With the advent of non-thermal plasma technique for diesel exhaust treatment attention is being focused on reducing oxides of nitrogen(NO_(x))both from stationary as well as automobile *** this work,an attempt has been made to enhance NO_(x) reduction only by utilising a plasma/ozone injection approach without resorting to additional treatments based on catalysts/*** was observed that cascading ozone injection with discharge plasma enhances the reduction of NO_(x) as high as 95%for the specific energy of 123 J/*** the long run,this plasma-only based approach may be beneficial or a possible alternative for catalyst/adsorbent based NO_(x) *** results have been discussed and a comparative analysis has been made with respect to individual plasma and ozone injection treatment.

The effect of addition of poly（ethylene glycol）-400 （pEG-400） and carbon （0, 1, 2 and 3 wt%） as substrates were investigated systematically to get the desired phase of carbon-doped MoO3 material. The carbon source was prepared from the Acacia arabica plant wood. The resulting samples were calcined at 500 ℃. The effect of pEG-400 and carbon composite on the structure, particle size and morphology were investigated. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS and FT-IR techniques. The samples with pEG-400 and carbon ad- dition give better control of particle size and porosity. The prepared catalysts were tested for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidones via the Biginelli-type condensation reaction. This new method consistently has the advan- tage of excellent yields （88%--93%） and short reaction times （1.5--3 h） than do classical Biginelli reaction conditions.

Nowadays,the intensity of air pollution,due to the industries and automobiles,has been increasing *** oxides(NO_(X))are one of the most harmful pollutants,which are getting released from both automobile and stationary diesel *** essentially need to be removed from the exhaust using after treatment ***,the energy required to remove these pollutants is one of the major considerations in selecting the technology for pollutant removal from diesel engine exhaust.A study has been carried out on the non-thermal plasma-based NO_(X) removal technique using various combinations of power supply units and electrode *** different electrode configurations are tested,in which two are cylindrical electrodes with diameters 3 and 5 mm,and the other one is a square electrode with a diagonal of 5 mm.A comparison is made between the results with two different pulse power supply units,pS-I:high-voltage direct current test set based and pS-II:DC–DC converter *** square electrode with pS-Ⅱhas been found to be the optimal combination,which has removed 85%of NO_(X) from the exhaust at an energy density of 55.5 J/L,when the initial NO_(X) concentration in the exhaust is 388 ppm.

We report on a cross-sectional high resolution transmission electron microscope study of lead sulfide nanocrystal quantum dots （NCQDs） dispersed on electron-transparent silicon nanopillars that enables nearly atomically-resolved simultaneous imaging of the entire composite： the quantum dot, the interfacial region, and the silicon substrate. Considerable richness in the nanocrystal shape and orientation with respect to the substrate lattice is observed. The average NCQD-substrate separation is found to be significantly smaller than the length of the ligands on the NCQDs. Complementary photoluminescence measurements show that light emission from pbS NCQDs on silicon is effectively quenched which we attribute to intrinsic mechanisms of energy and charge transfer from pbS NCQDs to Si.

Objective:In the Ayurvedic system of medicine,body constitution(prakruthi) is said to play a vital role in the disease process as well as in its *** radical toxicity is also involved in the etiopathogenesis of many ***,in the present study an attempt has been made to correlate the body constitution type and the antioxidant status of that ***:Healthy volunteers from Manipal University Campus, South Karnataka,India were classified into three main human constitutions(prakruthi) and their possible combinations and their serum total antioxidant activity was ***:There was a significant negative correlation of the total antioxidant status with the pitta prakruthi whereas vata and kapha constitutions showed no significant correlation with the total antioxidant ***:Ayurveda classifies each individual based on his/her prakruthi into three categories of Doshas:Vata,pitta and Kapha(collectively known as Tridoshas ). The three Doshas are fundamental regulatory principles responsible for maintaining organism functioning and manifesting those characteristics typifying each individual,that is,in equilibrium Tridoshas signify health and an imbalance leads to ***,in this study a significantly decreased antioxidant status in the pitta group would render them more susceptible to damage by oxidative ***,we suggest that supplementation with antioxidants of herbal(Ayurvedic) origin to such a group would prove to be beneficial - opening up the arena for pharmacogenomics and customized antioxidant drug administration based on the prakruthi of an individual.

A MoO3-TiO2 nanocrystalline composite material was prepared by a simple solgel *** synthesized material was charac-terized by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy with an electron dispersion spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy,and Fourier transform infrared *** is a dark brown pigment found in wastewater from the sugar industry and it pollutes *** polluted water is generally referred to as molasses and it undergoes fermentation and is solely responsible for water,soil,and air *** synthesized catalytic material was found to be effective in degrading molasses under UV-visible *** of treated and untreated molasses was carried out by measuring its color,chemical oxygen demand,biological oxygen demand,pH,and total dissolved *** from these analyses indicate the effective photodegradation of the *** methodology has several advantages such as high photocatalytic activity,non-toxicity,cleanliness,and reusability of the catalytic material.

Diabetes mellitus is a combined metabolic disorder which includes hyperglycemia,dyslipidemia,stroke and several other *** groups all over the world are relentlessly working out the possible role of a vast number of genes associated with type 2 diabetes(T2DM).Inflammation is an important outcome of any kind of imbalance in the body and is therefore an indicator of several diseases,including *** ethnic populations around the world show different levels of variations in single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNps).The present review was undertaken to explore the association of cytokine gene polymorphisms with T2DM in populations of different *** will lead to the understanding of the role of cytokine genes in T2DM risk and *** studies of genotypes of SNps present in cytokine genes will help to identify risk haplotype(s)for disease susceptibility by developing prognostic markers and alter treatment strategies for T2DM and related *** will enable individuals at risk to take prior precautionary measures and avoid or delay the onset of the *** challenges will be to understand the genotypic interactions between SNps in one cytokine gene or several genes at different loci and study their association with T2DM.
