Gastric and small intestinal lipid digestion kinetics as affected by the gradual addition of lipases and bile salts

We studied the effect of evolving from static in vitro digestion conditions towards the gradual addition of essential digestive compounds for lipid *** oil-in-water emulsions were considered:a low(5%w/w)and high(20%w/w)triolein-based emulsion with identical surfactant-to-oil ratio(0.2).Emulsions were subjected to in vitro static digestion conditions or gradual gastric lipase addition,gradual pancreatic lipase addition,and/or gradual bile salt *** these three latter cases,similar amounts of gastric/pancreatic lipase and/or bile salts were provided as in the static case,however divided over 4 doses added during the first 30 min of each digestive *** the low-lipid emulsion,gradually adding lipases and bile salts did not significantly affect lipolysis *** can be related to the sufficient amounts of digestive compounds present even in the smallest initial *** the high-lipid emulsion,the gradual addition of bile salts significantly reduced the lipolysis *** salts are essential to remove lipid digestion products from the interface and thus allow the continuation of the lipid digestion process at the ***,the lipolysis extent after 2 h of small intestinal phase was not significantly influenced by the digestion *** is again explained by the simple nature of the emulsions studied and the excess of lipase even in the smallest initial ***,this work showed that evolving towards more(semi-)dynamic digestion conditions can impact(lipid)digestion kinetics,even for relatively simple food compositions,and is of interest to obtain more physiological relevant digestion kinetics.

Background The present experiment aimed to evaluate the effects of commercially processed former foodstuffs(cFF)as dietary substitutes of corn,soybean meal and soybean oil on the growth performance,apparent total tract digestibil-ity(ATTD),hematobiochemical profiles,and liver gene abundance in broiler *** hundred one-day-old male ROSS-308 chicks were assigned to 4 dietary groups(5 replicates of ten birds per replicate)according to their average body weight(BW,38.0±0.11 g).All groups received a two-phase feeding program:starter,d 1–12 and grower,d 12–*** control group(cFF0)was fed a standard commercial feed based on corn,soybean meal and soybean *** other three groups received diets in which the feed based on corn,soybean meal,and soybean oil was partially replaced with cFF at a substitution level of 6.25%(cFF6.25),12.5%(cFF12.5)or 25%(cFF25)for the following 33 *** The growth performance data showed no differences in BW or average daily gain among groups,although the average daily feed intake decreased during the grower period(12–33 d)and over entire experimental period(1–33 d)in a linear manner as the cFF inclusion level rose(p=0.026),positively affecting the gain to feed ratio(p=0.001).The ATTD of dry matter of the cFF-fed groups were greater with respect to control group and increased throughout the experimental period,whereas the ATTD of ether extract linearly decreased with increasing levels of cFF-fed groups compared with control group and throughout the experimental period(pphil to lymphocyte ratio,serum cholesterol,triglycerides and alanine-aminotransferase were observed with increasing dietary levels of cFF(ppoprotein lipase or sterol regulatory element binding transcription factor gene *** The results of this experiment demonstrate that it is possible to incorporate cFF into nutritionally balanced diets for broiler ch

Objective: We describe patients with MCS, the evolution of the Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory (QEESI) score with a special focus on people whose fillings were removed. Methods: We have conducted a retrospective longitudinal cohort study in patients diagnosed with MCS and attended in the outpatient Internal Medicine department of the University Hospital of San Juan de Alicante, from January 1, 2008 to January 1, 2021. Sociodemographic, clinical, QEESI and treatment-related variables were collected. We performed descriptive and inferential analyses. Mixed linear models were used to analyze the QEESI. Calculations were carried out with an α error of 5%. Results: Thirty-three patients were included (72.7% women, mean age 56.2). MCS was mainly triggered by mercury (N = 20) and food intolerance (N = 22). The mean interval from symptoms onset was 120 months (SD 81.6). 114 QEESIs were analyzed: 82 (N = 17 without amalgams) and 32 (N = 16 with amalgams). In patients without amalgams, severity scores increased across all subscales except the masking index (vs. with amalgams). Mean scores for the group without amalgams (vs. with amalgams) were: chemical intolerance, 62.8 points (vs. 63.4 and 46.7);other intolerances, 52.7 points (vs. 62.8 and 50.3);symptom severity, 63.2 (vs. 76.7 and 63.3);masking index, 3.9 (vs. 3.2 and 2.8);and life impacts, 63.1 (vs. 58.4 and 49.8). Conclusion: The profile of patient with MCS is a middle-aged woman who is a frequent user of healthcare services, presents a long diagnostic delay and has borne a great personal, work and socioeconomic impact. The QEESI is useful for the clinical follow-up of patients, including the optimal treatment response in the case of amalgams. Clinical Significance: people affected by Multiple Chemical Sensitivity deserve the attention, understanding and help of health professionals and family members, to face an invisible illness for those who do not suffer from it. CO oxidation under lean and stoichiometric conditions over ceriazirconia with very low metal contents(Cu,Co,Ag and pt)

In this work,several ceria-zirconia based catalysts with very lo w(and equimolar) metal contents were prepared,characterised and tested for the CO oxidatio n reaction(under lean and stoichiometric conditions),trying to emulate those conditions found in a diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) system from a diesel engine and those encountered under gasoline exhaust(λ=1).The metals chosen are Cu,Co,Ag and pt(as a reliable benchmark).The results reveal enormous differences among reducibility and catalytic activity despite quite similar structural and textural properties of the catalysts,showing differences among dispersion(Ag-catalyst seems to present a low level of dispersion).This catalyst seems to be characterised,as well,by a strong electronic interaction between Ce and Ag centres which is suggested to yield an improved reducibility under H_(2)-TpR ***,the order in catalytic activity(Cu>Ag>Co≈pt>>support) seems not to follow the order found in reducibility and the Cu-catalyst seems to be the most active independently on the reaction conditions,yielding nearly overlapped CO oxidation catalytic *** restingly,a stro ng correlation between the catalytic activity under the two conditions tested and the OSC values of the Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2)-supported metal catalysts is ***,OSC parameter measured at 150℃ can be used as a relevant descriptor to evaluate the CO oxidation activity at low and medium conversions for the investigated catalysts,much better than the H_(2)-TpR measurements.

Anisotropic stellar structure equations for magnetized strange stars

The fact that a fermion system in an external magnetic field breaks the spherical symmetry suggests that its intrinsic geometry is axisymmetric rather than spherical. In this work we analyze the impact of anisotropic pressures, due to the presence of a magnetic field, in the structure equations of a magnetized quark *** assume a cylindrical metric and an anisotropic energy momentum tensor for the source. We found that there is a maximum magnetic field that a strange star can sustain, closely related to the violation of the virial relations.

Maximum mass of magnetic white dwarfs

We revisit the problem of the maximum masses of magnetized white dwarfs （WDs）. The impact of a strong magnetic field on the structure equations is addressed. The pressures become anisotropic due to the presence of the magnetic field and split into parallel and perpendicular components. We first construct stable solutions of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations for parallel pressures and find that physical solutions vanish for the perpendicular pressure whenB ≥ 10^13 G. This fact estab- lishes an upper bound for a magnetic field and the stability of the configurations in the （quasi） spherical approximation. Our findings also indicate that it is not possible to obtain stable magnetized WDs with super-Chandrasekhar masses because the val- ues of the magnetic field needed for them are higher than this bound. To proceed into the anisotropic regime, we can apply results for structure equations appropriate for a cylindrical metric with anisotropic pressures that were derived in our previous work. From the solutions of the structure equations in cylindrical symmetry we have con- firmed the same bound for B- 10^13 G, since beyond this value no physical solutions are possible. Our tentative conclusion is that massive WDs with masses well beyond the Chandrasekhar limit do not constitute stable solutions and should not exist.

In this talk,I discuss our recent studies of three-hadron systems and the resonances found *** studies consist of solving Faddeev equations with the input two body interactions obtained from the chiral *** systems which we study are either made of two mesons and a baryon or of three *** motivation for these studies comes from the data on many baryon resonances,especially the ones with J ^π = 1/2 ^＋,which show a large branching ratio to the two meson-one baryon decay *** addition to this,several new studies at BES,BELLE,BABAR etc.,claim the existence of new meson resonances which seem to couple strongly to three-meson systems,where mostly two out of the three mesons appear as a known ***,we have studied two meson-one baryon systems with strangeness =-1,0 and 1 and three-meson systems made of two-pseudoscalars and a vector *** we will show in this manuscript,we find many resonances which couple to three-hadrons.
