who met 4 of 5 criteria were designated as group B （n = 360）. The association of each criterion with adverse pathologic features was assessed via logistic regression analyses. Comparison of group A and B and also logistic regression analyses showed that pSA density 0.15 ng ml-1 and high （〉7） biopsy Gleason score were associated with adverse pathologic features. Higher （〉 Tlc） clinical stage was not associated with any adverse pathologic features. Although 〈 3 positive cores were not associated with any adverse pathology, 〉4 positive cores were associated with higher risk of extracapsular extension. Among potential candidates for AS, pSA density ~ 0.15 ng ml-~ and biopsy Gleason score ~ 6 pose significantly higher risks of harboring more aggressive disease. The eligibility criteria for AS may be expanded to include men with clinical stage T2 tumor and 3 positive cores.

Cardiac metastasis from colorectal cancer:A case report

The heart is an unusual site of metastasis from any malignancy. We report a case of cardiac metastasis from colorectal cancer. A 70-year-old woman was referred with a presumptive diagnosis of sigmoid colon cancer with cardiac myxoma. Two-dimensional echocardiography showed a 4 cm x 4.5 cm mobile mass on the lateral right atrial wall, and computed tomography revealed a low attenuated Iobulating mass in the right atrium. The patient underwent anterior resection for sigmoid colon cancer （T4n2）. Thereafter, she experienced progressive shortness of breath. Therefore, a cardiac operation was performed 2 wk after the colorectal operation. Histological examination revealed adenocarcinoma, which was identical to the primary lesion. Although two- dimensional echocardiography has become the diagnostic test of choice for detecting cardiac tumors, in patients with colorectal cancer showing a cardiac mass, further diagnostic evaluation such as a magnetic resonance imaging might be necessary.

AIM： To investigate the effect of angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker （ARB） and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor （ACEI） on intraocular growth factors and their receptors in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. METHODS： Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups： control, diabetes mellitus （DM）, candesartan- treated DM, and enalapril-treated DM （each group, n---10）. After the induction of DM by streptozotocin, candesartan [ARB, 5 mg/（kg · d）] and enalapril [ACEI, 10 mg/（kg · d）] were administered to rats orally for 4Wko Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and angiotensin II （Ang II） concentrations in the vitreous were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and VEGF receptor 2 and angiotensin II type 1 receptor （ATIR） levels were assessed at week 4 by Western blotting. RESULTS： Vitreous Ang II levels were significantly higher in the DM group and candesartan-treated DM group than in the control （p=0.04 and 0.005, respectively）. Vitreous ATIR increased significantly in DM compared to the other three groups （p〈0.007）. Candesartan-treated DM rats showed higher vitreal ATIR concentration than the enalapril-treated DM group and control （p〈0.001 and p=0.005, respectively）. no difference in vitreous Ang II and ATIR concentration was found between the enalapril- treated DM group and control. VEGF and its receptor were below the minimum detection limit in all 4 groups. COnCLUSIOn： Increased Ang II and ATIR in the hyperglycemic state indicate activated the intraocular renin-angiotensin system, which is inhibited more effectively by systemic ACEI than systemic ARB.

Measurements of the keV-neutron capture cross sections and radiative γ-ray spectrum of 56Fe and 57Fe are performed based on a 7 Li（p,n）7 Be reaction neutron source. The incident neutron spectrum on a capture sample is measured by means of a time-of-flight （TOF） method with a 6Li-glass detector. The radiative capture 7-rays emitted from an iron CS Fe or 57 Fe） or standard gold （197Au） sample are detected by a large anti-Compton naI（TI） spectrometer covered with a heavy shield. The capture yields of samples are obtained by applying a pulse-height weighting technique to the corresponding capture γ-ray pulse-height spectrum. The Maxwellian averaged neutron capture cross sections of 56Fe and 5T Fe are derived according to the present capture cross section results.

BACKGROUnD:Melatonin (n-acetyl-5-methoxytripta-mine) is a free radical scavenger and a strong antioxidant,secreted by the pineal *** this study,we evaluated the effects of decreasing and increasing serum melatonin levels on malonyldialdehyde (MDA),superoxide dismutase (SOD),and reduced glutathione (GSH) levels in pancreatic tissue from rats with experimental acute ***:Experimental acute pancreatitis was induced in three groups of Wistar albino rats (10 animals per group) by pancreatic ductal *** first group had only acute pancreatitis and served as the *** pinealectomy was added to acute pancreatitis in the second group,removing the source of endogenous melatonin (low melatonin levels group).The third group was given 0.1 ml daily intraperitoneal injections of 20 mg/ml melatonin solution for one week (high melatonin levels group).The effects of melatonin levels were evaluated by comparison of the levels of MDA,SOD,and GS in pancreatic ***:We found that intraperitoneal melatonin injections decreased the levels of MDA and increased the levels of SOD and GSH in pancreatic ***:Exogenous melatonin has a preventive effect on lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage in acute pancreatitis.

AIM: To evaluate the safety of using 0.03% trypan blue under air for anterior capsule staining in cataract ***: The current study involved a retrospective analysis of the medical records of 86 patients with vitreous hemorrhage, who underwent pars plana vitrectomy and cataract *** patients were classified into two *** trypan blue group(n=45) comprised patients who underwent anterior capsule staining with 0.03% trypan blue under an air *** control group(n=41) comprised of patients who underwent intracameral illuminator-assisted *** status of endothelial cell density(ECD) in both the groups was ***: The trypan blue group displayed significant decline in ECD at 1 mo(7.91% loss, pnd 3 mo(9.65% loss, pno significant changes were observed in the control ***, the number of patients who did not display a postoperative decline in ECD was significantly higher in the control group(43.9%;18 patients) than in the trypan blue group(17.1%;7 patients, p=0.004).COnCLUSIOn: Anterior capsule staining with trypan blue under the air bubble would not be as safe as the intracameral *** ECD loss might be attributed to the air bubble rather than to the deleterious effects of 0.03% trypan *** studies are required to clarify this.

Association between Helicobacter pylori status and metachronous gastric cancer after endoscopic resection

AIM To investigate the effect of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) status test and H. pylori eradication on the occurrence of metachronous gastric cancer(MGC) after endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) of early gastric cancer(EGC) and risk factors of MGC. METHODS The authors retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 433 patients(441 lesions) who underwent ESD for EGC from January 2005 to January 2015 in Yeungnam University Hospital. patients were categorized into two groups; the H. pylori tested group(n = 257) and the H. pylori non-tested group(n = 176) based on performance of H. pylori status test after ESD of EGC. The H. pylori tested group was further categorized into three subgroups based on H. pylori status; the H. pylori-eradicated subgroup(n = 120), the H. pylori-persistent subgroup(n = 42), and the H. pylori-negative subgroup(n = 95). Incidences of MGC and risk factors of MGC were *** Median follow-up duration after ESD was 30.00 mo(range, 6-107 mo). Total 15 patients developed MGC during follow-up. MGC developed in 11 patients of the H. pylori tested group(7 in the H. pylori-negative subgroup, 3 in the H. pylori-eradicated subgroup, and 1 in the H. pylori-persistent subgroup) and 4 patients of the H. pylori non-tested group(p > 0.05). The risk factors of MGC were endoscopic mucosal atrophy in the H. pylori tested group and intestinal metaplasia in all patients. COnCLUSIOn H. pylori eradication and H. pylori status test seems to have no preventive effect on the development of MGC after ESD for EGC. The risk factors of MGC development were endoscopic mucosal atrophy in the H. pylori tested group alone and intestinal metaplasia in all patients.
