Introduction: peanut pastes are food products resulting from artisanal or industrial processing, used in cooking in Africa in general and in Central African Republic in particular. These peanut pastes are often contaminated by molds and filamentous fungi involved in the degradation of hygienic and organoleptic or even toxicological quality. This study aims to determine the epidemiological profile of molds contaminating peanut pastes sold on the Central African market. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study carried out from June to September 2023. Samples of peanut pastes sold on Central African market were taken and analyzed at the National Laboratory of Clinical Biology and public Health using the conventional microbiology method according to ISO 7954 standards. The data obtained were collected in the ODK 2023.3.1 application and analyzed with the Epi Info 7 software. A multivariate analysis by logistic regression, Ficher’s exact test, and chip>2p> at the 5% threshold (p penicillium sp.;11.25% of Mucor sp.;10.63% of Aspergillus terrei;3.13% of Aspergillus niger;1.25% of Aspergillus medullans;28.13% of Aspergillus flavus;2.50% of Aspergillus fumigatus. peanut pastes stored beyond three days were more contaminated (94.19%). Conclusion: The results of this study made it possible to highlight strains of mold that impact the hygienic and organoleptic quality of peanut pastes sold at the Central African market. Most of the isolated strains were the Aspergillus flavus species which is recognized by its toxigenic effects. This species is much more incriminated in the contamination of foodstuffs with the production of the toxin which causes underlying pulmonary pathologies in humans.

Efficacy of a Single Oral Administration of Afoxolaner Alone or in Combination with Milbemycin Oxime against <i>Ixodes hexagonus</i>Ticks in Dogs

The efficacy of afoxolaner (NexGard? and NexGard Spectra?, Boehringer-Ingelheim), administered once orally at the minimum recommended dose, was assessed in dogs experimentally infested with Ixodes hexagonus ticks. The study was a blinded, negative controlled clinical efficacy study using a randomized block design. Twenty-four Beagle dogs, 12 females and 12 males were enrolled. Dogs were randomly allocated either to the negative control group, or to one of the two treated groups. Infestations were performed with 50 adult I. hexagonus ticks on Days-2, 7 and 28. On Day 0, dogs in groups 2 and 3 were treated with NexGard? (afoxolaner) or NexGard Spectra? (afoxolaner + milbemycin oxime), respectively. Tick counts were conducted 48 hours after treatment (Day 2) and 48 hours after each subsequent infestation (Days 9 and 30). In both treated groups, afoxolaner was 100% effective against existing infestations (p ? and NexGard Spectra? respectively. NexGard? and NexGard Spectra? chewable tablets administered once orally at the minimum recommended dose were highly effective against I. hexagonus infestations for the 4 weeks duration of the study.

The objective of the study was to compare the efficacy of one topical insecticide-acaricide (Frontline Tri-Act?) and of one collar (Seresto?) against fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) on dogs exposed to bi-weekly water showering. Twenty four (24) dogs were enrolled in the study. A first set of 16 dogs were acclimatised to their cages from Day 1 to 7 and a second set of 8 dogs from Day 163 to Day 169. The 24 dogs were randomly allocated to three groups (1 to 3). Dogs assigned to Group 1 were not treated and served as negative controls. Dogs assigned to Group 2 received the Seresto? collar on Day 0 and dogs in Group 3 received Frontline Tri-Act? on Days 170 and 198. The dogs were observed hourly for four hours after treatment administration for possible adverse reactions. Dogs in Groups 1 and 2 underwent water showering on Days 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 143 and 157. Dogs in all groups underwent water showering on Days 173, 185, 199 and 213. Dogs were infested with approximately 100 (±4) adult, unfed C. felis fleas only on Days 177, 190, 203, and 217, in alternance with infestations with 50 adult unfed R. sanguineus on Days 182, 196, 210, and 224, to assess sustained efficacy. Fleas and ticks were removed and counted on 24 and 48 hours ± 2 hours after each infestation, respectively. Frontline Tri-Act? was >99% effective against C. felis following an initial and a second monthly administration on dogs that were water showered bi-weekly. The Seresto? collar was from 68.3% to 92.9% effective against C. felis Days 178 to 218 after collar administration. Frontline Tri-Act? was effective from 87.8% to 100% against ticks whereas Seresto collar was effective from 82.2% to 94.2% from Day 184 to Day 226.

Identification and Characterization of Risk Factors Linked to the Bacteriological Contamination of Street Foods: Case of porridge Made from Rice Sold in the City of Bangui, Central African Republic

Traditional ready-to-eat food products are topical in Central African Republic They are sold in most cases on the roadside and present a variety of productions including the porridge made from cereal derivatives (peanut and Rice), commonly called “potato” These foods are sold under precarious hygienic conditions, which constitute a major public health risk for consumers, especially children under five and vulnerable people. It is in this context that a study was carried out in eight districts of the city of Bangui on porridge made from rice and peanuts in order to assess the levels and risks of contamination of these foods. The results obtained showed that this activity is performed most often by women between the ages of 20 and 29. Of these, 17.85% have never been to school;44.64% have a level of primary school. The results of the microbiological analysis carried out revealed a strong proliferation of germs indicators of faecal contamination, hygiene indicators in different points of sale, the average content of the contamination of aerobic mesophilic flora, fecal coliforms, total coliforms and Staphylococcus aureus are respectively 4.33 × 10p>3p>, 1.845 × 10p>3p> and 1.508 × 10p>3 p>CFU. No presence of Salmonella and Shigella was observed. The various stages of porridge production until sale requires the application of hygiene rules in order to avoid intoxication and toxi-infection of consumers.

Hypothyroidism is a well recognized complication of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome . Auto-immune hypert hyroi dismis less common. We report three patients with a 22q11.2 deletion and Graves’disease diagnosed at age 17, 14 and 11 years, resp ectively. The clinical and biological presentation was typical for auto-immune hyperthyroidism. Graves’disease should be periodically sought during the follow-up program of patients with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome.

我们描述了一种适用于颗粒物浓度通常小于0.1mg/L左右的深海水域、廉价但高灵敏度的光学后向散射传感器(LBSS)的性能。使用硅铝酸盐颗粒和乳胶球的实验室校准表明,对于直径接近发射光的波长(0.88μm),LBSS浓度归一化后的后向散射量Kbs最大,而对于小于0.1μm或大于10μm的颗粒物,后向散射量则下降超过5倍。现场研究表明,在以细粒金属沉淀物为主的热液羽状流中,用LBSS预测物质浓度,在95%的置信区间里,浓度为0.03mg/L的悬浮液,其测量偏差值为±0.004mg/L;浓度为0.12mg/L的悬浮液,其测量偏差值为±0.008mg/L。在仪器可变性达到70%的一组19个LBSS之间进行比较,使用实验室校准程序对原始数据进行标准化,将最大变化降低到8%。
