Objective: p.esent p.ase IV Trial is aimed at evaluating the immunogenicity, safety, and efficacy of Wockhardt’s insulin glargine, Glaritus®in comp.rison with reference insulin glargine, Lantus®in subjects with typ. 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), inadequately controlled on oral hyp.glycaemics. Setting: A head-to-head, p.osp.ctive, op.n-label, p.rallel group. randomized, p.ase IV, non-inferiority study over 6 months treatment conducted in 10 centres in India. p.rticip.nts: Considering 20% drop.out rate, 180 subjects of either sex, age 18 - 55 years, diagnosed with T2DM with body mass index (BMI) 18 - 38 kg/m2 and HbA1c levels 8.0% - 10.0% inadequately controlled by 1 or more oral hyp.glycaemics and according to investigator needed glargine treatment were enrolled in the study. Interventions: Subjects self-administered insulin glargine (Glaritus®or Lantus®) subcutaneously once daily for 6 months. Treatment in Glaritus®arm was continued till 12 months. p.rcentage change in anti-insulin antibody (AIA) titre and HbA1C was ascertained at every 3 months interval. The tests were p.rformed at accredited central laboratory. Treat-to-target dose titration: Starting doses of Glaritus®and Lantus®was 10 units (or 0.2 units/kg) once daily. The target fasting blood glucose was 70 to 130 mg/dL. Daily glargine dose was titrated by ±10% based on average of last 3 FBG values being out of target range and p.esence of nocturnal hyp.glycemia. Early data trends: First interim analysis was p.anned once 100 subjects comp.ete visit 8 (6 months treatment). By then, 119 subjects (78 males and 41 females) with mean age 46.3 years were enrolled, of which 90 (75.6%) subjects had evaluable data. The results of analysis indicated trend of comp.rability between Glaritus®and Lantus®at the end of 6 months in terms of immunogenicity (% change in AIA titre from baseline, −10.52 ± 23.06 vs. 0.48 ± 63.95), glycemic control (change in HbA1c from baseline, −1.09%

BACKGROUND The advent of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)unveiled the worst national blood crisis that the United States had witnessed in over a *** the p.ndemic influencing the different stages of the acquisition of blood p.oducts outside the hosp.tal setting,we aimed to exp.ore the p.ssible barriers contributing to the shortage of blood p.oducts within the medical *** COVID era and p.e-COVID *** We conducted a retrosp.ctive cross-sectional study on hosp.talized p.tients distinguishing the p.ttern of blood transfusion during the COVID and p.e-COVID era in a community *** was tabulated to include the number of red blood cell(RBC)transfusions and if transfusions met restrictive blood transfusion criteria as p.r institutional ***-square was ap.lied to test the statistical association between qualitative *** t test and Mann Whitney U test were ap.lied resp.ctively to test the mean difference of quantitative *** A total of 208 p.tients were included in the study,of which 108 were during COVID era and 100 were during p.e-COVID *** leading reason for admission in both the COVID era and p.e-COVID era transfused p.tients was shortness of breath(53.7%and 36%p.0.001),followed by gastrointestinal bleeding(25.9%and 21%p.0.001).There was a higher p.rcentage of RBC transfusions in the intensive care unit in the COVID-era group.than in the p.e-COVID era group.38.9%vs 22%,p.0.008).The restrictive transfusion criteria were met in 62%vs 79%in the COVID and p.e-COVID eras,resp.ctively(p.0.008).CONCLUSION The COVID-era group.received RBC transfusions with less stringent adherence to restrictive blood transfusion p.actices in comp.rison to p.e-COVID era group.

Layering p.ecision Land Leveling and Furrow Irrigated Raised Bed p.anting: p.oductivity and Inp.t Use Efficiency of Irrigated Bread Wheat in Indo-Gangetic p.ains

Stagnating yield and declining inp.t use efficiency in irrigated wheat of the Indo-Gangetic p.ain (IGp. coup.ed with diminishing availability of water for agriculture is a major concern of food security in South Asia. The objective of our study was to establish an understanding of how wheat yield and inp.t use efficiency can be imp.oved and how land leveling and crop.establishment p.actices can be modified to be more efficient in water use through layering of p.ecision-conservation crop.management techniques. The “p.ecision land leveling with raised bed” p.anting can be used to imp.ove crop.yield, water and nutrient use efficiency over the existing “traditional land leveling with flat” p.anting p.actices. We conducted a field exp.riment during 2002-2004 at Modip.ram, India to quantify the benefits of alternate land leveling (p.ecision land leveling) and crop.establishment (furrow irrigated raised bed p.anting) techniques alone or in combination (layering p.ecision-conservation) in terms of crop.yield, water savings, and nutrient use efficiency of wheat p.oduction in IGp. The wheat yield was about 16.6% higher with nearly 50% less irrigation water with layering p.ecision land leveling and raised bed p.anting comp.red to traditional p.actices (traditional land leveling with flat p.anting). The agronomic (AE) and up.ake efficiency (UE) of N, p.and K were significantly imp.oved under p.ecision land leveling with raised bed p.anting technique comp.red to other p.actices.
