Flexible and free-standing electrospun nanofibres have been used as electrode materials in electrochemical energy storage systems due to their versatile properties,such as mechanical stability,superb electrical conductivity,and high functionality.In energy storage systems such as metal-ion,metal-air,and metal-sulphur batteries,electrospun nanofibres are vital for constructing flexible electrodes and substantially enhancing their electrochemical properties.The need for flexible batteries has increased with increasing demand for new products such as wearable and flexible devices,including smartwatches and flexible displays.Conventional batteries have several semirigid to rigid components that limit their expansion in the flexible device market.The creation of flexible and wearable batteries with greater mechanical flexibility,higher energy,and substantial power density is critical in meeting the demand for these new electronic items.The implementation of carbon and carbon-derived composites into flexible electrodes is required to realize this goal.It is essential to understand recent advances and the comprehensive foundation behind the synthesis and assembly of various flexible electrospun nanofibres.The design of nanofibres,including those comprising carbon,N-doped carbon,hierarchical,porous carbon,and metal/metal oxide carbon composites,will be explored.We will highlight the merits of electrospun carbon flexible electrodes by describing porosity,surface area,binder-free and free-standing electrode construction,cycling stability,and performance rate.Significant scientific progress has been achieved and logistical challenges have been met in promoting secondary battery usage;therefore,this review of flexible electrode materials will advance this easily used and sought-after technology.The challenges and prospects involved in the timely development of carbon nanofibre composite flexible electrodes and batteries will be addressed.

Radiation of the Oriental phlebotomine sand flies （Diptera： psychodidae）

The historical biogeography ofphlebotomine sand fly taxa Hertigia, Warileya, phlebotomus （Idiophlebotomus）, R （Spelaeophlebotomus）, p. （Anaphlebotomus）, and p. （Euphlebotomus） and the phlebotomus （Euphlebotomus） argentipes species complex was investigated using phylogenetic inference from comparative genital morphology, distribution of ancestral taxa, fossil evidence and geological age. Idiophlebotomus and Euphlebotomus occur in the Oriental region with one species from northeast Australia, whereas Anaphlebotomus occurs both in the Afro-tropical and Oriental regions. These disjunct distribution patterns across the Oriental region and the present day distribution are likely to be vicariance due to break of Gondwanaland. Fossil records, extant taxa distribution, phylogenetic analysis of the Old World phlebotominae and paleogeography suggest that ancestors ofldiophlebotomus and Euphlebotomus originated apparently in the Cimmerian continent of northern margin of Gondwanaland in the early permian （290 million years ago, MYA） and subsequently radiated in the Mesozoic by tectonic vicariance. The phlebotomus argentipes species complex occurs in the South and South-east Asian countries and transmits the protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani that causes visceral leishmaniasis （Kala-azar） in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The phylogeography ofp. argentipes was caused through vicariance followed by dispersal events from 50 MYA （the Eocene） until the Recent era.

Optimal Su-Do-Ku based interconnection scheme for increased power output from pV array under partial shading conditions

partial shading is a common phenomenon in pV arrays. They drastically reduce the power output because of mismatch losses, which are reliant on the shape of the shade as well as the locations of shaded panels in the array. The power output can be improved by distributing the shade over various rows to maximize the current entering the node. A Su-Do-Ku configuration can be used to rearrange the physical locations of the pV modules in a total cross tied pV array with the electrical connections left unchanged. However, this arrangement increases the length of the wire required to interconnect the panels thus increasing the line losses. In this paper, an improved Su-Do-Ku arrangement that reduces the length of the wire required for the connection is proposed. The system is designed and simulated in a Matlab/Simulink environment for various shading patterns and the efficacies of various arrangements are compared. The results prove that the power output is higher in the proposed improved Su-Do- Ku reconfiguration technique compared to the earlier proposed Su-Do-Ku technique.

Enhanced and fast fluoride adsorption using cerium organic frameworks based hydrotalcite hybrid material

In this present study,hydrotalcite(HT) implanted Ce-BTC metal organic frameworks(MOFs) abbreviated as HT-CeMOFs were developed for rapid fluoride adsorption.The microscopic properties of the prepared HT-CeMOFs material were studied with different characterization techniques.To identify the fluoride adsorption route,the batch experiments such as pH,dosage,adsorption time,interfering anions,initial ion concentration,selectivity,temperature and pHzpcstudies were portrayed towards fluoride removal by HT-CeMOFs.The utmost defluoridation capacity(DC) of HT-CeMOFs is found to be 4662 mg/(F·kg).Fluoride adsorption route onto HT-CeMOFs is followed by Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order with intraparticle diffusion model.Fluoride removal by HT-CeMOFs is spontaneous with endothermic nature.Adsorption mechanism of HT-CeMOFs towards fluoride is followed by electrostatic interaction,ion-exchange and complexation.The regeneration and field exploration of HT-CeMOFs towards fluoride adsorption were performed and their results reveal that the HT-CeMOFs are regenerable and more suitable at field conditions.

Dear Editor, Herbal medicines have been used for prevention and treatment of human diseases and promotion of healthy living. These medicines, often self medicated and consumed as concentrated extracts, are not strictly regulated. Considering their popular use and increasing safety concerns, thorough evaluations of their efficacy and safety are warranted to protect consumers from potential adverse effects. Toxicity tests （acute, sub- acute and chronic） using animals are widely applied to evaulate adverse effects of a drug and thereby determine its ＂No Observed Adverse Effect Level＂（NOAEL）.

The role of intermediaries in US workforce and education innovation

Intermediaries are specialised organisations that perform bridging and integrative functions to achieve improved results of social policies.Intermediaries have been most effective in the United States(US)when aligned with education and workforce system improvements and redesign,not as parallel and separate efforts.Intermediaries operate in many US social policy domains,including workforce and education,where they contribute to overcoming fragmented institutions and solving mismatch problems that interfere with hiring,career pathways and educational achievements.Intermediary solutions are especially important for creating better outcomes for low-income students and workers and improving overall racial and ethnic equity.Five mismatches especially prevalent in the US labour market require intermediary solutions:organising business to improve human resources,creating improved pathways from school to work,integrating and focussing multiple education investments,linking workforce and economic development,and improving access and use of data for design,performance management and advocacy.This paper discusses these mismatches and related intermediary solutions in more depth,offers examples of specific intermediaries in action and identifies intermediary challenges and opportunities faced by intermediaries to function better.The paper also points out that,more broadly,intermediaries are only a part of the solution to labour market and education inequalities and that broader changes in the political economy and policies are required to effect wage growth and labour market participation.

Investigational treatments for neurodegenerative diseases caused by inheritance of gene mutations:lessons from recent clinical trials

We reviewed recent major clinical trials with investigational drugs for the treatment of subjects with neurodegenerative diseases caused by inheritance of gene mutations or associated with genetic risk factors.Specifically,we discussed randomized clinical trials in subjects with Alzheimer's disease,Huntington's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis bearing pathogenic gene mutations,and glucocerebrosidase-associated parkinson's disease.Learning potential lessons to improve future therapeutic approaches is the aim of this review.Two long-term,controlled trials on three anti-β-amyloid monoclonal antibodies(solanezumab,gantenerumab and crenezumab)in subjects carrying Alzheimer's disease-linked mutated genes encoding for amyloid precursor protein or presenilin 1 or presenilin 2 failed to show cognitive or functional benefits.A major trial on tominersen,an antisense oligonucleotide designed to reduce the production of the huntingtin protein in subjects with Huntington's disease,was prematurely interrupted because the drug failed to show higher efficacy than placebo and,at highest doses,led to worsened outcomes.A 28-week trial of tofersen,an antisense oligonucleotide for superoxide dismutase 1 in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with superoxide dismutase 1 gene mutations failed to show significant beneficial effects but the 1-year open label extension of this study indicated better clinical and functional outcomes in the group with early tofersen therapy.A trial of venglustat,a potent and brain-penetrant glucosylceramide synthase inhibitor,in parkinson's disease subjects with heterozygous glucocerebrosidase gene mutations revealed worsened clinical and cognitive performance of patients on the enzyme inhibitor compared to placebo.We concluded that clinical trials in neurodegenerative diseases with a genetic basis should test monoclonal antibodies,antisense oligonucleotides or gene editing directed against the mutated enzyme or the mutated substrate without dramatically affecting physiological wild-type var

To the Editor:Terlipressin is a long-acting synthetic analogue of vasopressin,demonstrating several potential benefits in the context of living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).During the recipient hepatec-tomy,terlipressin reduces the portal flow.Consequently,it may mitigate the extent of bowel congestion following portal vein clamping.By decreasing portal hyperperfusion and hypertension,it protects the graft from further injury and improves renal blood flow.
