This work was carried out to evaluate the insecticidal effect of mono,bi and trimetallic nanoparticles(Nps)from leaf extract of habanero pepper(Capsicum chinense Jacq.)on the red flour beetle(Tribolium castaneum herbst.)and cotton mealybug(phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley).The results showed that Cu Nps,Cu/Mn Nps and Zn/Cu Nps had high insecticidal effect against ***(63%-80% mortality after 96 h).The Cu Nps and Zn/Cu Nps showed also insecticidal effect against ***,but to a lesser extent(20%–28% after 96 h).With regards to the physicochemical characterization,Cu Nps had a zeta potential of 21.1 mV,whereas Cu/Mn Nps and Zn/Cu Nps exhibited zeta potentials of 200 *** polydispersity index(pDI)values for Cu Nps,Cu/Mn Nps,and Zn/Cu Nps were 10.1,29.16,and 14.34,*** TF-IR spectra of the Nps varied from 600 to 4000 cm−*** EDX weight percentages showed the presence of Cu(0.29%–2.4%),Mn(1.4%),and Zn(2.6%)in Cu/Mn Nps and Zn/Cu Nps,respectively.

The phenotypic variation and its distribution among species,morphotypes,and among and within populations was estimated in 71 populations pertaining to 15 morphotypes of three domesticated species of Capsicum from *** were made in the states of Sinaloa,Nayarit,Oaxaca,Tabasco,and Yucatán in two agroecosystems:Backyard-garden and *** phenotypic characteristics were analyzed through one-way variance analysis and multivariate analyses of principal components analysis(pCA)and hierarchical clustering using Ward’s *** study was performed in a uniform greenhouse experiment.A high variation was found among and within populations in all the measured *** the total variation,13.0%was distributed among species,27.9%among morphotypes,8.1%among populations,and 51.0%within *** plants grew in a uniform environment,these results indicate that the differences observed among and within species,morphotypes,and populations have a genetic *** and multivariate analyses clearly differentiated morphotypes,suggesting that the category of morphotypes must be used to nominate the infraspecific variation in the domesticated *** principal components analysis identified a total of 15 principal components that contributed to explain the total *** first two components explained 59.64%of the total variation and seven components explained more than 90%of the total *** the measured characteristics,number of seed per fruit,weight of the fruit,width of the fruit,length of the fruit,stem diameter,days to flowering,and height of the plant contributed to component 1 variation,whereas width of the leaf,length of the leaf,and number of locules,number of fruits and number of seeds per plant contributed to component *** hierarchical clustering separated the populations and the morphotypes in two large different *** group consisted of populations collected in monoculture conditions and the oth

The extraction of bioactive compounds has become one of the most interesting areas of modern *** therapeutic reasons,it´s important to obtain antimicrobial agents from natural *** objective of the present study was to determine the inhibitory effect of ethanolic extract of basil(Ocimum basilicum *** Rubin)subjected to different concentrations of potassium(K^(+))on the activity of three bacterial strains that are pathogens in *** was evaluated by inhibition surface and these results were compared to two antibiotics:Gentamicin(GE)and Ciprofloxacin(CpF)for their efficacy against each bacterial *** variables presented significant difference(p≤0.05).According to the results,basil extract evaluated showed positive antibacterial activity against the three strains of pseudomonas aeruginosa,Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus on Mueller Hinton *** was observed highest inhibition areas of different diameters(15.3 mm,21.3 mm and 21.6 mm respectively)when the extract used was obtained from the plants with the highest concentration of potassium(13 mmol L-1).These values were even superior to the highest values showed on the treatments with the antibiotic gentamicin.

The present study was conducted in order to establish factors that can potentially facilitate crime, as well as the status of the emotional wellbeing presented in the prison population. The sample was composed of 358 inmates of the Federal Center for Social Rehabilitation number 7 in Mexico. A questionnaire was specifically developed;it evaluated sociodemographic factors and Likert scales of substance intake, domestic violence, and depressive symptoms. Validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.703) of the instrument showed appropriate relations between the reagents of the scales;results showed—through Chi-Square analysis—statistically significant differences in the correlations between sociodemographic factors, domestic violence, addictions, and depressive symptoms. Although results showed a connection between domestic violence and substance abuse with criminal behavior, low socioeconomic conditions exhibited a higher degree of correlation with criminal activity. On the other hand, high depression symptoms are present in one out of every five inmates.

Common bean (phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an economic important crop and one of the major grain legumes for human consumption in Latin America, Africa and Asia. A morphological study of shoot induced from embryonic axes development in four Costa Rican bean varieties (Brunca, Huetar, Guaymi and Bribri) cultivated on MS media with or without 5 mg·L–1 de N6-benzylaminopurine (BAp) by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was developed in the present work. Micrographs showed similarities and differences in the ultrastructure of the apical dome, epidermal surface, stomata and different types of trichomes in the varieties cultivated on organogenesis media. Genotypes with advantageous morphological characteristics for genetic transformation, in particular an exposed apical dome, were identified. This work will contribute to the optimization of the in vitro regeneration of four common bean varieties.

In this work the structural changes induced by aged treatment have shown a connection with differences of hardness and electrochemical performance. Al-base alloys have been investigated by means of Vickers hardness, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron and short-term electrochemical test. X-ray diffraction result reveals the formation of (MgZn)49Al32 phase for two conditions, the first one is when the magnesium content is upper to 5.49% in as-cast condition and the second one after the thermal treatment carried out at 450?C for 5 h. In addition, the hardness and electrochemical performance has been influenced by the presence and quantity of the (MgZn)49Al32 phase. The addition of magnesium alloying modifies the microstructure, increases the content of (MgZn)49Al32 phase and provides a localized corrosion which conduced to the breakdown of the oxide film (?-Al2O3) formed on the Al alloy surface.

Are Lipid panels Altered by a Large Lunch Meal in Type 2 Diabetes?

Introduction: Recently, analyses of large heterogeneous databases have suggested that there are no differences whether “lipid panels” are drawn in the fed or fasted state, even in diabetic individuals. Whether this is true for individual diabetic patients is unknown. Methods: We studied eight type 2 diabetic individuals and measured serial lipid panels to determine the effect of a large lunch meal. A “Big Mac” equivalent meal was fed to each volunteer and blood for lipid assays was obtained at baseline and hourly for five hours following the meal. Results: The meal induced a significant elevation of glucose, insulin, and c-peptide in each volunteer. In addition, the following lipid parameters significantly changed from baseline concentration during the meal: total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides. Furthermore, the timing of the blood draw post meal also was a determinant of the lipid concentration. No significant concentration change occurred in HDL-cholesterol. Conclusions: In type 2 diabetic patients, lipid panels should be drawn in the fasting state unless the only lipid parameter of interest is HDL-cholesterol.

The effect of IB element additions [Ag] on the corrosion behavior of AlZn alloy has been investigated. The potentiodynamic polarization curves revealed that the corrosion behavior of SSAl, SSZn and AgZn3 phases was significantly influenced by IB element content. The electrochemical investigations showed that the corrosion rate increased with the IB-element additions. Furthermore, it was also evidenced the formation of a passive layer for the highest Ag content alloys;the passivity of this layer could be broken due to the presence of the intermetallic compound (IMCs) AgZn3.
