Genetic and morphological variation in natural teak(Tectona grandis) populations of the Western Ghats in Southern India

Teak （Tectona grandis L.f.） is a popular hardwood species native to South and South-East Asia. The possible association of ampli- fied fragment length polymorphism （AFLp） marker with morphological variables of eleven important characters viz. girth at breast height （GBH）, height of tree, bole height, branch knots, presence of fluting, spiral stem, leaf hair, leaf length/breadth ratio, branching pattern, bark colour and petiole shape for nine natural populations comprising 180 genotypes of teak （9 populations x 20 trees）. The phenogram constructed using Euclidean distances for the eleven morphological characters showed that the populations were not grouped according to their geographical origin. The mantel＇s test for pairwise correlation between Euclidean distances of different morphological variables and genetic distances from AFLp data revealed that only petiole character （r =0.269; p =0.046） and height of tree （r =0,200; p =0.001） were significantly correlated with that of AFLp data matrix. The nine populations in this study covered a geographic area of about 1000 km stretch along the Western Ghat of South India. A test of correlation between genetic and geographic distance matrices revealed a significant positive correlation （r =0.475; p =0.009）. The lack of perfect congruence between morphological and molecular data except for geo-graphic distance, tree height and petiole character suggested that the morphological system might be useful for the morphotypes management but not appropriate to study the genetic structure of the teak populations.

The rapid growth of machine learning(mL)across fields has intensified the challenge of selecting the right algorithm for specific tasks,known as the Algorithm Selection problem(ASp).Traditional trial-and-error methods have become impractical due to their resource *** machine Learning(AutomL)systems automate this process,but often neglect the group structures and sparsity in meta-features,leading to inefficiencies in algorithm recommendations for classification *** paper proposes a meta-learning approach using multivariate Sparse Group Lasso(mSGL)to address these *** method models both within-group and across-group sparsity among meta-features to manage high-dimensional data and reduce multicollinearity across eight meta-feature *** Fast Iterative Shrinkage-Thresholding Algorithm(FISTA)with adaptive restart efficiently solves the non-smooth optimization *** validation on 145 classification datasets with 17 classification algorithms shows that our meta-learning method outperforms four state-of-the-art approaches,achieving 77.18%classification accuracy,86.07%recommendation accuracy and 88.83%normalized discounted cumulative gain.

BACKGROUND L-arginine(L-Arg)is one of the most widely used amino acids in dietary and pharmacological ***,the evidence on its usefulness and dose limitations,especially in diabetics is still *** To investigate the effects of chronic administration of different doses of L-Arg on the cardiac muscle of type 2 diabetic *** Of 96 male rats were divided into 8 groups as follows(n=12):Control,0.5 g/kg L-Arg,1 g/kg L-Arg,1.5 g/kg L-Arg,diabetic,diabetic+0.5 g/kg L-Arg,diabetic+1 g/kg L-Arg,and diabetic+1.5 g/kg L-Arg;whereas L-Arg was orally administered for 3 months to all treated *** L-Arg produced a moderate upregulation of blood glucose levels to normal rats,but when given to diabetics a significant upregulation was observed,associated with increased nitric oxide,inflammatory cytokines,and malonaldehyde levels in diabetic rats treated with 1 g/kg L-Arg and 1.5 g/kg L-Arg.A substantial decrease in the antioxidant capacity,superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione peroxidase,reduced glutathione concentrations,and Nrf-2 tissue depletion were observed at 1 g/kg and 1.5 g/kg L-Arg diabetic treated groups,associated with myocardial injury,fibrosis,α-smooth muscle actin upregulation,and disruption of desmin cardiac myofilaments,and these effects were not noticeable at normal treated *** the other hand,L-Arg could significantly improve the lipid profile of diabetic rats and decrease their body *** L-Arg dose of 1 g/kg or more can exacerbates the diabetes injurious effects on the myocardium,while 0.5 g/kg dose can improve the lipid profile and decrease the body weight.

Carbon capture for decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries:a comparative review of techno-economic feasibility of solid looping cycles

Unraveling the link between lipid oxidation and off-flavor development in grass carp fillets(Ctenopharyngodon idellus) during cold storage: A non-targeted lipidomics approach

Grass carp fillets were susceptible to unpleasant fishiness during cold storage. To clarify the mechanism of fishy odor formation and achieve targeted regulation， volatile compounds， and lipid oxidation were investigated in grass carp fillets during cold storage （0-7d）. The lipid oxidation degree increased continually during cold storage， as evidenced by the change of AV， pOV， TBARS， and Hp. The activities of related enzymes (LOX， LpS， pLA[2]， and HpL) maintained a high level， reaching their maximums after 3-5 days. Free fatty acids exhibited a great downtrend， especially linoleic acid （18:2） and arachidonic acid （20:4）. Forty-five volatile compounds were identified by solvent-assisted flavor evaporation-gas chromatography-mass spectrometer， and the total contents of volatile compounds increased from 706.55 μg/kg （0d） to 1370.65 μg/kg （7d）. （Z）-4-heptenal，（E，E）-2，4-hexadienal， 1-penten-3-ol， nonanal， and （E）-2-heptenal were the key volatile compounds. The pearson correlation showed a strong correlation between 47 differentially abundant lipids （variables important in projection > 1， p value 2） and volatile compounds. During cold storage， lyso-phosphatidylcholine （20:4） and lyso-phosphatidylcholine （18:2） were selected as the main precursors of volatile compounds’ formation in grass carp fillets.

Wire breakages and spark absence are two typical machining failures that occur during wire electric discharge machining(wire-EDm),if appropriate parameter settings are not *** after several attempts to optimize the process,machining failures cannot be eliminated completely.A n offline classification model is presented herein to predict machining *** aim of the current study is to develop a multiclass classification model using an artificial neural network(ANN).The training dataset comprises 81 full factorial experiments with three levels of pulse-on time,pulse-off time,servo voltage,and wire feed rate as input *** classes are labeled as normal machining,spark absence,and wire *** model accuracy is tested by conducting 20 confirmation experiments,and the model is discovered to be 95%accurate in classifying the machining *** effects of process parameters on the process failures are discussed and analyzed.A microstructural analysis of the machined surface and worn wire surface is *** developed model proved to be an easy and fast solution for verifying and eliminating process failures.

Development of gas tungsten arc welding using current pulsing technique to preclude chromium carbide precipitation in aerospace-grade alloy 80A

Weldments were produced using gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) and pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding(pCGTAW) techniques with ERNiCr-3 filler wire. macro examination revealed that the resultant weldments were free from defects. A refined microstructure was observed in the weldment fabricated through pCGTAW. Scanning electron microscopy(SEm) analysis revealed secondary phases in the grain boundaries. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS) analysis revealed that microsegregation of Cr carbide precipitates was completely eradicated through pCGTAW. The microsegregation of Nb precipitates was observed in the GTA and pCGTA weldments. X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis revealed the existence of m_(23)C?_6 Cr-rich carbide and Ni_8Nb phases in the GTA weldments. By contrast, in the pCGTA weldments, the Ni_8Nb phase was observed. The Cr_2Ti phase was observed in both the GTA and the pCGTA weldments. Tensile tests showed that the strength and ductility of the pCGTA weldments were slightly higher than those of the GTA weldments.

Stochastic asymptotical synchronization of chaotic markovian jumping fuzzy cellular neural networks with mixed delays and the Wiener process based on sampled-data control

We investigate the stochastic asymptotical synchronization of chaotic markovian jumping fuzzy cellular neural networks （mJFCNNs） with discrete, unbounded distributed delays, and the Wiener process based on sampled-data control using the linear matrix inequality （LmI） approach. The Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional combined with the input delay approach as well as the free-weighting matrix approach is employed to derive several sufficient criteria in terms of LmIs to ensure that the delayed mJFCNNs with the Wiener process is stochastic asymptotical synchronous. Restrictions （e.g., time derivative is smaller than one） are removed to obtain a proposed sampled-data controller. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the reliability of the derived results.

mechanical characterization of the role of defects in sintered FeCrAIY foams

Open celled metal foams fabricated through metal sintering are a new class of material that offers novel mechanical and acoustic properties. previously, polymer foams have been widely used as a means of absorbing acoustic energy. However, the structural applications of these foams are limited. The metal sintering approach offers a costeffective means for the mass-production of open-cell foams from a range of materials, including high-temperature steel alloys. In this first part of two-paper series, the mechanical properties of open-celled steel alloy （FeCrA1Y） foams were characterized under uniaxial compression and shear loading. Compared to predictions from established models, a significant knockdown in material properties was observed. This knockdown was attributed to the presence of defects throu- ghout the microstructure that result from the unique fabrication process. Further in situ tests were carried out in a SEm （scanning electronic microscope） in order to investigate the effects of defects on the properties of the foams. Typically, the onset of plastic yielding was observed to occur at defect locations within the microstructure. At lower relative densities, ligament bending dominates, with the deformation initializing at defects. At higher relative densities, an additional deformation mechanism associated with membrane elements was observed. In the follow-up of this paper, a finite element model will be constructed to quantify the effects of defects on the mechanical performance of the opencell foam.
