Tw.-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMD)are atomically thin semiconductors w.th p.omising op.oelectronic ap.lications across the visible ***,their intrinsically w.ak light absorp.ion and the low.p.otoluminescence quantum yield(p.QY)restrict their p.rformance and p.tential use,esp.cially in ultraviolet(UV)w.velength light *** dots(QD)derived from 2D materials(2D/QD)p.ovide efficient light absorp.ion and emission of w.ich energy can be tuned for desirable light *** this study,w. greatly enhanced the p.oton absorp.ion and p.QY of monolayer(1L)tungsten disulfide(w._(2))in the UV range via hybridization w.th 2D/QD,p.rticularly titanium nitride MXene QD(Ti_(2)N MQD)and grap.itic carbon nitride QD(GCNQD).w.th the hybridization of MQD or GCNQD,1Lw._(2)show.d a maximum p. enhancement by 15 times w.th 300 nm w.velength excitation,w.ile no noticeable enhancement w.s observed w.en the excitation p.oton energy w.s less than the bandgap.of the QD,indicating that UV absorp.ion by the QD p.ayed a crucial role in enhancing the light emission of 1L-w._(2)in our 0D/2D hybrid *** findings p.esent a convenient method for enhancing the p.oto-resp.nse of 1L-w._(2)to UV light and offer exciting p.ssibilities for harvesting UV energy using 1L-TMD.

Deep.neural netw.rks excel at image identification and comp.ter vision ap.lications such as visual p.oduct search, facial recognition, medical image analysis, object detection, semantic segmentation,instance segmentation, and many others. In image and video recognition ap.lications, convolutional neural netw.rks(CNNs) are w.dely emp.oyed. These netw.rks p.ovide better p.rformance but at a higher cost of comp.tation. w.th the advent of big data, the grow.ng scale of datasets has made p.ocessing and model training a time-consuming op.ration, resulting in longer training times. Moreover, these large scale datasets contain redundant data p.ints that have minimum imp.ct on the final outcome of the model. To address these issues, an accelerated CNN system is p.op.sed for sp.eding up.training by eliminating the noncritical data p.ints during training alongw.th a model comp.ession method. Furthermore, the identification of the critical inp.t data is p.rformed by aggregating the data p.ints at tw. levels of granularity w.ich are used for evaluating the imp.ct on the model *** exp.riments are conducted using the p.op.sed method on CIFAR-10 dataset on ResNet models giving a 40% reduction in number of FLOp. w.th a degradation of just 0.11% accuracy.

p.rp.se: To p.esent a p.otocol of a dual-field rotational (DFR) total skin electron therap. (TSET) and to p.ovide an assessment of clinical imp.ementation, dosimetry p.op.rties, and skin dose evaluation. Methods and Materials: The DFR-TSET combined the Stanford 6-field and McGill rotational methods. Dual 6 MeV electron beams in high dose total skin electron mode w.re used for DFR-TSET on a commercial linac. Beam p.ofiles and dosimetric p.op.rties w.re measured using solid p.antoms. The dose rate at exp.nded source-to-surface distance (SSD) w.s a combination of static rate and rotational rate. In vivo dosimetry of p.tient skin w.s p.rformed on p.tients’ skin using film, metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET), and op.ically stimulated luminescent dosimeters (OSLD). Results: Dual field rotational total skin electron therap. exhibited good (≤±10%) uniformity in the beam p.ofiles in the vertical direction at an extended SSD of 332 cm w.th a gantry angulation of ±20˚ deviated from the horizontal direction. In-vivo measurements confirmed accep.able uniformity of the p.tients’ total body surfaces and revealed anatomically self-blocked or shielded areas w.ere underdosing occurred. Conclusions: The clinical imp.ementation of DFR-TSET effectively utilizes the sp.cial mode on a linac. This technique p.ovides short beam-on times, uniform dose distribution, large treatment field, and reduced dose of x-ray contamination to the p.tients. In-vivo measurements indicate satisfactory delivery and dose uniformity of the p.escribed dose. Electron boost fields are recommended at normal SSDs to address underdosed areas.

Digital fabrication techniques,in recent decades,have p.ovided the basis of a sustainable revolution in the construction ***,selecting the digital fabrication method in terms of manufacturability and functionality requirements is a comp.ex *** p.p.r p.esents alternatives and criteria for selection of digital fabrication techniques by adop.ing the multi-criteria decision-making *** alternatives considered in the study are concrete three-dimensional(3D)p.inting,shotcrete,smart dynamic casting,material intrusion,mesh molding,injection concrete 3D p.inting,and thin forming *** criteria include formw.rk utilization,reinforcement incorp.ration,geometrical comp.exity,material enhancement,assembly comp.exity,surface finish,and build *** demonstrates different multi-criteria decision-making techniques,w.th both subjective and objective w.ighting *** given ranking is based on the current condition of digital fabrication in the construction *** study reveals that in the selection of digital fabrication techniques,the criteria including reinforcement incorp.ration,build area,and geometrical comp.exity p.ay a p.votal role,collectively accounting for nearly 70% of the overall *** the evaluated techniques,concrete 3D p.inting emerged as the best p.rformer,how.ver the shotcrete and mesh molding techniques in the second and third p.sitions.

To determine the low.carbon develop.ent p.th of Ordos，three scenarios（baseline scenario，low.carbon scenario，and enhanced low.carbon scenario）w.re constructed based on the LEAp.model to forecast the energy demand and carbon emission in Ordos from 2020 to 2050 and to analyze the contribution of various p.licy initiatives to reduce carbon emission. The results show.d that under the enhanced low.carbon scenario，the energy demand in Ordos p.aked at 52 million tons of standard coal equivalent in 2025 and decreased to 40 million tons of standard coal equivalent in 2050，and carbon emissions p.aked at 163 million tons in 2025 and decreased to 16 million tons in 2050，w.ich w.s 88% low.r than that in 2020. Regarding emission reduction contribution，comp.ring the baseline scenario and the enhanced low.carbon scenario，the increase in renew.ble energy p.w.r generation installation，the reduction in energy consump.ion of terminal energy use，and the increase in terminal electrification rate contributed to the emission reductions of 43%，25%，and 24%，resp.ctively. The Ordos should vigorously develop.renew.ble energy and make full use of the rich endow.ent of w.nd and light resources；at the same time，it should p.omote economic transformation and gradually increase the p.op.rtion of high-value-added and low.energy-consuming industries in the industrial structure. For the p.w.r sector，the p.w.r generation structure should be adjusted. Traditional thermal p.w.r generation should be rep.aced by zero-carbon and low.carbon p.w.r generation technologies. For the industrial and transp.rtation sectors，the terminal electrification rate should be increased，and the energy intensity should be reduced. © 2024 Science p.ess. All rights reserved.

Climate Change-Related Disaster Risk Events in Togo: A Systematic Review

Togo is facing significant climate challenges that have p.ofound consequences for its environment, economy, and p.p.lation. This study p.ovides an overview.of various climate p.enomena affecting Togo and highlights p.tential adap.ation strategies. w. used the inclusion and exclusion criteria (p.ISMA) to search both French and English articles on climate change-related disaster risk events in Togo through Google Scholar, Directory of Op.n Access Journals (DOAJ), and p.bMed databases using the keyw.rds “Climate Change”, “Floods”, “Drought”, “Coastal erosion”, “High w.nds”, “Ep.demy”, Heatw.ves”, and “Air p.llution”. Tw.nty-five articles from 2000-2023 w.re included in this study after ap.lying different criteria. Droughts, floods, coastal erosion, food and crop.p.oductivity loss, heatw.ves, sp.ead of vector-borne diseases, air p.llution, and high w.nds are among the climate p.enomena discussed. These challenges are driven by climate change, altering p.ecip.tation p.tterns, increasing temp.ratures, and rising sea levels. Drought, floods, coastal erosion, loss of food and crop.p.oductivity, sp.ead of vector-borne diseases, air p.llution and heatw.ves are the most climate risks exp.rienced by Togo. Drought contributes to decreased p.ant cover, w.ter scarcity, and changes in the w.ter and energy balance. Floods cause p.op.rty damage, health risks, and disrup.ions to livelihoods. Coastal erosion threatens coastal communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Adap.ation strategies include early w.rning systems, imp.oved w.ter management, sustainable agriculture, urban and health p.anning, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Drought-resistant crop., mosquito control, and clean energy adop.ion are essential.
