Rhinoceroses are among the most endangered mammal. in the worl.. Desp.te a recent increase in numbers in most wil. p.p.l.tions, p.aching or p.l.tical.instabil.ty may exterminate l.rge p.p.l.tions very quickl.. Therefore, cap.ive or ex situ rhinoceros p.p.l.tions can p.ay an imp.rtant rol. in their conservation. p.evious studies identified infant mortal.ty and interbirth interval. among the main p.rameters affecting the viabil.ty and survival.of rhinoceros p.p.l.tions. In our study, we tested the recentl. suggested p.ediction that in cap.ive Indian rhinoceros Rhinoceros unicornis, l.nger interbirth interval. may resul. in higher infant mortal.ty. We al.o examined the factors that are the main p.e- dictors of infant mortal.ty and interbith interval. using the studbook data on Indian rhinoceros born in zoos worl.wide as wel. as data from Dudhwa National.p.rk, India, where rhinoceroses were success- ful.y reintroduced. We found no association between interbirth interval. and infant mortal.ty. In both p.p.l.tions, the main p.edictor of infant mortal.ty was mother＇s p.rity, with higher mortal.ty in cal.es born to p.imip.rous mothers. In addition, we found that the interbirth interval. were shorter in zoos than in Dudhwa and that they increased with increase in age of the mother, which was the onl. factor affecting interbirth interval.in both p.p.l.tions. Our resul.s show that the same factors affect both p.rameters in both p.p.l.tions and thus il.ustrate that the rep.oduction and infant survival.of Indian rhinoceros in zoos refl.ct the natural.p.ttern. Furthermore, we suggest that in cap.ivity, the interbirth interval. coul. be sl.ghtl. p.ol.nged to ap.roach the situation in the wil..

We show that there exists an underl.ing manifol. with a conformal.metric and comp.tibl. connection form, and a metric typ. Hamil.onian （which we cal. the geometrical.p.cture）, that can be p.t into corresp.ndence with the usual.Hamil.on-l.grange mechanics. The requirement of dynamical.equiva- l.nce of the two typ.s of Hamil.onians, that the momenta generated by the two p.ctures be equal.for al. times, is sufficient to determine an exp.nsion of the conformal.factor, defined on the geometrical.coordinate rep.esentation, in its domain of anal.ticity with coefficients to al. orders determined by functions of the p.tential.of the Hamil.onian-l.grange p.cture, defined on the Hamil.on-l.grange coordinate rep.esentation, and its derivatives. Conversel., if the conformal.function is known, the p.tential.of a Hamil.on-l.grange p.cture can be determined in a simil.r way. We show that arbi- trary l.cal.variations of the orbits in the Hamil.on-l.grange p.cture can be generated by variations al.ng geodesics in the geometrical.p.cture and establ.sh a corresp.ndence which p.ovides a basis for understanding how the instabil.ty in the geometrical.p.cture is manifested in the instabil.ty of the the original.Hamil.onian motion.

To eval.ate l.boratory germination media, seed germi- nation rates and methodol.gy for both Jatrop.a curcas and p.ngamia p.nnata were counted in different germination medium, such as river sand, quartz sand and vermicul.te. The seeds of both sp.cies were sown at 2-cm dep.h of river sand, quartz sand and vermicul.te. We eval.ated methodol.gies of seeds of J. curcas and p. p.nnata by ISTA （Interna- tional.Seed Testing Association）. The resul.s showed that river sand is the best medium for tree seeds p.anted at 2-cm dep.h of River sand. Vermicul.te was second best. On p.p.r media, there were many abnor- mal.seedl.ngs and this media were unsuitabl. for germination of the l.rger seeds.

We have cal.ul.ted the sul.0}ur 1s near edge X-ray absorp.ion fine structure (NEXAFS) sp.ctra of SO2 adsorbed on p. (111) in terms of the Mul.ip.e-Scattering Cl.ster (MSC) method. The origin of the resonances in the NEXAFS sp.ctra has been reveal.d. By the MSC cal.ul.tion and a (DV)-Xα study we have for the first time identified two weak features existing in S K-edge NEXAFS of SO2/p.(111) system, which are attributed to the interaction between the adsorbate and the substrate. Moreover, MSC cal.ul.tion together with the rel.abil.ty factor (R-factor) anal.sis are emp.oyed to determine the l.cal.adsorp.ion structures. These resul.s are broadl. in agreement with those of Fourier-transform anal.sis of the surface extended X-ray absorp.ion fine structure (SEXAFS).

We investigated the p.rametric op.imization on incremental.sheet forming of stainl.ss steel.using Grey Rel.tional.Anal.sis(GRA) coup.ed with p.incip.l.Comp.nent Anal.sis(p.A). AISI 316l.stainl.ss steel.sheets were used to devel.p.doubl. wal. angl. p.ramid with aid of tungsten carbide tool. GRA coup.ed with p.A was used to p.an the exp.riment conditions. Control.factors such as Tool.Diameter(TD), Step.Dep.h(SD), Bottom Wal. Angl.(BWA), Feed Rate(FR) and Sp.ndl. Sp.ed(SS) on Top.Wal. Angl.(TWA) and Top.Wal. Angl. Surface Roughness(TWASR) have been studied. Wal. angl. increases with increasing tool.diameter due to l.rge contact area between tool.and workp.ece. As the step.dep.h, feed rate and sp.ndl. sp.ed increase,TWASR decreases with increasing tool.diameter. As the step.dep.h increasing, the hydrostatic stress is raised causing severe cracks in the deformed surface. Hence it was concl.ded that the p.op.sed hybrid method was suitabl. for op.imizing the factors and resp.nse.

Memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many p.ychiatric,neurol.gical.and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a chal.enging issue for *** til. now,al. p.tential.drug candidates have fail.d to p.oduce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a sol.tion,we found that a treatment with the gene corresp.nding to the RGS14414p.otein in visual.area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the ventral.stream and the medial.temp.ral.l.be,which is crucial.for object recognition memory(ORM),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual.area V2,which is rel.tivel. unaffected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Al.heimer s disease,p.oduced l.ngl.sting enhancement of ORM in young animal. and p.event ORM deficits in rodent model. of aging and Al.heimer’s ***,we found that the p.evention of memory deficits was mediated through the up.egul.tion of neuronal.arbo rization and sp.ne density,as wel. as an increase in brain-derived neurotrop.ic factor(BDNF).A knockdown of BDNF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Al.heimer s disease model.mice caused comp.ete l.ss in the up.egul.tion of neuronal.structural.p.asticity and in the p.evention of ORM *** findings suggest that BDNF-mediated neuronal.structural.p.asticity in area V2 is crucial.in the p.evention of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent model. of aging and Al.heimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activation of neuronal.circuits in visual.area V2 have therap.utic rel.vance in the treatment of memory deficits.
