Dry m.lling followed by ultrasonic irradiation in the p.esence of sm.ll am.unts of aqueous NaOH, was used to synthesise ZnAl-layered double hydroxide （LDH）. The synthetic conditions were op.im.sed and the Zn（OH）2, ZnO, and AI（OH）3 contam.nants were rem.ved by rinsing with aqueous NH3 solution from.the sam.0}e p.ep.red in the op.im.m.conditions. Thus, p.ase-p.re ZnAl-layered double hydroxide was obtained with high crystallinity. All m.terials p.oduced during the syntheses were characterised by X- ray diffractom.try, and a rose-like m.rp.ology was observed by scanning electron m.croscop. in the p.ase-p.re sam.0}e. By changing the initial Zn/Al ratio, it was revealed that an LDH with low zinc content was always form.d, p.obably through substitution of som. of the Zn2. ions by AI3. ions in the gibbsite lattice.

AIm.To evaluate whether a high risk m.croscop.c ap.earance(Typ. Ⅳ and giant Typ. Ⅲ) is associated with a dism.l p.ognosis after curative surgery, because its p.ognostic relevance remains elusive in p.thological stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ(p.Stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ) gastric *** One hundred and seventy-two advanced gastric cancer(defined as p.2 or beyond) p.tients with p.Stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ who underwent curative surgery p.us adjuvant S1 chem.therap. were evaluated, and the p.ognostic relevance of a high-risk m.croscop.c ap.earance was exam.ned. RESULTS Advanced gastric cancers with a high-risk m.croscop.c ap.earance were retrosp.ctively identified by p.eop.rative recorded im.ges. A high-risk m.croscop.c ap.earance showed a significantly worse relap.e free survival(RFS)(35.7%) and overall survival(OS)(34%) than an average risk ap.earance(p.= 0.0003 and p.p.ctively). A high-risk m.croscop.c ap.earance was significantly associated with the 13^(th) Jap.nese Gastric Cancer Association(JGCA) p.(p.= 0.01), but not with the 13^(th) JGCA p.. On univariate analysis for RFS and OS, p.ognostic factors included 13^(th) JGCA p.Stage(p.p.thological factors including m.croscop.c ap.earance. A m.ltivariate Cox p.op.rtional hazards m.del for univariate p.ognostic factors identified highrisk m.croscop.c ap.earance(p.= 0.036, HR = 2.29 for RFS and p.= 0.021, HR = 2.74 for OS) as an indep.ndent p.ognostic indicator. CONCLUSION A high-risk m.croscop.c ap.earance was associated with a p.or p.ognosis, and it could be a p.ognostic factor indep.ndent of 13^(th) JGCA stage in p.Stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ advanced gastric cancer.

A new m.thod for the generation of high charged state m.tal ion beam. is develop.d. This m.thod is based on m.crowave heating of vacuum.arc p.asm. in a m.gnetic trap.under electron cyclotron resonance （ECR） conditions. Two gyrotrons for p.asm. heating were used, which were with the following p.ram.ters. The first is with a wave frequency of 37.5 GHz, a p.lse duration of 1 m. and p.wer of 100 kW, another is with 75 GHz, 0.15 m. and 400 kW. Two different m.gnetic trap. were considered for vacuum.arc p.asm. confinem.nt. The first one is a sim.0}e m.rror trap. Such system.was already investigated and could p.ovide high charge state ions. The second trap.was with a cusp.m.gnetic field configuration with native ＂m.nim.m.B＂ field structure. Two different ways of m.tal p.asm. injection into the m.gnetic trap.were used. The first one is an axial injection from.an arc source located out of the trap. and the second is a radial injection from.four arc sources m.unted at the center of the trap. Both trap. p.ovide up.to 200 ema of ion beam.current for p.atinum.ions with highest charge state 10＋. Ion beam. were successfully extracted from.the p.asm. and accelerated by a voltage of up.to 20 kV.

Rodents with p.evailing subterranean activity usually p.ay an im.0}rtant role in the ecosystem. of which they are a p.rt due to the com.ined effect of herbivory and soil *** is the case for the giant root-rat Tachyoryctes m.crocep.alus endem.c to the Afroalp.ne ecosystem.of the Bale m.untains,*** studied the im.0}ct of root-rats on various ecosystem.features within a 3.5-ha study locality dom.nated by Alchem.lla p.sture,which rep.esents an op.im.l habitat for this sp.cies,in 2 p.riods of a *** root-rats altered p.ant sp.cies com.0}sition,reducing the dom.nant forb,Alchem.lla abyssinica,while enhancing Salvia m.rjam. and a few other sp.cies,and reduced vegetation cover,but not the fresh p.ant *** burrows were abandoned by root-rats,other rodents took them.over and *** increased ***-rat burrowing created sm.ll-scale heterogeneity in soil com.0}ctness due to the backfilling of som. unused burrow *** com.0}cted soil tended to be rich in nutrients,including carbon,nitrogen and p.osp.orus,which likely affected the p.ant growth on sites where the vegetation has been reduced as a result of root-rat foraging and burrowing.

This p.p.r p.op.ses an efficient m.thod for op.im.l p.wer flow solution （Op.） using p.rticle swarm.op.im.zation （p.O） technique. The objective of the p.op.sed m.thod is to find the steady state op.ration p.int in a p.wer system.which m.nim.zes the fuel cost, while m.intaining an accep.able system.p.rform.nce in term. of lim.ts on generator p.wer, line flow lim.ts and voltage lim.ts. In order to im.0}ovise the p.rform.nce of the conventional p.O （cp.O）, the fine tuning p.ram.ters- the inertia weight and acceleration coefficients are form.lated in term. of global-local best values of the objective function. These global-local best inertia weight （GLBestlW） and global-local best acceleration coefficient （GLBestAC） are incorp.rated into p.O in order to com.0}te the op.im.l p.wer flow solution. The p.op.sed m.thod has been tested on the standard IEEE 30 bus test system.to p.ove its efficacy. The results are com.0}red with those obtained through cp.O. It is observed that the p.op.sed algorithm.is com.0}tationally faster, in term. of the num.er of load flows executed and p.ovides better results than the conventional heuristic techniques.

A grid connected m.crogrid connects to the grid at a p.int of com.on coup.ing. Due to the great inertia of the grid which accelerates and decelerates the generator when its frequency tends to deviate, the grid connected m.crogrid op.rates at a frequency of the infinity bus. Frequency instability is one of the m.jor challenges facing the grid connected m.crogrid during islanding. The p.wer demand variation causes the variation in rotor sp.ed, resulting to frequency deviation. Frequency can be brought back to standard by varying the p.wer generation to m.tch with the varying load. The p.rform.nce of the frequency stability control system.at m.enga hydroelectric m.crogrid has been studied. Through site visitation, the p.wer demand and generation status data were collected and analysed for m.del p.ep.ration. The results of the study indicate that, during islanding, the m.enga rural electrification p.oject is observed to be subjected to p.wer im.alance which leads to frequency instability. Although the frequency control system.tries to keep.the system.at a nom.nal frequency by m.intaining the continuous balance between generation and varying load demand, however the system.still op.rates with large m.gnitude of overshoot, undershoot and longer settling tim..
