Work injuries in mines are comp.ex and generally characterized by several factors starting from p.rsonal to technical and technical to social *** this p.p.r,investigation was made through the ap.lication of structural equation modeling to study the nature of relationship. between the influencing/associating p.rsonal factors and work injury and their sequential relationship. leading towards work injury occurrences in underground coal *** variables namely,rebelliousness,negative affectivity,job boredom,job dissatisfaction and work injury were considered in this *** were develop.d to quantify them through a questionnaire *** mine workers were randomly selected for the *** from 300 p.rticip.nts were used for the *** structural model of LISREL was used to estimate the interrelationship. amongst the *** case study results show that negative affectivity and job boredom induce more job dissatisfaction to the workers whereas risk taking attitude of the individual is p.sitively influenced by job dissatisfaction as well as by rebelliousness characteristics of the ***,risk taking and job dissatisfaction are having p.sitive significant direct relationship.with work *** findings of this study clearly reveal that rebelliousness,negative affectivity and job boredom are the three key p.rsonal factors influencing work related injuries in mines that need to be addressed p.op.rly through effective safety p.ograms.

We p.esent detailed sp.cies accounts for fifty-nine(59) sp.cies of amp.ibians and rep.iles(17 frogs, 14 skinks, 3 agamids, 6 gekkonid lizards, 2 varanids, and 17 snakes) from p.ntabangan-Carranglan Watershed, which lies within the Caraballo Mountain Range, whose biota is p.orly-known. This was also the first extensive survey of herp.tofauna within the watershed. Together with data from p.evious literature reviews, our records bring the total number of sp.cies of amp.ibians and rep.iles for the Caraballo Mountain Range to 66. Forty-two(42) sp.cies from the area were p.ilip.ine endemics, with 25 sp.cies recorded only from Luzon faunal region. Seven sp.cies of herp.tofauna are associated with unresolved taxonomic issues(new sp.cies and sp.cies comp.exes needing taxonomic p.rtitioning, e.g. sp.itting of sp.cies group.). Two sp.cies recorded from the area were rarely rep.esented in museum collections. Major distributional and elevational range extensions were recorded for several sp.cies. Comp.rison with Luzon’s other mountain ranges showed that the Caraballo Mountain Range is similar, in terms of sp.cies comp.sition, to the northern Sierra Madre and Cordillera Mountain Ranges. The result of this survey showed the Caraballo Mountain Range and its mountains as a p.ssible new center of herp.tofaunal diversity and endemicity within Luzon. The imp.rtance of the Caraballo Mountain Range as an imp.rtant biogeograp.ic link merits further study.

Introduction: Living and working conditions are increasingly conducive to a sedentary lifestyle. Many administrative workers are exp.sed daily to long hours of work in a p.olonged sitting p.sition, which can favour the onset of diabetes. The aim of the study was to determine the p.evalence and factors associated with diabetes among workers at a town hall in Benin in 2019. Methods: This was a descrip.ive cross-sectional study conducted from December 2018 to January 2019. Exhaustive recruitment was carried out. Data were collected during a face-to-face interview, using a standardized questionnaire including socio-p.ofessional factors, behavioral factors, anthrop.metric measurements, and blood glucose. Frequencies were calculated. Frequencies were comp.red using the chi-square and Fisher tests. The significance threshold was 5%. Results: A total of 85 workers were included. Their mean age was 41.55 ± 9.82 years, with a sex ratio of 6.1. = The p.evalence of diabetes was estimated at 8.2% [95% CI: 3.38 - 16.23%] and 3 of the workers knew they had diabetes. A family history of diabetes was associated with diabetes (p.= 0.032). Occup.tionally, 10.77% of p.rmanent emp.oyees had diabetes, comp.red with 0.0% of non-p.rmanent emp.oyees;12.50% of emp.oyees with at least 10 years’ seniority had diabetes, comp.red with 7.25% of those with less seniority;19.05% of emp.oyees who sp.nt at least 6 hours a day sitting at work had diabetes, comp.red with 4.69% of those who sp.nt less time sitting. Conclusion: p.eventing chronic disease in the workp.ace is p.rt of p.omoting workers’ health, and must take into account occup.tional factors such as p.olonged sitting.

Agronomic p.rformance, Stability Analysis and Evaluation of Anthracnose Disease Resistance of Common Bean Lines Derived by Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in Uganda

The p.esent study focused on evaluating the agronomic p.rformance, stability, and anthracnose resistance of common bean lines derived through Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in Uganda. Eight marker-assisted selection (MAS) backcross-derived bush bean lines with red seed typ.s, alongside two checks, were evaluated in a randomized comp.ete block design rep.icated two times in five locations for three consecutive crop.growing seasons in 2021 and 2022. The study aimed to identify lines with both high stable yields and enhanced resistance to anthracnose disease for p.tential release and utilization in future bean varietal develop.ent in Uganda. Agronomic traits, including days to 50% flowering, days to 90% p.ysiological maturity, seed yield, seed yield comp.nents, and anthracnose disease reaction under natural infestation were assessed. The resp.nse to anthracnose disease was further assessed using six isolates of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum rep.esenting six different races. Results indicated that the agronomic p.rformances of the MAS backcross-derived bush bean lines were statistically comp.rable to the recurrent p.rent NABE14. Sp.cifically, six lines exhibited statistically equal to or higher p.rformance than NABE14 in terms of seed yield, total number of seeds and number of p.ds p.r p.ant. The combined analysis of variance for seed yield showed significant (p.Co-4p.2p. and Co-5 anthracnose resistance genes in the derived line. In conclusion, UGKT-B157-4, identified as the best-p.rforming and stable genotyp., demonstrates p.omise for release and use in future bean varietal develop.ent in Uganda, offering a combination of high yields and enhanced anthracnose disease resistance. The study p.ovides valuable insights into the p.tential of Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in imp.oving common bean varieties in the region.

Realizing the full p.tential of ultrahigh-intensity lasers for p.rticle and radiation generation will require multi-beam arrangements due to technology ***,we investigate how to op.imize their coup.ing with solid ***,we show that overlap.ing two intense lasers in a mirror-like configuration onto a solid with a large p.ep.asma can greatly imp.ove the generation of hot electrons at the target front and ion acceleration at the target *** underlying mechanisms are analyzed through multidimensional p.rticle-in-cell simulations,revealing that the self-induced magnetic fields driven by the two laser beams at the target front are suscep.ible to reconnection,which is one p.ssible mechanism to boost electron *** addition,the resistive magnetic field generated during the transp.rt of the hot electrons in the target bulk tends to imp.ove their *** simulations also indicate that such effects can be further enhanced by overlap.ing more than two laser beams.

In Sep.ember 1997, a 15-m firn core was recovered from an elevation of 7 000 m a. s.l. from the Dasuop. Glacier in the central Himalayas. The analysis of δ18O values and major ion (Ca2+ , Mg2+ , NH4+ , SO2- and NO3-) concentrations shows that average annual accumulation is 0.75 m (water equivalent) in the Dasuop. firn core.
