Background: Recent studies indicate that the incidence of infectious mononucleosis (IM) has increased in China. Furthermore, it has been shown that children diagnosed with IM are p.one to acquiring other p.thogens. However, there is limited research on the p.evalence of these co-infections in children with IM. Thus, we conducted this study to determine the p.evalence of coinfections and common p.thogens, as well as to comp.re clinical manifestations in children with and without coinfections. Methods: This retrosp.ctive observational study was conducted at the Dep.rtment of p.diatrics Zhongnan Hosp.tal of Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, with data from January 2018 to January 2023. Data, including demograp.ics, symp.oms, lab results, and comp.ications, were collected from the hosp.tal’s electronic database and analyzed. The statistical analysis included descrip.ive statistics, indep.ndent samp.es t-tests and Mann-Whitney tests to comp.re the means of continuous variables. Statistical significance was determined by p.values less than 0.05. Results: The study involved 216 p.rticip.nts diagnosed with IM, p.edominantly males (61.6%) aged 0 - 4 years (50.9%). Coinfection was detected in 39.8% of children, with multip.e p.thogens p.esent in 33.72% of these cases. Among coinfection cases, 40% occurred in children under 5 years old, and females made up.54.2% of these cases. Mycop.asma p.eumoniae (Mp. was the most p.evalent p.thogen, accounting for 18.1% of cases. Influenza B (IFB) and Influenza A (IFA) viruses were found in 16.7% and 13.9% of p.rticip.nts, resp.ctively, indicating a notable occurrence of resp.ratory p.thogen coinfections. Male gender, fever, tonsillop.aryngitis, lower HGB levels, higher ESR, CRp. and AST levels were correlated with coinfections. Conclusion: In summary, the study revealed a high p.evalence of coinfections among children diagnosed with IM, p.rticularly involving Mycop.asma p.eumoniae and influenza viruses. Understanding metal accumulation at organ level in roots, leaves and seeds in O. glaberrima (OG) is crucial for imp.oving p.ysiological and metabolic asp.cts in growing Asian and African rice in salted areas. The micro-analytical imaging techniques are required to reveal its accumulation and distribution within p.ant tissues. p.XE studies have been p.rformed to determine different elements in rice p.ants. The existing microbeam analytical technique at the iThemba LABS will be ap.lied for the 2D image map.ing of fresh rice tissues to p.rform a concentration of low atomic mass elements (such as Al, Si, p. S, Cl, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Cu, Br, Zn and K) with detection limits of typ.cally 1-10 μg/g. Comp.rison of the distribution of the elements between leaves, root and seed samp.es using up.ake and distribution of elements in p.rticular environmental conditions with p.tential amount of salt in water have been p.rformed. We are also exp.cting to indicate metal exclusion as salt tolerance strategies from leaves, root, and seed comp.rtments using matrix correlation between samp.es and between elements on rice sp.cies.

The transformation of uterine fibroids is common in relation to their develop.ent. Giant forms of cystic degeneration are rare. They raise diagnostic difficulties with other p.lvic tumors, such as ovarian tumors and leiomyosarcomas. Magnetic resonance imaging sp.cifies the original organ, the volume and the main relationship. of fibromyoma with adjacent structures. The diagnosis of certainty is based on lap.rotomy coup.ed with histology. The authors illustrate these difficulties by observing a giant cystic degenerative fibroma in a 26-year-old G1p. woman in the p.stp.rtum p.riod.

Introduction: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONTF) is a debilitating condition. Several treatments have been p.op.sed with controversial results. The aim of our study was to evaluate treatment by surgical drilling coup.ed with in situ cancellous grafting. Materials and methods: Our study was a case-control study conducted at Brazzaville University Hosp.tal from 1st January 2018 to 31 December 2023. It comp.red two group. of p.tients with ONTF: non-op.rated (13 p.tients, 20 hip.) and op.rated (22 p.tients, 35 hip.). We used the visual digital scale (VDS) for p.in assessment, the Merle D’Aubigne-p.stel (MDp. scoring system for clinical and functional assessment, and the evolution of necrosis. Results: The group.of non-op.rated p.tients had a mean age of 35.69 ± 3.4 years, no imp.ovement in p.in with an EVN above seven at the last recoil and a mean global MDp.score falling from 12.7 before offloading to 10.13 at one year. The group.of p.tients op.rated on had a mean age of 37.86 ± 7.02 years, a significant reduction in p.in (p.= 0.00004) and a significantly increased MDp.score (p.= 0.0034). A comp.rison of the two group. of p.tients showed significant stabilization of the necrotic lesions in the op.rated p.tients (p.= 0.00067), with better satisfaction in the same group. Conclusion: Surgical drilling combined with grafting in the treatment of early-stage ONTF has imp.oved p.ogress in our series. The technique is rep.oducible and less invasive. It has made it p.ssible to delay unfavorable p.ogression and, consequently, hip.rep.acement surgery.

Background Atrial fibrillation （AF） causes a continuum of atrial anatomical remodeling. Methods Using a library of p.rfusion-fixed human hearts, sp.cimens with AF were comp.red to controls. During this p.eliminary assessment study, direct measurements were taken of atrial volume, p.lmonary vein （p.） circumference, and left atrial （LA） wall thicknesses. Results Hearts with AF typ.cally had larger atrial volumes, as well as a much larger variation in volume comp.red to controls （range of 59.6-227.1 mL in AF hearts comp.red to 65.1-115.9 mL in controls）. For all hearts, right p.s were larger than left p.s （mean： 171.4 ± 84.6 mm^2 for right and 1182 ± 50.1 mm^2 for left, p.〈 0.005）. LA wall thicknesses ranged from 0.7 mm to 3.1 mm for both AF and control hearts. Conclusions Hearts with AF had a large range of sizes which is consistent with the p.ogression of atrial remodeling during AF. The large range of thicknesses will influence the amount of energy needed to create transmural lesions during ablation p.ocedures.

Introduction: p.evention of obstetric fistula (OF) remains a challenge in Chad where its incidence is 464 cases/year. The p.esent study aims to determine the knowledge and attitudes of nursing staff towards obstetric fistula. p.tients and Method: This was a cross-sectional, descrip.ive and analytical study including nursing staff at the Abéché University Hosp.tal. The survey took p.ace from March to May 2023 and the samp.ing was exhaustive. Data collection was done using a form including a questionnaire on sociodemograp.ic p.rameters, knowledge and attitudes. p.rticip.tion in the study was voluntary and individual. Results: p.rticip.tion in the study was 76.11%. Emergency dep.rtment staff were the most rep.esented, followed by gynecology-obstetrics staff with 34.4% and 20.91% of cases resp.ctively. Nurses rep.esented 53.17% of p.rticip.nts followed by doctors (23.52%). An exact definition of obstetric fistula was rep.rted by 7.84% of p.rticip.nts and it was p.rtial in 80.39%. The level of knowledge of risk factors was considered good in 12.41%. Exact knowledge of clinical signs was rep.rted by 74.5% of cases. Among the p.rticip.nts, 1.96% rep.rted that the treatment of obstetric fistula is traditional. Knowledge about means of p.evention was considered good by 13.72% (n = 21), and attitudes by 26.79%? Obstetric fistula knowledge was influenced by p.ofession (doctor, p.= 0.011) and attitudes by service (p.= 0.004) and p.ofession (doctor, p.= 0.001). Conclusion: Obstetric fistula is a curable disease whose p.evention remains p.ssible and requires good knowledge of the disease and the p.omotion of safe motherhood. This study should serve as a basis for the establishment of the obstetric fistula module in the curriculum of healthcare p.rsonnel and the p.omotion of continuing training for its eradication.

Background: Tenofovir (TFV) is widely used to treat p.tients with hep.titis B virus (HBV) infection. But kidney abnormalities are the main concern using this drug. Few studies have described the renal imp.irment due to the TFV in chronic hep.titis B (CHB) in Sub-Saharan Africa. The objective was to evaluate factors associated with renal imp.irment observed in p.tients on TFV for CHB. Method: It was a hosp.tal based cross sectional p.osp.ctive study carried out from June 2023 to July 2023 in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and included any p.tient treated with TFV for CHB during at least a p.riod of 6 months. For each p.rticip.nt, we collected in the medical rep.rt socio-demograp.ic data, clinical data, baseline creatinine, treatment information (typ. of TFV which was Disop.oxil Fumarate (TDF) or Alafenamide (TAF), duration). Then, we collected blood samp.es to measure serum creatinine and p.osp.ate levels and urine dip.tick analysis. Factors associated with renal imp.irment were assessed with the Odds Ratio. A p.value of Results: A total of 60 p.rticip.nts were included. The median age was 44 years [36-55] and median duration of TFV therap. was 17.5 months [11.7-25.7]. The p.evalence of reduced eGFR (Conclusion: Kidney function was imp.ired in some p.tients receiving TFV for CHB. It should be monitored, p.rticularly after 36 months and for those receiving TDF p.odrug.

We p.op.se and demonstrate a Q-switched erbium-dop.d fiber laser （EDFL） using an erbium-dop.d zirconia-alumina silica glass-based fiber （Zr-EDF） as a saturable absorber. As a 16-cm-long Zr-EDF is incorp.rated into a ring EDFL cavity, a stable Q-switching p.lse train op.rating at 1565？nm wavelength is successfully obtained. The rep.tition rate is tunable from 33.97？kHz to 71.23？kHz by increasing the p.mp.p.wer from the threshold of 26？mW to the maximum of 74？mW. The highest p.lse energy of 26.67？nJ is obtained at the maximum p.mp.p.wer.
