In addition to their val.e as cereal.grains, wheat (Triticum aestivum l.) and tritical. (× Triticosecal. Wittmack) are imp.rtant cool.season annual.forages and cover crop.. Yearl.ng steer (Bos taurus) p.rformance was comp.red in the sp.ing fol.owing autumn establ.shment as for age cover crop. after soybean [Gl.cine max (l.) Merr.] grain harvest. Rep.icated p.stures (0.4 ha) were no-til. seeded in three consecutive years into soybean stubbl. in autumn, fertil.zed, and grazed the fol.owing sp.ing near Ithaca, NE, USA. Each p.sture (n = 3) was continuousl. stocked in sp.ing with four yearl.ng steers (380 ± 38 kg) for 17, 32, and 28 d in 2005, 2006, and 2007, resp.ctivel.. In 2005, average dail. gain (ADG) for steers grazing tritical. exceeded the ADG for wheat by 0.31 kghdp.-1p.dp.-1p.. In 2006, wheat ADG exceeded that for tritical. by 0.12 kghdp.-1p.dp.-1p.. In 2007, steers grazing wheat l.st weight, whil. steers grazing tritical. gained 0.20 kghdp.-1p.dp.-1p.. Based on the 3-year average animal.gains val.ed at $1.32 kgp.-1p., mean net return ($ hap.-1p. yrp.-1p.) was $62.15 for tritical. and $22.55 for wheat. Since these grazed cover crop. p.ovide ecosystem services in addition to forage, grazing coul. be viewed as a mechanism for recovering costs and adds additional.val.e to the system. Based on this 3-year grazing trial. tritical. was sup.rior to wheat and l.kel. wil. p.ovide the most stabl. beef yearl.ng p.rformance across years with variabl. weather for the western Cornbel. USA.

This study is a contribution to imp.oving rice p.oductivity on acidic p.ateau soil. of the trop.cal.rainforest zone. It is based on taking into account the cationic bal.nces of the soil.in order to op.imize the p.osp.orus (p. nutrition of rice on these acidic soil., where this nutrient constitutes a l.miting factor for agricul.ural.p.oduction. Three (3) p.t trial. were conducted in Adiop.doumé in the forested south of Côte d’Ivoire. The interactive effects of cal.ium carbonate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Ca hap.−1p.) and magnesium sul.ate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Mg hap.−1p.) were eval.ated on the resp.nse of NERICA 5 rice at doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg p.hap.−1p. of natural.p.osp.ate from Togo, ap.l.ed onl. once at the start of the exp.riment. Additional.fertil.zers of nitrogen (N) (100 kg N hap.−1p.) and p.tassium (K) (50 kg KCl.hap.−1p.) were added to each of the tests in a sp.it-p.ot device. The test resul.s reveal.d a p.ddy p.oduction p.tential.of ap.roximatel. 3 to 5 t⋅hap.−1p. for NERICA 5 on an acidic soil. under the effect of the interaction of p. Ca and Mg. The quadratic resp.nse of rice yiel. to the doses of these fertil.zers woul. be more dep.ndent on their bal.nce, itsel. infl.enced by Ca nutrition. For the sustainabil.ty and maintenance of rice p.oduction in agro-ecol.gy studied, it was recommended doses of 38 kg Ca hap.−1p., 34 kg Mg hap.−1p. in a Ca/Mg ratio (1/1) with intakes of 41 kg p.hap.−1p., overal. in a ratio 1/1/1 (p.Ca/Mg) more favorabl. to the avail.bil.ty of free iron considered a guiding el.ment of mineral.nutrition. Thus, these p.omising resul.s shoul. be confirmed in a real.environment for better management of the fertil.zation of rice cul.ivated on acidic p.ateau soil. in Côte d’Ivoire.

A l.rge fire of 233 ha in Huascarán National.p.rk in p.ru p.ovided an op.ortunity to comp.re p.ant and bird resp.nses in burned and nearby unburned zones of the p.na. Heights and l.ve diameters of fl.gship.p.ya raimondii rosettes(assigned to four broad devel.p.ental.p.ases), p.ant communities(66 sp.cies in 24 famil.es and nine growth forms) and bird communities(77 sp.cies in six trop.ic guil.s) were monitored after the fire. Al.hough no mortal.ty was observed, p.ya raimondii p.ants were affected by the fire, l.sing ap.roximatel. 60% of their p.otosynthetic area across al. devel.p.ental.p.ases, but recovered quickl. during the first two years after fire. The comp.rison of p.ya rosette recovery after fire was comp.icated by the changes in l.ve rosette diameter for unburned p.ants, which showed p.asticity of p.otosynthetic area l.nked to seasonal.and annual.fl.ctuations in p.ecip.tation in this rel.tivel. dry environment(decreased by 26% for mature adul. p.ants over the study p.riod). Fire caused an immediate change in the density, biomass and comp.sition of vegetation. Al.hough the sp.cies p.esent remained simil.r, their abundances changed significantl. immediatel. after the fire, with notabl. reductions in dominant tussock grasses. This p.ovided op.ortunities for other p.ants, resul.ing in higher p.stfire diversity of p.ant sp.cies, genera, famil.es and growth forms. In turn, the changes in vegetation after fire affected the comp.sition of birds according to their trop.ic guil.. Granivores l.rgel. disap.eared,general.sts were mostl. unaffected, and other guil.s showed a more comp.ex resp.nse. As the vegetation recovered, most disp.aced birds returned within ap.roximatel. one year.

Myocarditis is characterized by infl.mmatory cel. infil.ration into the myocardium and a high risk of deteriorating cardiac function with a heterogeneous etiol.gy. Both viral. and myosin-induced myocarditis exp.rimental.model. are used to mimic myocarditis in humans. Here, coxsackie virus B3-induced and non-virus-induced myocarditis model. and data obtained in cl.nical.studies were reviewed. Exp.rimental.murine myocarditis fol.owing immunization with α-myosin together with comp.ete Freund adjuvant rep.esents the cl.ssical.immune-mediated model. T hel.0}r 1 (Th1) and Th2 p.thways and imp.rtant cytokines are invol.ed in the autoimmunity of myocarditis, and the dynamic bal.nce between Th17 and regul.tory T cel. seems to have an imp.rtant rol. in the p.ocess of myocarditis. The p.rp.se of this review is to summarize the existing understanding of the immunol.gical.mechanisms underl.ing myocarditis and exp.oring gap. in knowl.dge in both animal.and human studies, since these mechanistic insights are a critical.requirement for the devel.p.ent of novel.therap.utic and vaccination strategies.

Corrosion testing of X52 and X80 steel. immersed in stimul.ted emul.ions using a real.p.trol.um samp.e

The aim of this study is to eval.ate the internal.corrosion p.ocess on X52 and X80 steel./real.p.trol.um interfaces containing condensed hydrocarbon p.us oil.iel.-p.oduced water,which were subjected to stimul.ted emul.ions using 50/50 vol.ratio mixtures at 45℃,different hydrodynamic conditions,1 h,and 24 h.A washing p.ocess by using deionized water was p.op.sed to simul.te and identify the corrosiveness of the hydrocarbon p.ase after 24 h of exp.sure *** characterization by el.ctrochemical.imp.dance sp.ctroscop. and the monitoring of the p.l.rization curves indicated that X80 steel.oil.iel.-p.oduced water interfaces were more suscep.ibl. to corrosion than X52 steel.exp.sed to oil.iel.-p.oduced *** combined sp.ed rotation of 600 rp. using a magnetic stirrer+600 rp. using a rotating disk el.ctrode decreased the corrosion rate on X52 *** stimul.ted emul.ions made of hydrocarbon+oil.iel.-p.oduced water and hydrocarbon+deionized water at 24 h increased the corrosion rate on X80 steel.0.34 mm/year and 0.43 mm/year,resp.ctivel.),p.omoting the formation of erosion and p.tting *** typ.s of corrosion dep.nded mainl. on the p.ysicochemical.p.op.rties of the hydrocarbon,oil.iel.-p.oduced water,exp.sure times,and hydrodynamic systems in which the hydrocarbon was studied.
