Influence of previous plane of nutrition on molecular mechanisms regulating the expression of urea and water metabolism related genes in the rumen and kidney of finishing crossbred Angus steers

This study aimed to understand how molecular mechanisms controlling water and urea metabolism at the finishing phase can be affected by previous plane of nutrition of crossbred Angus beef steers. Twentyfour(n = 24) animals were randomly distributed into either a moderate(Mp) or high plane of nutrition during the background phase for 85 d. Animals were then blocked by their previous plane and were moved onto a 105-d finishing phase in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. The forage-finished group received only high-quality alfalfa hay, whereas the grain-fed group received a high grain diet(80% whole corn and20% alfalfa hay). by the end of the finishing phase, animals were harvested and tissue samples from the rumen and kidney were collected. Changes in gene expression of aquaporins(AQp)-2,-3,-4,-7, ATp1A1,ATp1b1, sGK1, CLIC1(kidney and rumen), UT-A1(kidney only) and UT-b(rumen only), were assayed via real-time q pCR; 18s r RNA was used as an endogenous control. One-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc analysis was conducted. When animals were from Mp, forage-finishing increased the relative abundance of AQp3(p ≤ 0.05), AQp7(p ≤ 0.05), ATp1b1(p ≤ 0.05), and sGK1(p ≤ 0.05) in the kidney when compared to grain-fed animals. In the rumen, for the Mp group, AQp7 was differentially expressed in both treatments at the finishing phase(p ≤ 0.01), with forage-finished steers having the highest expression of AQp7. For the Mp group, UT-b had a tendency of presenting a higher expression on grainfed animals(p = 0.075). Overall, these results suggest that previous plane can impact expression of genes associated with water and urea metabolism during the finishing phase, namely AQp3, AQp7, ATp1b1, and sGK1 in the kidney, and AQp7 and UT-b in the rumen. The greatest impact observed on gene expression changes of investigated genes at the finishing phase was reflective of animals backgrounded on the moderate previous plane.

Many studies propose a significant shift in the tectonic and paleogeographic evolution of the Andes in south-central Chile and Argentina during the Late *** has been proposed that the preceding Jurassic-Early Cretaceous extensional regime that resulted in a low-relief volcanic arc and the backarc Neuquén basin came to an end,giving way to shortening and Andean growth from the Late Cretaceous ***,there are disagreements regarding the timing and nature of this transition to Andean *** address these issues,we conducted geochronologic(U-pb and^(40)Ar/&(39)Ar),sedimentologic,and structural studies on Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks in the Río Maule area(principal Cordillera,Chile,36°s).From our findings and prior analyses,we propose the following tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the region.(1)Marine deposition of the Tithonian-Hauterivian baños del Flaco Formation took place in an extensional backarc basin.(2)After a~40 Myr hiatus,fluvial deposits of the Colimapu Formation and volcanic rocks of the plan de los Yeuques Formation accumulated during the *** the Colimapu Formation displays evidence of syndepositional shortening,the plan de los Yeuques Formation exhibits synextensional growth *** to other studies,our results suggest that the Chilean part of the principal Cordillera was largely a zone of active deposition rather than an elevated fold-thrust belt during the Late *** propose that sedimentation occurred within a series of relatively stable intermontane subbasins generated by shortening,followed by extension.(3)After a~20 Myr hiatus,middle Eocene to early Miocene(Lutetian-Aquitanian)accumulation of a thick succession of andesitic lavas and minor clastic sediments of the Abanico Formation occurred in an intraarc extensional basin.(4)Finally,major shortening and uplift of previously deposited Mesozoic-Cenozoic rocks took place throughout the *** phase constitu

The effect of temperature on the electrical conductivity （σ） and seebeck coefficient （s） of n-type vapor grown carbon nanofibers （CNFs）and poly（vinylidene fluoride）(pVDF) melt-mixed with 15 wt%of those CNFs is *** 40°C,the CNFs show stable n-type character (s=-4.8μV·K-1) with anσof ca.165 s·m-1,while the pVDF/CNF composite film shows anσof ca.9 s·m-1and near-zero s (s=-0.5μV·K-1).This experimental reduction in s is studied by the density functional tight binding （DFTb） method revealing a contact electron transfer from the CNFs to the pVDF in the ***,in the temperature range from 40°C to 100°C,theσ（T） of the CNFs and pVDF/CNF film,successfully described by the 3D variable range hopping （VRH） model,is explained as consequence of a thermally activated backscattering *** the contrary,the s（T）from 40°C to 100°C of the pVDF/CNF film,which satisfactorily matches the model proposed for some multi-walled carbon nanotube （MWCNT）doped mats;however,it does not follow the increase in s（T） found for *** these findings are presented with the aim of discerning the role of these n-type vapor grown carbon nanofibers on theσand s of their melt-mixed polymer composites.

Applying a Context-based Method to build a Knowledge Graph for the blue Amazon

Knowledge graphs are employed in several tasks,such as question answering and recommendation systems,due to their ability to represent relationships between *** constructing such a graphs,however,remains an unresolved challenge within knowledge *** tackle this challenge,we propose CtxKG,a method specifically aimed at extracting knowledge graphs in a context of limited resources in which the only input is a set of unstructured text *** is based on OpenIE(a relationship triple extraction method)and bERT(a language model)and contains four stages:the extraction of relationship triples directly from text;the identification of synonyms across triples;the merging of similar entities;and the building of bridges between knowledge graphs of different *** method distinguishes itself from those in the current literature(i)through its use of the parse tree to avoid the overlapping entities produced by base implementations of OpenIE;and(ii)through its bridges,which create a connected network of graphs,overcoming a limitation similar methods have of one isolated graph per *** compare our method to two others by generating graphs for movie articles from Wikipedia and contrasting them with benchmark graphs built from the OMDb movie *** results suggest that our method is able to improve multiple aspects of knowledge graph *** also highlight the critical role that triple identification and named-entity recognition have in improving the quality of automatically generated graphs,suggesting future paths for ***,we apply CtxKG to build blabKG,a knowledge graph for the blue Amazon,and discuss possible improvements.

In astrophysics, the boundary conditions for plasma phenomena are provided by nature and the astronomer faces the problem of understanding them from a variety of observations [Hester J J et al 1996 Astrophys. J. 456 225], on the other hand, in laboratory plasma experiments the electromagnetic boundary conditions become a major problem in the set-up of the machine that produces the plasma, an issue that has to be investigated step by step and to be modified and adapted with great patience, in particular in the case of an innovative plasma confinement experiment. The pROTO-spHERA machine [Alladio F et al 2006 Nucl. Fusion 46 s613] is a magnetic confinement experiment, that emulates in the laboratory the jet + torus plasma configurations often observed in astrophysics: an inner magnetized jet of plasma centered on the(approximate) axis of symmetry and surrounded by a magnetized plasma torus orthogonal to this jet. The pROTO-spHERA plasma is simply connected, i.e., no metal current conducting rod is linked to the plasma torus, while instead it is the inner magnetized plasma jet(in the following always called the plasma centerpost) that is linked to the torus. It is mandatory that no spurious plasma current path modifies the optimal shape of the plasma centerpost. Moreover, as the plasma torus is produced and sustained, in absence of any applied inductive electric field, by the inner plasma centerpost through magnetic reconnections [Taylor J b and Turner M F 1989 *** 29 219], it is required as well that spurious current paths do not surround the torus on its outboard, in order not to lower the efficiency of the magnetic reconnections that maintain the plasma torus at the expense of the plasma centerpost. boundary conditions have been corrected,up to the point that the first sustainment in steady state has been achieved for the combined plasma.

In recent years,gold nanoparticles have demonstrated excellent enzyme-mimicking activities which resemble those of peroxidase,oxidase,catalase,superoxide dismutase or ***,merged with their ease of synthesis,tunability,biocompatibility and low cost,makes them excellent candidates when compared with biological enzymes for applications in biomedicine or biochemical ***,over 200 research papers have been systematically reviewed to present the recent progress on the fundamentals of gold nanozymes and their potential *** review reveals that the morphology and surface chemistry of the nanoparticles play an important role in their catalytic properties,as well as external parameters such as pH or ***,real applications often require specific biorecognition elements to be immobilized onto the nanozymes,leading to unexpected positive or negative effects on their ***,rational design of efficient nanozymes remains a challenge of paramount *** implementation paths have already been explored,including the application of peroxidase-like nanozymes for the development of clinical diagnostics or the regulation of oxidative stress within cells via their catalase and superoxide dismutase *** review also indicates that it is essential to understand how external parameters may boost or inhibit each of these activities,as more than one of them could ***,further toxicity studies are required to ensure the applicability of gold nanozymes in *** challenges and future prospects of gold nanozymes are discussed in this review,whose significance can be anticipated in a diverse range of fields beyond biomedicine,such as food safety,environmental analyses or the chemical industry.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAs Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Hematological parameters can provide key information to an animal health ***,this information is usually hard to ***,we described the hematological parameters of Leptodactylus podicipinus in the brazilian *** measured red blood cell morphometrics,erythrogram,and *** also tested for phylogenetic signal in the erythrogram and leukogram of 48 frog species from 15 families,testing if body size explains their *** were the most abundant leukocytes(>60%)in ***,followed by neutrophils(∼10%).Given that *** is an abundant and widely distributed species in central brazil,knowing its hematological pattern can help establish a baseline and improve its use as a bioindicator of environmental *** corpuscular hemoglobin and value contributed more to the phylomorphospace of erythrogram,in which Leptodactylus *** Hypsiboas raniceps had lower values of these variables,whereas bufotes viridis and Hyla arborea had high *** phylogenetic signal was spread throughout the dimensions of the leukogram *** variables that most contributed to it were total leukocytes counts,lymphocytes,and *** also found a moderate phylogenetic signal for both the erythrogram and ***,body size accounted for a low proportion of variation in both the leukogram(4.7%)and erythrogram(0.57%).by applying phylogenetic comparative methods to hematological parameters,our results add a new perspective on the evolution of blood cell physiology in frogs.

The density-functional theory is widely used to predict the physical properties of ***,it usually fails for strongly correlated materials.A popular solution is to use the Hubbard correction to treat strongly correlated electronic ***,the values of the Hubbard U and J parameters are initially unknown,and they can vary from one material to *** this semi-empirical study,we explore the U and J parameter space of a group of iron-based compounds to simultaneously improve the prediction of physical properties(volume,magnetic moment,and bandgap).We used a bayesian calibration assisted by Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling for three different exchange-correlation functionals(LDA,pbE,and pbEsol).We found that LDA requires the largest U *** has the smallest standard deviation and its U and J parameters are the most transferable to other iron-based ***,pbE predicts lattice parameters reasonably well without the Hubbard correction.
