We report the radio observations of the eclipsing black widow pulsar J1720-0534, a 3.26 ms pulsar in orbit with a low mass companion of mass 0.029 to 0.034 M⊙. We obtain the phase-connected timing ephemeris and polarization profile of this millisecond pulsar(MSp) using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST), the Green Bank Telescope(GBT), and the parkes Telescope. For the first time from such a system, an oscillatory polarization angle change was observed from a particular eclipse egress with partial depolarization, indicating 10-milliGauss-level reciprocating magnetic fields oscillating in a length scale of 5 ×10^(3)km(assuming an orbital inclination angle of 90°) outside the companion's magnetosphere. The dispersion measure variation observed during the ingresses and egresses shows the rapid raising of the electron density in the shock boundary between the companion's magnetosphere and the surrounding pulsar wind. We suggest that the observed oscillatory magnetic fields originate from the pulsar wind outside the companion's magnetosphere.

Effect of outplanting time on commercial cultivation of kelp Laminaria saccharina at the southern limit in the Atlantic coast,***

The aim of the study is to examine the influence of the outplanting time on the cultivation of the kelp Laminaria saccharina in the northwestern Spain, close to its southern limit of distribution in the North Atlantic coast. We compared two L. saccharina cultures outplanted in February and December. We found that the starting time of outplanting affects to the yield and the substantiality value, as well as the growth rate. The yield, the substantiality value and the growth rates of L. saccharina sporophytes obtained for the trial outplanted in December were significantly higher than those in February. These results can be mainly explained by the effect of temperature on the growth of L. saccharina sporophytes during cultivation. On the other hand, our results show that even in the southern limit of distribution of L. saccharina, the cultivation of this species was very profitable in high yield and quality.

Drying of pasty and granular materials in mechanically and conventional spouted beds

A contactor vessel was built to operate as either a mechanically or a conventional spouted bed for the purpose of analyzing the drying of pasty and granular materials under comparable conditions in both configurations. A classical conical–cylindrical spouted bed with a 60° conical base and an air inlet central orifice was modified to enable the switch by introducing in the vessel’s center an open helicoidal conveyor screw placed above the air inlet orifice. This screw is removable and conveniently returns the bed to its conventional spouted configuration. Experiments on drying solutions (calcium carbonate suspensions and skimmed milk) and granular materials (porous alumina particles) were performed for various bed parameter settings. The spouting pressure drop, outlet air temperature, and relative humidity were measured over time under different conditions. Mechanical agitation is proved effective in drying diluted carbonate calcium liquid suspensions and coarse porous alumina particles at an air velocity approximately 50% lower in comparison to drying in a conventional spouted bed. The conventional spouted bed performed better at drying liquid skimmed milk as the mechanical agitation combined with the axial inlet air flow is not effective in mitigating sticking and powder agglomeration in the bed when handling pastes of complex composition. Introducing mechanical agitation in the designed setup broadens the operating range of a conventional spouted bed with axial air flow in the inlet.

Tailoring the partitioning of proteins using ionic liquids as adjuvants in polymer-polymer aqueous biphasic systems

Aqueous biphasic systems(ABS)are promising for proteins purification;however,when dealing with samples comprising several proteins,the selectivity towards a target protein is difficult to *** this work,the addition of ionic liquids(ILs)as adjuvants(5 wt%and 10 wt%)in ABS composed of polyethylene glycol(pEG)and dextran was investigated to tailor proteins partitioning between the coexisting *** liquid-liquid phase diagrams were determined at 298 K,followed by partition studies of three proteins(bovine serum albumin(BSA),immunoglobulin G(IgG),and cytochrome c(cyt c)).partition coefficients of IgG and BSA indicate the preference of both proteins to the dextran-rich phase,whereas cyt c has no preferential partitioning between the *** addition of chloride-based ILs as adjuvants allows to increase or decrease the partition coefficients,thus tailoring the proteins partitioning between the *** partitioning essentially depends on the IL content in each phase,whereas cyt c and IgG partitioning is ruled by the ILs chemical structure and established *** docking was carried out to address the ILs effect on the proteins partitioning,supporting experimental observations,while identifying the specific interactions *** partition of each protein in polymer-salt ABS with ILs as adjuvants was determined,demonstrating the higher tailoring ability of polymer-polymer ABS when adding ***,the partition of each protein in presence of the remaining ones was determined,as well as the selectivity of the studied systems to separate each pair of proteins,paving the way for their use in liquidliquid chromatography.

Aqueous Two-phase Systems Applied to partition proteins from Goat Milk Whey In-Nature

The proteins coming from the milk whey have numerous functional properties. Among the proteins with high bioactivity, α-lactoalbumin (α-La) and β-lactoglobulin (β-Lg) are present in large quantities in the milk whey. In the separation process of proteins, it is important to choose techniques which besides ensuring purity and high yield will not affect the molecule biological activity. The aqueous two-phase systems (ATS) have been utilized with success in the partition of these proteins, however, the studies were performed using protein in its pure form. Studies using milk whey in-nature and goat milk whey have not been found yet. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the liquid liquid equilibrium of aqueous two-phase systems (ATS) in the partition of α-La and β-Lg from goat milk whey in-nature. Equilibrium data were performed considering ATS comprised of polyethylene glycol, potassium phosphate and water at 25°c and pH 7.0. The influence of the polymer molecular weight and amount of goat milk whey in-nature on the partition coefficient of these proteins were assessed. The partition coefficient, selectivity, process yield and purity of α-lactoalbumin and β-lactoglobulin proteins were determined. The results showed that the separation technique by aqueous biphasic systems is applicable indicating high efficiency in the whey proteins separation process.

Bacterial infections are a major threat to the human healthcare system worldwide,as antibiotics are becoming less effective due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant ***,there is a need to explore nontraditional antimicrobial alternatives to support rapid interventions and combat the spread of pathogenic *** nonantibiotic approaches are being developed,many of them at the interface of physics,nanotechnology,and *** physical factors(e.g.,pressure,temperature,and ultraviolet light)are typically used in the sterilization process,nanoparticles and phages(bacterial viruses)are also applied to combat pathogenic ***,phage-based therapies are rising due to the unparalleled specificity and high bactericidal activity of *** the success of phages mostly as compassionate use in clinical cases,some drawbacks need to be addressed,mainly related to their stability,bioavailability,and systemic *** phages with nanoparticles can improve their performance in ***,the combination of nanotechnology and phages might provide tools for the rapid and accurate detection of bacteria in biological samples(diagnosis and typing),and the development of antimicrobials that combine the selectivity of phages with the efficacy of targeted therapy,such as photothermal ablation or photodynamic *** this review,we aim to provide an overview of how phage-based nanotechnology represents a step forward in the fight against multidrug-resistant bacteria.

Ruthenium promotion of co/SBA-15 catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in slurry-phase reactors

The aim of this work was to evaluate the catalytic properties of a Ru promoted co/SBA-15 catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis （FTS）. The Ru promoted co/SBA-15 catalyst was prepared by wet impregnation method and was characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray energy dispersion spectrophotometer, N2 adsorption-desorption, temperature-programmed reduction and transmission electron microscopy. The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis using the catalyst was carried out to evaluate the catalyst activity and its effect on FTS product distribution. The synthesis was carried out in a slurry reactor operating at 513 K, 20 atm, cO ： H2 molar ratio of 1 ： 1. X-ray diffraction showed that the calcined cobalt catalyst did not modify the structure of SBA-15, proving that co was present in the form of co3O4 in the catalyst. The addition of cobalt in SBA-15 decreased the specific superficial area of the molecular sieve. Fischer-Tropsch synthesis activity and c5＋ hydrocarbon selectivity increased with the addition of Ru. The increases in activity and selectivity were attributed to the increased number of active sites resulting from higher reducibility and the synergetic effect of Ru and co. Ru/co/SBA-15 catalysts showed moderate conversion （40%） and high selectivity towards the production of c5＋（80 wt%）.
