In the field of tissue engineering the choice of materials is of great importance given the possibility to use biocompatible polymers produced by means of biotechnology.A large number of synthetic and natural materials have been used to this purpose and processed into scaffolds using Electrospinning *** materials that could be used for the fabrication of scaffold and degradable membranes,natural polymers such as collagen,elastin or fibroin offer the possibility to design structures strictly similar to the extracellular matrix(ECM).biotechnology and genetic engineering made possible the advent of a new class of biopolymers called protein-based *** example is represented by the silk-elastin-proteins that combine the elasticity and resilience of elastin with the high tensile strength of silk-fibroin and display engineered bioactive *** this work,we use electrospinning technique to produce a fibrous scaffold made of the corecombinamer *** fibres have been characterized from the morphological point of *** and morphology have been explored using Scanning Electron Microscopy.A thorough study regarding the influence of Voltage,flow rate and distance have been carried out to determine the appropriate parameters to obtain the fibrous mats without defects and with a good distribution of *** has also been in vitro *** the first time we use the co-recombinamer Silk-ELR for the fabrication of a 2.5 angioplasty balloon *** structure could be useful as a coated scaffold for the regeneration of intima layer of vessels.

The realization of a mixed-phase microstructure in strained biFeO_(3)(bFO)thin films has led to numerous novel effects derived from the coexistence of the tetragonal-like monoclinic phase(T phase)and rhombohedral-like monoclinic phase(R phase).Strong strain and polarization diiferences between the phases should result in a high level of transformation plasticity,which enables the continuous alteration of the relative proportion of R and T states in response to external *** the potential for utilizing such plasticity to control mixed-phase populations under external stimuli is evident,direct experi・mental evidence backed by equilibrium predictions has not yet been fully *** we demonstrate deterministic control of mixed-phase populations in an epitaxially strained bFO thin film through the application of localized stresses and electric fields in a reversible manne匚The results illustrate and rationalize deterministic control of mixed phases in strained bFO films,which could be crucial in tuning their functional *** findings also highlight a new multiparametric technique in the scanning probe lithography toolbox based on tip-assisted electric and strain field manipulation of functional properties that might find application beyond the ferroelectric domain and structural phase lithography.

Work-hardening behaviour of type 316 austenitic stainless steel having difFerent initial dislocation structures introduced by swaging to various levels is analysed by a simplified Kock's model which takes into account the structural changes through the dislocation accumulation and annihilation process during deformation. The dislocation accumulation and annihilation factors show a temperature and structure dependence. The dislocation annihilation factor shows a plateau or decreasing tendency in the dynamic strain ageing (DSA) temperature range. This is attributed as either due to dislocation accumulation being more pronounced than dislocation annihilation or as due to precipitates being formed at DSA temperatures acting as obstacles to dislocation motion in the DSA temperature range.

The control of Spodoptera frugiperda is based on synthetic insecticides,so some alternatives are the use of entomopathogenic fungi(EF)and neem *** objective of the study was to evaluate in vitro effectiveness of native EF and neem extracts on *** *** EF were identified by DNA sequencing of ITS regions from three EF(Fusarium solani,Metarrhizium robertsii,Nigrospora spherica and penicillium citrinum).They were evaluated in concentrations of 1×10⁸spores/*** addition,a second bioassay was carried out evaluating only ***,*** and *** and the addition of vegetable *** the other hand,extraction of secondary metabolites from neem seed(Azadirachta indica)was carried out by performing,mass(g)and solvent volume(mL ethanol and water)combinations,which were subjected to microwaves and ***,these extracts were evaluated in concentrations of 3%,4%and 5%.A survival analysis was performed for each of the *** respect to the results of the first bioassay,*** obtained a probability of survival of 0.476 on the seventh day,while in the second bioassay,*** obtained 0.488 survival *** suggests that the expected percentage of larvae that stay alive on the sixth day is 48.8%.However,in the evaluation of the neem extract the combination 1:12/70%to 4%caused 84% mortality of *** use of native HE and neem extracts has potential for the control of ***.

Effects of antibiotics on hydrogen production and gut symbionts in the Formosan subterranean termite Coptotermes formosanus （Isoptera： Rhinotermitidae）

Symbiotic microorganisms that inhabit the gut of Coptotermes formosanus enable this termite to degrade lignocelluloses and further produce hydrogen as an important intermediate to be recycled in its hindgut or as a byproduct to be emitted to the atmosphere. both symbiotic protists and prokaryotes in the guts of termites demonstrated some different roles with respect to hydrogen production. In this study, the effects of two antibiotics, ampicillin and tetracycline, on hydrogen emission and the gut symbionts of C. formosanus were investigated. Hydrogen emission from termite guts was significantly enhanced when termites fed on wood diets treated with either ampicillin or tetracycline. The greatest H2 emission rates, 2 519 4- 74 and 2 080 ＋ 377 nmol/h/g body weight, were recorded with the treatments of ampicillin and tetracycline, respectively, which showed 6-7 times more H2 production than that of controls. Antibiotic-treated diets negatively affected the prokaryotic communities and reduced their abundances, particularly on those ectosymbionts inhabiting the gut walls or in the gut fluid of C. formosanus, such as spirochetes. However, no signif- icant reductions in the cotmts of gut cellulolytic protists, pseudotrichonympha grassii and Holomastigotoids hartmanni, were recorded; and with a further observation by confocal laser scanning microscopy, the endosymbionts inhabiting p. grassii generally survived the antibiotic treatments. These results suggest that some prokaryotes may serve as the main hydrogen consumers, while p. grassii, together with its endosymbionts, may function as the main contributors for hydrogen production in the hindgut of C. formosanus.

In a recent study published in Nature,1 Hsueh et *** a non-invasive optogenetic approach to control heart rate in freely moving *** induced tachycardia elicited an anxiety-like state in risky contexts,with the posterior insular cortex mediating the apprehensive behaviours arising from cardiac pacing(Fig.1).Whereas the link between emotions and bodily functions is part of the human experience,whether emotions are cause or consequence of their associated responses has been long debated by psychologists and *** anxiety lead to an increased heart rate,or conversely,does a racing heart drive anxious behaviours?There is ample evidence linking mental and cardiac *** meta-analysis studies have shown an increased risk of heart disease in patients suffering from anxiety or stress-related disorders.

In order to propose a seismic design spectrum that includes the effect of rupture directivity in the near-fault region, this study investigates the application of equivalent pulses to the parameter attenuation relationships developed for near-fault, forward-directivity motions. Near-fault ground motions are represented by equivalent pulses with different waveforms defined by a small number of parameters （peak acceleration, A, and velocity V; and pulse period, Tv）. Dimensionless ratios between these parameters （e.g., ATv/V, VTv/D） and response spectral shapes and amplitudes are examined for different pulses to gain insight on their dependence on basic pulse waveforms. Ratios of ATv/V, VTv/D, and the ratio of pulse period to the period for peak spectral velocity （Tv-p） are utilized to quantify the difference between rock and soil sites for near-fault forward-directivity ground motions. The ATv/Vratio of recorded near-fault motions is substantially larger for rock sites than that for soil sites, while Tvp/Tv ratios are smaller at rock sites than at soil sites. Furthermore, using simple pulses and available predictive relationships for the pulse parameters, a preliminary model for the design acceleration response spectra for the near-fault region that includes the dependence on magnitude, rupture distance, and local site conditions are developed.

HSLA steels constitute one of the main types of steels produced worldwide by Thin Slab Direct Rolling technologies (TSDR).Among microalloying elements,the most widely used are V,Nb and *** elements play different roles during the austenite evolution in *** austenite conditioning before transformation,the limitations in the total reduction that can be applied in TSDR technologies need to be considered when composition/process parameters are *** this context,whereas an important number of studies have been focused on Nb microalloyed grades,a less systematic analysis has been performed concerning the role of vanadium on austenite *** paper analyzes these singularities taking into account different process parameter conditions,such as total reduction and initial rolling temperature.
