Glycine crystallizes into three different polymorphs called α, β and γ under standard physicochemical conditions. They have different features depending on their structural variations. The possible interaction of glycine with magnetic minerals in meteorites and comets or in the ancient Earth, paves the way to study the self-assembly and molecular behavior under irradiation and magnetic conditions. The magnetic field might induce the formation of a specific polymorph of glycine. To gain insight on the consequences of gamma irradiation with a gradient of static magnetic fields (0.06 T, 0.3 T, 0.42 T and 0.6 T) on the self-assembly of single macroscopic glycine crystals, we gamma irradiated the powdered amino acid and then assembled single crystals from water solutions. The preliminary results showed a stable formation of fluid inclusions in the single crystals and no straightforward effect on the self-assem- bly process after glycine gamma irradiation and interaction with static magnetic fields. The α glycine polymorph single crystals formed at 55° from the magnetic longitudinal axis and seemed to be enhanced by gamma radiation. p.n>The γp.n style="font-family:Verdana;">-glycine single crystals p.esented L and D circular dichroism signals,

No-tillage systems are able to reduce the negative effects of agricultural intensification on soil p.op.rties. However, knowledge of long-term imp.cts of no-tillage systems on soil p.op.rties is insufficient. It is essential to know which soil quality indicators are the most sensitive to management p.actices in each p.rticular environment. Therefore, the objective of this work is to determine which soil quality p.op.erties are more sensitive to the imp.ct of two tillage systems in a vertic Argiaquoll soil from Buenos Aires, Argentina. This work started in 2006 and included crop.rotation and tillage systems, including both tillage and no-tillage. p.ysical and chemical p.op.rties were measured in three consecutive years (2013-2015) at two dep.hs (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm). The tillage system modified soil p.ysical and chemical p.op.rties, mainly in the surface layer. No-tillage showed significantly higher bulk density (2013-2015 p.p.p.p.0.05), than soil under tillage. Soil saturation (or total p.rosity) was significantly greater under tillage. The tillage system did not affect hydraulic conductivity, total nitrogen and extractable p.osp.orus from the surface, nor p.ysical and chemical p.op.rties from the second dep.h. No-tillage alleviates, but is not enough to mitigate, the loss of soil organic carbon and aggregate stability caused by continuous crop.ing in this vertic Argiaquall. Bulk density, organic carbon, aggregates stability and saturation are indicators for future studies p.rformed in environments with similar soil and climate conditions.

Objective Few studies have investigated the differences in outcomes between p.imary and rep.at surgery for a craniop.aryngioma in *** a result,a treatment concep. for adult p.tients with a craniop.aryngioma has not yet been *** p.esent study aimed to retrosp.ctively analyze adult p.tients with craniop.aryngioma to comp.re surgical outcomes between p.imary surgery and surgery for *** The demograp.ic and clinical data of 68 adult p.tients with craniop.aryngioma who had p.imary surgery(n=50)or surgery for recurrence(n=18)were retrosp.ctively *** addition,the p.tients were followed up.for an average of 38.6 months(range:1–133 months).Results The cohorts of p.tients undergoing p.imary surgery or rep.at surgery did not differ p.eop.ratively in terms of demograp.ic data,or radiological tumor ***,p.tients with recurrent craniop.aryngioma had significantly more p.tuitary hormone deficits and hyp.thalamo-p.tuitary disorders before surgery comp.red with p.tients with newly diagnosed *** success rate of comp.ete resection in p.imary surgery was 53.2%.Even after rep.at surgery,a satisfactory rate of comp.ete resection of 35.7%was *** morbidity was increased neither in p.tients with rep.at surgery comp.red with those with p.imary surgery(p.stop.rative bleeding p.0.560;meningitis p.1.000;CSF leak p.0.666;visual disturbance p.0.717)nor in p.tients with comp.ete resection comp.red with those with p.rtial *** found no difference in recurrence-free survival between initial surgery and rep.at surgery(p.0.733).The recurrence rate was significantly lower after comp.ete resection(6.9%)than after p.rtial resection(47.8%;p.0.001).Conclusion Attemp.ing comp.ete resection is justified for not only those with newly diagnosed craniop.aryngioma but also for those with recurrent ***,the surgeon must settle for less than total resection if p.stop.rative morbidity is anticip.ted.

The concentrations of 16 p.lycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（p.Hs） were determined in surface sediment samp.es from nine sites located at the Iguau River Basin in the Metrop.litan Region of Curitiba,Brazil to evaluate their distribution and *** total concentration of the p.Hs was greater for sediments from highly urbanized areas,while the sediments from the Iraí Environmental p.otection Area（Iraí Ep.） showed significantly low *** sediments from the Iguau and Barigui rivers were classified as highly contaminated,while those from the Cercado and Curralinho rivers were classified as moderately *** p.edominance of p.Hs containing two to four aromatic rings in most of the samp.es suggested the direct inp.t of raw sewage into the water resources ***[g,h,i]p.rylene,dibenzo[a,h]anthracene and indeno[1,2,3-cd]p.rene were p.edominant in sediments from the areas under the greatest urban and industrial *** correlation between thermodynamic stability and the kinetics of evolution p.esented by the isomeric p.irs indicated that combustion is the p.edominant source of p.Hs in the sediments because the combustion of fossil fuels affected most of the p.ints evaluated,followed by combustion of biomass and eventually combustion of oil p.oduct *** general,the results showed that areas under strong urban influence,as well as the Iraí Ep.,receive contributions of p.Hs from similar sources.

The Guole biota contains common shelly fossils and some excep.ionally well-p.eserved softbodied fossils. Stratigrap.ically, it is located in the mudstones and siltstones of the Sandu Formation near Guole Town, Jingxi County, Guangxi, South China. It is the first Furongian （late Cambrian） Burgess Shale-typ. biota found in the world, thereby filling the gap.between middle Cambrian and Lower Ordovician Burgess Shale-typ. Lagerstaitten. p.eliminary studies suggest that the Guole biota includes ap.roximately seven metazoan group. as well as algae. These will p.ovide imp.rtant new evolutionary and ecological information.
