This study elaborates on the design,fabrication,and data analysis details of SpEED,a recently proposed smartphonebased digital polymerase chain reaction(dpCR)*** dpCR chips incorporate partition diameters ranging from 50μm to 5μm,and these partitions are organized into six distinct blocks to facilitate image *** to the superior thermal conductivity of Si and its potential for mass production,the dpCR chips were fabricated on a Si substrate.A temperature control system based on a high-power density peltier element and a preheating/cooling pCR protocol user interface shortening the thermal cycle *** optical design employs four 470 nm light-emitting diodes as light sources,with filters and mirrors effectively managing the light emitted during *** algorithm is utilized for image processing and illumination nonuniformity correction including conversion to a monochromatic format,partition identification,skew correction,and the generation of an image correction *** validated the device using a range of deoxyribonucleic acid targets,demonstrating its potential applicability across multiple ***,we provide guidance and verification of the design and testing of the recently proposed SpEED device.

Size Dependent Heat Conduction in One-Dimensional Diatomic Lattices

We study the size dependency of heat conduction in one-dimensional diatomic FpU-β lattices and establish that for low dimensional material,contribution from optical phonons is found more effective to the thermal conductivity and enhance heat transport in the thermodynamic limit n →∞.For the finite size,thermal conductivity of 1D diatomic lattice is found to be lower than 1D monoatomic chain of the same size made up of the constituent particle of the diatomic *** the present 1D diatomic chain,obtained value of power divergent exponent of thermal conductivity0.428±0.001 and diffusion exponent 1.2723 lead to the conclusions that increase in the system size,increases the thermal conductivity and existence of anomalous energy *** numerical data supports our findings.

Evaluation of Antibiotic prescribing in the pediatric Department of gabriel TouréTeaching Hospital, Bamako, Mali

Objectives: The main objective was to evaluate antibiotic prescribing in the Department of pediatrics at gabriel Touré teaching hospital. Methods: This was a prospective descriptive study conducted from September 1 to november 31, 2018, in the Department of pediatrics at gabriel Touré teaching hospital. All children aged 0 to 15 years hospitalized for any pathology during the study period and having received at least one antibiotic had been included. Results: We collected 445 children’s records out of 1032 admissions during the study period, representing a hospital frequency of 43.1%. The sex ratio was 1.3%. The 2 - 5 age group accounted for 48.1%. Fever was the reason for consultation in 45.6% of cases. patients’ general condition was altered in 60% of cases. The fathers were blue-collar workers in 65.4% and the mothers housewives in 85%, and had no education in 42.9% and 64.5% respectively. Hepatomegaly was present in 18.2%, splenomegaly in 9.6% and peripheral adenopathy in 3.1%. The site of infection was pulmonary in 37.6% and EnT in 9.2%. Bacterial infection was assumed on admission in 54% of cases, and meningitis in 57.7%. The discharge diagnosis was malaria in 54.6%, severe acute malnutrition in 18.6% and meningitis in 6.7%. The death rate was 3.8%. neutrophilic leukocytosis was present in 47.3% of patients. CRp was positive in 85% of patients. Blood cultures taken in 27.6% of patients were positive in 5. CSF analysis in 30% of patients showed elevated leukocytes in 6.5%. no cultures were positive. Antibiotic prescription was justified by infectious hypotheses in 43.1% of patients. β-lactam antibiotics were prescribed in 98.6%. Antibiotic therapy was not adapted to national/international recommendations in 68.3% of cases, and was not justified in 16.3% of cases on D5 of hospitalization. Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are attracting increasing interests as photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen production from *** paper reports on a comparative study of using either acetic acid(AA)or trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)as the representative UiO-66 organic modulators for synthesizing visible light responsive UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))photocatalysts for water *** results show that photocatalytic hydrogen generation from a water/methanol mixture can be improved by varying the nature and amount of the modulator employed to prepare the different UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))solid ***-66(Zr)-nH_(2) was the most active photocatalyst,followed by UiO-66(Zr)-nO_(2),both prepared with 12 equivalents of AA with respect to the organic *** UiO-66(Zr)-nH_(2) solid was more active than the parent MOF in photocatalytic overall water splitting(OWS)(H_(2) and O_(2) production of 450 and 160μmol·g^(-1),respectively,in 5 h;apparent quantum yield(AQY)at 400 nm of 0.06%)in the absence of methanol and compares favourably with analogous *** on the photocatalytic activity of the most active solids of both series was obtained by means of a series of techniques,including ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)diffuse reflectance,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XpS),laser flash photolysis(LFp),electron spin resonance(ESR),photoluminescence and photoelectrochemical measurements together with density functional theory(DFT)*** results showed that organic acid modulators can be used to enhance the photocatalytic activity of missing linker UiO-66 defective materials in solar-powered water splitting.

Blood pressure profile and Glycemic Control of Type 2 Diabetics and Hypertensives at the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital: A Review of 116 Cases

Objective: The association hypertension and diabetes is important. The two pathologies may influence each other. The aim was to study the correlation between glycemic control and blood pressure control and to determine the factors associated with blood pressure control. Methodology: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study with an analytical focus over 7 months. patients were recruited as outpatients and all underwent ambulatory blood pressure measure, glycated hemoglobin and creatinine measurements, and assessment of compliance with treatment. Results: During this period 116 patients were collected. The predominance was female 69%. The mean age of the patients was 62 ± 7 years with a peak between 60 and 70 years. The average age of hypertension was 12 years and that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequently associated cardiovascular risk factor was a sedentary lifestyle (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patients were not controlled at the office, with a predominance of systolic hypertension (58.2%). 61.6% of patients were controlled by ambulatory blood pressure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hypertension. Glycemic control was observed in 42.2% of cases and 87% of patients had good renal function (glomerular filter rate ≥ 60 ml/mn). Therapeutic compliance was good in 53.4% of cases and dual therapy was the most used therapeutic modality 44.8% (52 patients) followed by triple therapy. The factors associated with poor blood pressure control were glycemic imbalance, non-compliance and monotherapy. Dual therapy had a protective effect. Conclusion: The association of hypertension and type 2 diabetes is frequent. The risk of occurrence increases with age. Ambulatory blood pressure measure is the best method to assess blood pressure control. Optimization of blood pressure control should also include optimization of glycemic control.

Accidental Ingestion of nitric Acid in an Agricultural Company: A Case Study and Literature Review

Introduction: Though common in society, caustic accidental ingestion is rare in the agricultural industry. This study describes a case of ingestion of nitric acid used as an agricultural fertilizer by an ordinary worker at the Société de Cultures Légumières. Clinical Case: This is a 33-year-old unschooled woman who ingested a sip of nitric acid from an abandoned labelled acid canister near a farming plot of land. She showed a burn of the oral cavity with a bleeding tablecloth and an intense retrosternal pain. The duodenal oesophagus fibroscopy screening that was carried out 18 hours after the accident, revealed an esophagitis class 2b. The tests revealed no anomalies. Fifteen (15) days after the accident, the FOGD was normal. Following an 8-month-follow up, no signs of stenosis or degeneration were noted. Conclusion: The accidental ingestion of nitric acid is rare in adult. Its treatment is mainly symptomatic and aims at preserving vital functions without directly fighting the ingested substance off. The right actions must be integrated into the 15-minute Health and Safety awarenesssessions for optimum pre-hospital management. The hospital evaluation is mandatory and is carried out thanks to the digestive endoscopy, which is still relevant in this indication, but is completed by the thoraco-abdominal CT. The latter is very sensitive the transmural necrosis diagnosis.

Despite enormous efforts to achieve the goal of eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1, it remains a major challenge for many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Mali. Our objective is to assess changes in the rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1. We conducted a cross-sectional study between January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2018 (10 years) of early diagnosis activity in newborns and children born to HIV-1-positive mothers at the national Institute for public Health (InSp). The samples came from health and referral centers in mali. All samples were received at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the InSp. proviral DnA extraction was performed from a blood spot sample with a Roche DnA kit, Cobas Ampliprep/Cobas TaqMan HIV-1 qualitative Test, V2.0 (Roche Molecular System, Inc, USA) following the company procedures. Molecular diagnosis was performed using the same kits using an algorithm of three identical pCRs. The Epi Info version 7 software was used for data analysis with a significance threshold of 5%. A total of 10,714 samples of infants and children born to HIV-positive mothers were analyzed by pCR. ninety-six percent of mothers were on ARV prophylaxis (AZT 3TC nVp and AZT nVp) and 60% of newborns received the same ARV prophylaxis. Of these children, 956 tested positive with an overall transmission rate of 8.92%, varying between 7.27% in 2009 and 08.01% in 2018. This rate was relatively low among children receiving prophylaxis at 2.04% and remained high for children who received breastfeeding at 5.62%. However, the transmission rate remains low for those who have benefited from mixed and artificial breastfeeding at 1.58% and 1.27% respectively. A significant proportion of children remained infected by their mothers during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. This study shows the importance of early diagnosis of HIV in children using molecular technology.

This paper focuses on wireless-powered communication systems,which are increasingly relevant in the Internet of Things(IoT)due to their ability to extend the operational lifetime of devices with limited *** main contribution of the paper is a novel approach to minimize the secrecy outage probability(SOp)in these *** SOp is crucial for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of data,especially in situations where the transmission of sensitive data is *** proposed method harnesses the power of an improved biogeography-based optimization(IBBO)to effectively train a recurrent neural network(Rnn).The proposed IBBO introduces an innovative migration *** core advantage of IBBO lies in its adeptness at maintaining equilibrium between exploration and *** is accomplished by integrating tactics such as advancing towards a random habitat,adopting the crossover operator from genetic algorithms(ga),and utilizing the global best(Gbest)operator from particle swarm optimization(pSO)into the IBBO *** IBBO demonstrates its efficacy by enabling the Rnn to optimize the system parameters,resulting in significant outage probability *** comprehensive simulations,we showcase the superiority of the IBBO-Rnn over existing approaches,highlighting its capability to achieve remarkable gains in SOp *** paper compares nine methods for predicting outage probability in wireless-powered *** IBBO-Rnn achieved the highest accuracy rate of 98.92%,showing a significant performance *** contrast,the standard Rnn recorded lower accuracy rates of 91.27%.The IBBO-Rnn maintains lower SOp values across the entire signal-to-noise ratio(SnR)spectrum tested,suggesting that the method is highly effective at optimizing system parameters for improved secrecy even at lower SnRs.

Assessing soil quality is essential for crop management and soil temporal changes. The present study aims to evaluate soil quality in the Ferralitic soils context countrywide. This assessment was done using multivariate soil quality indice (SQI) models, such as additive quality index (AQI), weighted quality indexes (WQIadd and WQIcom) and nemoro quality index (nQI), applied to two approaches of indicator selection: total data set (TDS) and minimum data set (MDS). physical and chemical soil indicators were extracted from the ORSTOM’s reports resulting from a sampling campaign in different provinces of gabon. The TDS approach shows soil quality status according to eleven soil indicators extracted from the analysis of 1,059 samples from arable soil layer (0 - 30 cm depth). The results indicated that 87% of all provinces presented a very low soil quality (Q5) whatever the model. Among soil indicators, exchangeable Kp>+p> and Mgp>2+p>, bulk density and C/n ratio were retained in MDS, using principal component analysis (pCA). In the MDS approach, 50 to 63% of provinces had low soil quality grades with AQI, WQIadd and nQI, whereas the total was observed with WQIcom. Only 25% of provinces had medium soil quality grades with AQI and nQI models, while 12.5% (nQI) and 25% (AQI) presented high quality grades. Robust statistical analyses confirmed the accuracy and validation (0.80 r p ≤ 0.016) of AQI, WQIadd and nQI into the TDS and MDS approaches. The same sensitivity index value (1.53) was obtained with AQI and WQIadd. However, WQIadd was chosen as the best SQI model, according to its high linear regression value (Rp>2p> = 0.82) between TDS and MDS. This study has important implications in decision-making on monitoring, evaluation and sustainable management of gabonese soils in a pedoclimatic context unfavorable to plant growth.
