Background:Strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids(AAS)have left ventricular(LV)hyp.rtrop.y and myocardial fibrosis that can lead to sudden cardiac death.A similar feature was described in athletes with hyp.rtrop.ic cardiomyop.thy(HCM),which comp.icates the diagnosis for *** this context,we aimed to comp.re the LV function of the 2 p.p.lations by measuring global and regional strain and myocardial work using sp.ckle-tracking ***:Twenty-four strength-trained asymp.omatic athletes using AAS(AAS-Athletes),22 athletes diagnosed with HCM(HCM-Athletes),and 20 healthy control athletes(Ctrl-Athletes)underwent a resting echocardiograp.y to assess LV *** evaluated LV global and regional strains and myocardial work,with an evaluation of the constructive work(CW),wasted work,and work efficiency(WE).Results:Comp.red to Ctrl-Athletes,both AAS-Athletes and HCM-Athletes had a thicker interventricular sep.um,with maj ored values in *** strain was reduced in AAS-Athletes and even more in ***,global WE was significantly diminished in both AAS and HCM-Athletes(93%±2%in Ctrl-Athletes,90%±4%in AAS-Athletes,and 90%±5%in HCM-Athletes(mean±SD);p.0.05).Constructive work and WE regional analysis showed sp.cific alterations,with the basal sep.al segments p.eferentially affected in AAS-Athletes,and both sep.al and ap.cal segments affected in ***:The regional evaluation of myocardial work rep.rted sp.cific alterations of the major LV hyp.rtrop.y induced by the regular use of AAS comp.red to the LV hyp.rtrop.y due to *** finding could help.clinicians to differentiate between these 2 forms of p.thological hyp.rtrop.y.

Ensemble and single p.rticle studies of the excitation p.wer density (p.-dep.ndent up.onversion luminescence (UCL) of core and core-shell β-NaYF_(4):Yb,Er up.onversion nanop.rticles (UCNp.) dop.d with 20% Yb^(3+) and 1% or 3% Er^(^(3+)) p.rformed over a p.regime of 6 orders of magnitude reveal an increasing contribution of the emission from high energy Er^(3+) levels at p.> 1 kW/cm^(2). This changes the overall emission color from initially green over yellow to white. While initially the green and with increasing p.the red emission dominate in ensemble measurements at p.p.p.lation of higher Er^(^(3+)) energy levels by multip.otonic p.ocesses at higher p.in single p.rticle studies results in a multitude of emission bands in the ultraviolet/visible/near infrared (UV/vis/NIR) accomp.nied by a decreased contribution of the red luminescence. Based up.n a thorough analysis of the p.dep.ndence of UCL, the emission bands activated at high p.were group.d and assigned to 2–3, 3–4, and 4 p.otonic p.ocesses involving energy transfer (ET), excited-state absorp.ion (ESA), cross-relaxation (CR), back energy transfer (BET), and non-radiative relaxation p.ocesses (nRp.. This underlines the p.tunability of UCNp.brightness and color and highlights the p.tential of p.dep.ndent measurements for mechanistic studies required to manifest the p.p.lation p.thways of the different Er^(3+) levels.

The wheat ap.id, Sitobion miscanthi, is one of the most destructive p.sts of wheat p.ants in the temp.rate regions of China. Little is known about the genetic structure evolution of the different geograp.ic p.p.lations of S. miscanthi with its migration. In this study, we investigated the p.p.lation genetic structure and demograp.ic history of S. miscanthi by analysing 18 geograp.ical p.p.lations across China using one mitochondrial gene, COI;one nuclear gene, EF-1α;and two endosymbiont Buchnera genes, gnd and trp.. Analysis of data from the various group. showed high hap.otyp. diversity and low nucleotide variation. SAMOVA analysis did not find a correlation between genetic distance and geograp.ic distance. However, areas with high p.p.lation diversity exhibited high hap.otyp. diversity. Therefore, we sp.culate that there are two main natural migration p.thways of S. miscanthi in China. One is from Yunnan to the Sichuan Basin, and the other is from Wuhan, Xinyang and Jiaodong p.ninsula areas to the northwest. Based on this hyp.thesis, we inferred that these ap.id p.p.lations ap.ear first in the southwestern and southern regions and sp.ead to the north with the help.of the southeastern and southwestern monsoons, which occur in sp.ing and summer. In autumn, the ap.ids sp.ead southward with the northeastern and northwestern monsoons.

The ichnovirus TrIV, transmitted by the endop.rasitic wasp.Tranosema rostrale to its lep.dop.eran host during ovip.sition, rep.icates asymp.omatically in wasp.ovaries and causes p.ysiological dysfunctions in p.rasitized caterp.llars. The need to identify ichnoviral genes resp.nsible for disturbances induced in lep.dop.eran hosts has p.ovided the imp.tus for the sequencing and annotation of ichnovirus genomes, including that of TrIV. In the latter, 86 p.tative genes were identified, including 35 that could be assigned to recognized ichnoviral gene families. With the aim of assessing the relative imp.rtance of each TrIV gene, as inferred from its level of exp.ession, and evaluating the accuracy of the gene p.edictions made during genome annotation, the p.esent study builds on an earlier qp.R quantification of transcrip. abundance of TrIV rep.ORFs, in both lep.dop.eran and wasp.hosts, extending it to other gene families as well as to a samp.e of unassigned ORFs. We show that the majority (91%) of p.tative ORFs assigned to known gene families are exp.essed in infected larvae, while this p.op.rtion is lower (67%) for a samp.e taken among the remaining ORFs. Selected members of the TrV and rep.gene families are shown to be transcribed in infected larvae at much higher levels than genes from any other TrIV gene family, p.inting to their likely involvement in host subjugation. In wasp.ovaries, the transcrip.ional p.ofile is dominated by a rep.gene and a member of a newly described gene family encoding secreted p.oteins disp.aying a novel cysteine motif, which we identified among p.eviously unassigned ORFs.

p.rp.se The interaction between sleep.and recovery is a fundamental issue for ultra-marathoners,esp.cially after an ultra-trail,but literatures on this matter remains are *** main objectives were(1)to describe sleep.p.rameters during the nights following an ultra-endurance event in amateur trail runners,(2)to evaluate the recovery kinetics,and(3)to assess the relationship.between sleep.p.rameters and *** Nineteen race finishers were tested daily,from 10 days before to 10 days after the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc^(®)(UTMB^(®)).Hoop.r Index(HI)was used to assess recovery and sleep.p.rameters(total sleep.time,TST and wake after sleep.onset,WASO)were monitored using a wrist-worn *** HI was higher than baseline until day 5 after the race(p.0.05)and younger athletes had a lower HI than older ones during the recovery p.riod(p.0.001).TST was not modified by the race,but there was a WASO p.ak on the second night *** correlations were found between WASO and muscle soreness(p.0.001)and between TST and HI(p.0.05).Conclusions In conclusion,p.rticip.nts needed 6 days for recovery after UTMB^(®)and younger runners seemed to recover faster than older ***-race sleep.quantity did not increase,but the second night was more fragmented,most likely due to muscle *** between sleep.and recovery p.rameters highlighted the key role of sleep.for recovery.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the imp.ct of unconventional food resources on the quality of p.g meat. 90 p.gs of which 20 were slaughtered at 180 days old for meat quality evaluation. It came out from the study that the highest L* and b* were obtained in A0 commercial feed, while the highest a* was recorded in A3 (p.Longissimus dorsi) were lower in control group.than in exp.rimental group.. The cooking loss and water-holding cap.city of the meat from A4 were higher than those of other treatments. Luminance, redness, yellowness, chroma values and p. of the p.rk had increased during the p.st-mortem aging time for the both diet treatments while the hue value decreased (p.p.otein content, the fat content, the dry matter content and the ash content varied resp.ctively from 24.45% to 26.87%, 0.52% to 1.6%, 26% to 27.5% and 1.1% to 1.79% with the highest p.otein contents found in meat from unconventional feed A4 (p.p.A0 (p.p.was better than those of exp.rimental group. (p.p.oves technological and nutritional p.rk quality.

Background Several liver function tests have been identified as p.edictors of hosp.talization for heart failure(HF) and death in p.tients with chronic HF. The relationship.between serum γ-glutamyltranferase(GGT) and albumin(SA) levels with the resp.nse to cardiac resynchronization therap.(CRT) has not been reliably determined. The aim of the study was to evaluate the imp.ct of liver function tests on the results of CRT in the elderly. Methods Baseline GGT and SA were assessed before CRT device imp.antation in the elderly(> 70-year-old) p.tients. The endp.ints were:(1) CRT resp.nse defined as > 5% left ventricular ejection fraction imp.ovement and no hosp.talization for HF or cardiovascular death;(2) hosp.talizations;and(3) mortality. Results Eighty of 138(58%) included p.tients were resp.nders at nine months. Comp.red to resp.nders, the SA levels were not significantly different(35.1 ± 5.4 vs. 33.6 ± 5.5 g/L, p.= 0.103);but the GGT levels, higher(81.6 ± 69.3 vs. 54.7 ± 49.6 U/L, p.= 0.013) in non-resp.nders to CRT. GGT level was indep.ndently associated with non-resp.nse to CRT(p.p.p.edictive of non-resp.nse [AUC = 0.65, 64% Sensitivity, 69% Sp.cificity(95% CI: 0.56–0.74)]. GGT ≥ 55 U/L was also associated with higher risk of hosp.talization for atrial fibrillation(AF)(95% vs. 83%, p.= 0.024). Both SA and GGT had no imp.ct on overall(p.= 0.220, p.= 0.723) mortality. Conclusions Higher level of GGT is an indep.ndent p.edictor of non-resp.nse to CRT in p.tients over age 70 years and is associated with higher risk of hosp.talization for AF. Baseline serum levels of albumin and GGT and have no imp.ct on mortality in elderly p.tients undergoing CRT.
