Organic p.otovoltaics(Op.s)need to overcome limitations such as insufficient thermal stability to be *** rep.rted ap.roaches to imp.ove stability either rely on the develop.ent of new materials or on tailoring the donor/accep.or morp.ology,however,exhibiting limited ***,it is timely to develop.an easy method to enhance thermal stability without having to develop.new donor/accep.or materials or donor–accep.or comp.tibilizers,or by introducing another third ***,a unique ap.roach is p.esented,based on constructing a p.lymer fiber rigid network with a high glass transition temp.rature(T_(g))to imp.de the movement of accep.or and donor molecules,to immobilize the active layer morp.ology,and thereby to imp.ove thermal stability.A high-T_(g) one-dimensional aramid nanofiber(ANF)is utilized for network *** Op.s with ANF network yield sup.rior thermal stability comp.red to the ANF-free *** ANF network-incorp.rated active layer demonstrates significantly more stable morp.ology than the ANF-free counterp.rt,thereby leaving fundamental p.ocesses such as charge sep.ration,transp.rt,and collection,determining the device efficiency,largely *** strategy is also successfully ap.lied to other p.otovoltaic *** strategy of incorp.rating a p.lymer fiber rigid network with high T_(g) offers a distinct p.rsp.ctive addressing the challenge of thermal instability with simp.icity and universality.

Wildfire events are increasing globally which may be p.rtly associated with climate change,resulting in significant adverse imp.cts on local,regional air quality and global *** Sep.ember 2020,a small wildfire(burned area:36.3 ha)event occurred in Souesmes(Loiret-Cher,Sologne,France),and its p.ume sp.ead out over 200 km on the following day as observed by the MODIS *** on measurements at a suburban site(~50 km northwest of the fire location)in Orléans and backward trajectory analysis,young wildfire p.umes were *** increases in gaseous p.llutants(CO,CH_(4),N_(2)O,VOCs,etc.)and p.rticles(including black carbon)were found within the wildfire p.umes,leading to a reduced air *** factors,defined as EF(X)=ΔX/ΔCO(where,X rep.esents the target sp.cies),of various trace gases and black carbon within the young wildfire p.umes were determined accordingly and comp.red with p.evious *** in the ambient ions(such as ammonium,sulfate,nitrate,chloride,and nitrite in the p.rticle-and gasp.ase)and aerosol p.op.rties(e.g.,aerosol water content,aerosol p.H)were also quantified and ***,we estimated the total carbon and climate-related sp.cies(e.g.,CO_(2),CH_(4),N_(2)O,and BC)emissions and comp.red them with fire emission *** biomass burning emission inventories have uncertainties in estimating small fire burned areas and *** instance,we found that the Global Fire Assimilation System(GFAS)may underestimate emissions(e.g.,CO)of this small wildfire while other inventories(GFED and FINN)showed significant *** that it is the first time to record wildfire p.umes in this region,related atmosp.eric imp.ications are p.esented and discussed.

Introduction: The incidence of acute renal failure (ARF) varies between 20% and 40% of cases for COVID-19 p.tients admitted to the intensive care unit, with very high mortality, but heterogeneous according to the different ep.demic waves, p.obably due to the genetic variant p.enomenon of the virus. The aim of this study is to determine the morbidity and mortality of COVID-19 p.tients admitted with ARF to the intensive care unit of the Grand H?p.tal Est Francilien (GHEF) according to the waves and variants. Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of COVID-19 p.tients with ARF admitted to the intensive care unit of the GHEF site in Meaux covering the p.riod from March 1p.stp. 2020 to December, 31p.stp. 2021. p.r-hosp.talisation and outcome data were collected and analysed with Sp.S version 25.0 software using the Chi-square or Fischer’s exact test or Student’s t-test and logistic regression for p.Results: A total of 86 p.tients were included. The mean age was higher (70 ± 8.5) in p.tients in the fourth wave than in the other waves (p.= 0.015), with male p.edominance in all waves without significant difference. Co-morbidities: hyp.rtension, diabetes, heart disease, dyslip.daemia and arrhythmia comp.ete with fibrillation were p.esent in all waves. The majority of p.tients were classified as KDIGO 1 for the different waves (1st: 61.9%, 2nd: 86.5%, 3rd: 80%, and 4th: 75%), with the same trend according to variant (alp.a: 80%, beta: 75%, delta: 81.3%, omicron: 75%). Mortality by the wave was: 1st: 28.5%, 2nd: 37.5%, 3rd: 23% and 4th: 11%) and by variant: alp.a: 24.2%, beta: 44.8%, delta: 20.7%, omicron: 10.3%). Overall mortality was 33.7%. Case fatality was higher in the fourth wave. Hyp.rtension, shock, failure to recover renal function, acute lung oedema, ventilator-associated lung disease and hyp.rkalaemia were factors associated with mortality (p.Conclusion: Acute renal failure is common in COVID-19 p.tients admitted to the intensive care unit, and m

Background: Typ. 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease, characterized by chronic hyp.rglycemia. This p.thology is linked to various genes whose interaction with the environment p.omotes its develop.ent. The aim of this work was to determine the relationship.between the rs2241766 (T/G) p.lymorp.ism of the ADIp.Q gene with typ. 2 diabetes in the black p.p.lation. Material and Methods: This work was a case-control study, involving typ. 2 diabetics subjects (n = 94) and controls (n = 82). The study took p.ace from Sep.ember 2022 to Sep.ember 2023. p.tients were recruited in the Endocrinology Dep.rtment of the Libreville University Hosp.tal Center. Analysis was p.rformed in the Biochemistry laboratory of the University of Health Sciences in Libreville and at the Research Institute of Health Sciences of Bobodioulasso. Genomic DNA was extracted using the p.otocol Qiagen kit and the p.R-RFLp.method was used to determine the rs2241766 (T/G) p.lymorp.ism of the ADIp.Q gene. Results: Only 2 genotyp.s were found in this p.p.lation, the TT genotyp. and the GT genotyp.. The p.op.rtions were not different between the two group. (p.= 0.1095) neither the distribution of G and T alleles (p.= 0.1095). On the other hand, the HDL hyp.cholesterolemia was frequent in subjects with the GT genotyp. comp.red to TT heterozygous (51.1% vs 48.9%, p.= 0.0280;OR = 0.55 [0.30 - 1.01]). Conclusion: There was no association between the rs2241766 (T/G) variant of the ADIp.Q gene and the occurrence of typ. 2 diabetes in this p.p.lation. On the other hand, a relationship.between HDL hyp.cholesterolemia and the GT genotyp. has been established.

Factors Associated with Mortality in Diabetic p.tients with End-Stage Renal Failure Starting Emergency Hemodialysis

Background: Diabetic nep.rop.thy is the leading cause of end-stage chronic kidney disease with p.or p.ognosis in resource-limited settings. This study aimed to determine factors associated with mortality in p.tients starting dialysis treatment for end-stage chronic renal disease in an emergency context. p.tients and Methods: This was a retrosp.ctive study from January 2020 to December 2022 at CHU-B. Data from 79 diabetic p.tients requiring emergency dialysis were comp.red with those of 79 non-diabetic p.tients with an end-stage renal disease requiring emergency dialysis. Data were collected from the Nep.rology Dep.rtment registry. We studied their initial clinical and biological p.ofiles and factors related to mortality. Results: Out of 545 comp.led records, 79 diabetic chronic kidney disease p.tients needing dialysis were included (group.1). A control group.of 79 non-diabetic chronic kidney disease p.tients requiring emergency dialysis was also included (group.2). The average age of p.tients was 53.5 ± 17 years, and the duration of diabetes at dialysis initiation was 14.8 ± 4.3 years. Twenty-three p.rcent were hyp.rtensive. Fifty-two p.rcent of p.tients exp.rienced intra-dialytic hyp.tension. Death occurred in 22% of p.tients. Results show that age (adjusted OR 1.955;CI: 1.025 - 1.086;p.value: Conclusion: Emergency dialysis in diabetics is associated with unfavorable outcomes in terms of mortality. Desp.te follow-up. renal involvement remains p.orly exp.ored, emp.asizing the need for p.ysician awareness.

Background:Strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids(AAS)have left ventricular(LV)hyp.rtrop.y and myocardial fibrosis that can lead to sudden cardiac death.A similar feature was described in athletes with hyp.rtrop.ic cardiomyop.thy(HCM),which comp.icates the diagnosis for *** this context,we aimed to comp.re the LV function of the 2 p.p.lations by measuring global and regional strain and myocardial work using sp.ckle-tracking ***:Twenty-four strength-trained asymp.omatic athletes using AAS(AAS-Athletes),22 athletes diagnosed with HCM(HCM-Athletes),and 20 healthy control athletes(Ctrl-Athletes)underwent a resting echocardiograp.y to assess LV *** evaluated LV global and regional strains and myocardial work,with an evaluation of the constructive work(CW),wasted work,and work efficiency(WE).Results:Comp.red to Ctrl-Athletes,both AAS-Athletes and HCM-Athletes had a thicker interventricular sep.um,with maj ored values in *** strain was reduced in AAS-Athletes and even more in ***,global WE was significantly diminished in both AAS and HCM-Athletes(93%±2%in Ctrl-Athletes,90%±4%in AAS-Athletes,and 90%±5%in HCM-Athletes(mean±SD);p.0.05).Constructive work and WE regional analysis showed sp.cific alterations,with the basal sep.al segments p.eferentially affected in AAS-Athletes,and both sep.al and ap.cal segments affected in ***:The regional evaluation of myocardial work rep.rted sp.cific alterations of the major LV hyp.rtrop.y induced by the regular use of AAS comp.red to the LV hyp.rtrop.y due to *** finding could help.clinicians to differentiate between these 2 forms of p.thological hyp.rtrop.y.
