The objective of the present study is to develop cost effective thermoplastic hybrid laminate using Dyneema®HB50 and Tensylon®HSBD 30A through structural hybridization *** having 20 mm thickness were fabricated and subjected to 7.6239 mm mild steel core projectile with an impact velocity of 730±10 ms*** such as energy absorption,back face deformation and rate of back face deformation were measured as a function of hybridization *** was observed that hybrid laminate with 50:50 ratio(w/w)of Tensylon®and Dyneema®with Tensylon®as front face showed 200%more energy absorption when compared to 100%Tensylon®laminate and showed equal energy absorption as that of expensive 100%Dyneema®***,hybrid laminate with TD50:50 ratio showed 40%lower in terms of final back face deformation than Dyneema®*** of back face deformation was also found to be slow for hybrid laminate as compared to Dyneema®*** mechanical analysis showed that,Tensylon®laminate has got higher stiffness and lower damping factor than Dyneema®and hybrid *** interface between Tensylon®and Dyneema®layers was found to be separating during the penetration process due to the poor interfacial *** behaviour of laminates for different hybridization ratios were studied by sectioning the impacted *** was observed that,the Tensylon®laminate has undergone shear cutting of fibers as major failure mode whereas the hybrid laminate showed shear cutting followed by tensile stretching,fiber pull out and *** inputs are highly useful for body armour applications to design cost effective armour with enhanced performance.

Broad-band and long-period magnetotelluric(MT)data were acquired along an east-west trending traverse of nearly 200 km across the Kachchh,Cambay rift basins,and Aravalli-Delhi fold belt(ADFB),western *** regional strike analysis of MT data indicated an approximate N59°E geoelectric strike direction under the traverse and it is in fair agreement with the predominant geological strike in the study *** decomposed transverse electric(TE)-and transverse magnetic(TM)-data modes were inverted using a nonlinear conjugate gradient algorithm to image the electrical lithospheric structure across the Cambay rift basin and its surrounding *** studies show a thick(~1-5 km)layer of conductive Tertiary-Mesozoic sediments beneath the Kachchh and Cambay rift *** resistive blocks indicate presence of basic/ultrabasic volcanic intrusives,depleted mantle lithosphere,and different precambrian structural *** crustal conductor delineated within the ADFB indicates the presence of fluids within the fault zones,sulfide mineralization within polyphase metamorphic rocks,and/or Aravalli-Delhi sediments/*** observed conductive anomalies beneath the Cambay rift basin indicate the presence of basaltic underplating,volatile(CO2,H2 O)enriched melts and channelization of melt fractions/fluids into crustal depths that occurred due to plume-lithosphere *** variations in electrical resistivity observed across the profile indicate that the impact of Reunion plume on lithospheric structures of the Cambay rift basin is more dominant at western continental margin of India(WCMI)and thus support the hypothesis proposed by Campbell&Griffiths about the plume-lithosphere interactions.

Insulator becomes wet partially or completely, and the pollution layer on itbecomes conductive, when collecting pollutants for an extended period during dew, light rain, mist,fog or snow melting. Heavy rain is a complicated factor that it may wash away the pollution layerwithout initiating other stages of breakdown or it may bridge the gaps between sheds to promoteflashover. The insulator with a conducting pollution layer being energized, can cause a surfaceleakage current to flow (also temperature-rise). As the surface conductivity is non-uniform, theconducting pollution layer becomes broken by dry bands (at spots of high current density),interrupting the flow of leakage current. Voltage across insulator gets concentrated across drybands, and causes high electric stress and breakdown (dry band arcing). If the resistance of theinsulator surface is sufficiently low, the dry band arcs can be propagated to bridge the terminalscausing flashover. The present paper concerns the evaluation of the temperature distribution alongthe surface of an energized artificially polluted insulator string.

The mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of carbon phenolic(C-ph)composites(Type-I)reinforced with different weight percentages of organo-modified montmorillonite(o-MMT)nanoclay have been studied *** milling was used to disperse different weight(wt)percentages(0,1,2,4,6 wt.%)of nanoclay into phenolic *** changes to resin due to nanoclay was *** the other hand,nanoclay added phenolic matrix composites(Type-II)were prepared to study the dispersion of nanoclay in phenolic matrix by small angle X-ray scattering and thermal stability changes to the matrix by thermogravimetric analyser(TGA).This data was used to understand the mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of Type-I *** laminar shear strength(ILSS),flexural strength and flexural modulus of Type I composites increased by about 29%,12%and 7%respectively at2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which these properties *** was attributed to reduced fiber volume fraction(%Vf)of Type-I composites due to nanoclay addition at such high *** ablation rate of Type-I composites was evaluated using oxy acetylene torch test at low heat flux(125 W/cm^(2))and high heat flux levels(500 W/cm^(2)).Mass ablation rates have increased at both flux levels marginally up to 2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which it has increased *** is in contrast to increased thermal stability observed for Type-I and Type-II composites up to 2 wt.%addition of *** ablation rates due to nanoclay addition was attributed to higher insulation efficiency of nanolcay,which accumulates more heat energy in limited area behind the ablation front and self-propagating ablation mechanisms triggered by thermal decomposition of organic part of nanoclay.

The most promising and most feasible application of solar-wind hybrid energy is in the area of space and service water heating. Since these heating processes require only moderate temperatures, they can be easily achieved by the use of low-cost flat-plate collectors and low cut-in wind turbines. As the heating of buildings and provision of hot water account for a very significant percent of the total energy consumption in Cleveland, the diversion of these energy demands to solar-wind hybrid energy would result in a substantial relief of our dependence on fossil fuels and other forms of energy resources.

The discovery of induced pluripotent stem cells (ipSCs) unraveled a mystery in stem cell research, after identification of four re-programming factors for generating pluripotent stem cells without the need of embryos. This breakthrough in generating ipSCs from somatic cells has overcome the ethical issues and immune rejection involved in the use of human embryonic stem cells. Hence, ipSCs form a great potential source for developing disease models, drug toxicity screening and cell-based therapies. These cells have the potential to differentiate into desired cell types, including hepatocytes, under in vitro as well as under in vivo conditions given the proper microenvironment. ipSC-derived hepatocytes could be useful as an unlimited source, which can be utilized in disease modeling, drug toxicity testing and producing autologous cell therapies that would avoid immune rejection and enable correction of gene defects prior to cell transplantation. In this review, we discuss the induction methods, role of reprogramming factors, and characterization of ipSCs, along with hepatocyte differentiation from ipSCs and potential applications. Further, we discuss the location and detection of liver stem cells and their role in liver regeneration. Although tumor formation and genetic mutations are a cause of concern, ipSCs still form a promising source for clinical applications.

A boundary layer analysis is presented for the natural convection past a horizontal plate in a porous medium saturated with a nano fluid. Numerical results for friction factor, surface heat transfer rate and mass transfer rate have been presented for parametric variations of the buoyancy ratio parameter Nr, Brownian motion parameter Nb, thermophoresis parameter Nt and Lewis number Le. The dependency of the friction factor, surface heat transfer rate (Nusselt number) and mass transfer rate on these parameters has been discussed.

Image processing techniques have become highly essential to improve the data usefulness of the raw images obtained for infrared non-destructive evaluation(NDE).The identification of defective regions from a thermogram has been a common problem in the field of *** segmentation is one of the promising approaches to identify defective regions from *** the present work,segmentation approach based on clustering is *** this image patterns are organized into clusters or groups considering the relationship among *** method involves finding the centroids of the regions and formation of clusters around each *** is applied to improve accuracy in formation of *** thresholding method is adapted to retrieve the shape of defect and to improve the possible diagnosis capabilities of system for NDE *** proposed method is investigated with frequency modulated thermal wave imaging(FMTWI)over glass fiber reinforced polymers(GFRp).The GFRp sample consists of square shaped Teflon inserts of different dimensions placed at various depths.A comparative study of the proposed novel segmentation scheme and existing segmentation methods is conducted.
