Comparative performance analysis of stroke correspondence search methods for stroke-order free online multi-stroke character recognition

For stroke-order free online multi-stroke charac- ter recognition, stroke-to-stroke correspondence search be- tween an input pattern and a reference pattern plays an im- portant role to deal with the stroke-order variation. Although various methods of stroke correspondence have been pro- posed, no comparative study for clarifying the relative su- periority of those methods has been done before. In this pa- per, we firstly review the approaches for solving the stroke- order variation problem. Then, five representative methods of stroke correspondence proposed by different groups, includ- ing cube search （CS）, bipartite weighted matching （BWM）, individual correspondence decision （ICD）, stable marriage （SM）, and deviation-expansion model （DE）, are experimen- tally compared, mainly in regard of recognition accuracy and efficiency. The experimental results on an online Kanji char- acter dataset, showed that 99.17%, 99.17%, 96.37%, 98.54%, and 96.59% were attained by CS, BWM, ICD, SM, and DE, respectively as their recognition rates. Extensive discussions are made on their relative superiorities and practicalities.

Intermetallic beryllides are potential light-weight, high-temperature structural materials. In this paper. the processing techniques, microstructure. deformation, and oxidation properties of intermetallic beryllides are described. In addition to nickel beryllides (NiBe). which is treated as a model *** high beryllium-containing refractory beryllides, such as Nb2 Be17. VBe12. are also *** room temperature deformation and high-temperature creep properties of these beryllides are repor4ed. At room temperature. NiBe exhibits certain tensile ductility (~ 1 .3%). but all other beryllides are essentially brittle. Nonetheless, these beryllides become ductile at temperatures above approximately 1000℃. Their creep properties are presented. The creep properties are compared with those of intermetallic aluminides. Also. a comparison is made between the ductile-to-brittle transition behaviour of intermetallic beryllides and that of aluminides. Although beryllides are generally oxidation resistant at high temperatures, some beryllides, e.g., ZrBe13, suffer the pest reaction during oxidation at intermediate tem peratures. The water level in the Three Gorges Dam reservoir is expected to change between the elevations of 145 m and 175 m, as a function of the flood control implementation and the intensity of the annual flood. As a matter of fact, the hydraulical and mechanical loadings, related to the water level modifications, will result in alterations in the slope stability conditions. The town of Badong (Hubei), of 20 000 inhabitants, is one of the towns which was submerged by the impoundment of the reservoir. As a consequence, the new town of Badong was constructed on a nearby site which appeared to be partly an unstable site. A part of this site corresponds to an old landslide, the Huangtupo landslide, the base of which had to be submerged by the water of the reservoir. The analysis of the Huangtupo landslide, taking into account various events scenarios, drainage and reinforcement measures and monitoring devices, allows to illustrate the general process implemented all along the reservoir in order to mitigate the landslide hazard.

The aim of this work was to supply an overview of the germline pharmacogenetics that can be already implemented in the oncology clinical *** explanation of the three pillars considered necessary for determining which genetic polymorphisms should be used has been *** are pharmGKB single nucleotide polymorphism(SNp)-Drug Clinical Annotations with levels of evidence 1 or 2;the genetic information provided in the drug labels by the drug regulatory main agencies(Food and Drug Administration and European Medicines Agency,mainly);and the guidelines elaborated by international expert consortia(mainly Clinical pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium and Dutch pharmacogenetics Working Group).A summary of the relevant SNps and the recommendations on how to apply their results has also been compiled.

A surface wind (seabreeze), thermally generated by differential sea surface temperature, is introduced to Gill-Clarke’s model (1974) through wind stress for investigating the effects of seabreeze on coastal upwel-ling. A coupled air-sea system is treated as an eigenvalue problem. The solutions show that the thermally forced local winds break down the coastal Kelvin wave into three parts: small-scale (Lcale (100 kmcaying and fast-moving modes, and ’large’-scale (L>200 km) coastal Kelvin modes. The consistency of the length scale between the most growing mode predicted by this model and the observed cold/warm alternation pattern of surface water near the peruvian Coast (around 15 °S) implies that seabreeze may play some role in coastal upwelling.

Objective:To investigate the antiproliferative,anti-angiogenic,and apoptotic effects of extracts of Achillea biebersteinii(ABE)and combined treatments of ABE with 5-fluorouracil(5-FU)on HT-29 ***:The effects of ABE,5-FU,and combined treatments on the viability of HT-29 cells were determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide *** analysis was used to determine synergism between ABE and *** apoptotic and anti-angiogenic effects were determined by cell death detection and human vascular endothelial growth factor ELISA method,*** and translational expressions of p53,Bax,Bcl-2,p38 MApK,Akt,pTEN,and m TOR were also evaluated by real-time pCR and Western blotting ***:ABE decreased the viability of HT-29 cells in a dosedependent *** treatment of hexane,chloroform,and methanol extracts of Achillea biebersteinii with 5-FU at IC50 doses decreased the cell viability to 26.0%,19.1%,and 14.9%,respectively(ppoptosis,significantly downregulated m TOR,Akt,Bcl-2 expression,upregulated p53,Bax,pTEN,p38 MApK expression,and exhibited anti-angiogenetic ***:Our findings indicate that ABE shows synergism with 5-FU and inhibits the proliferation of HT-29 cells by inducing apoptosis and suppressing angiogenesis,which may provide biological evidence for further use of ABE in the treatment of colorectal cancer.

Large quantities of mussel shells （66000-94000 t year^-1）, an alkaline material that can be used as a soil amendment, are generated as waste in Galicia, NW Spain. A field trial was carried out by planting different pasture species in a Haplic Umbrisol using a randomized block design with four blocks and six treatments （not amended control or soil amended with lime, finely ground shell, coarsely ground shell, finely ground calcined shell or coarsely ground calcined shell） to compare the effects of lime and mussel shells additions on a soil with a low cation exchange capacity and high AI saturation. The trial was established in March 2007, and samples of plants and soil were collected when plots were harvested in summer 2008 （separating the bulk and rhizosphere soil）. The soils were analyzed for pH, total C, total N, available p, exchangeable cations, effective cation exchange capacity and available micronutrients. Dry matter yield was measured in all plots and plants were analyzed for nutrients. Application of mussel shells and the commercial lime resulted in an increase in pH and exchangeable ca and a decrease in exchangeable Al and Al were most noticeable in the rhizosphere. The amendment of ca in the plant. saturation. The stability of pH over time was high. These effects also had a positive effect on dry matter yield and concentration
