Rising temp.rature and heat stress risks in the changing climate scenario might p.tentially affect workers globally,esp.cially the ones with strenuous workload in trop.cal *** used a cross-sectional study design to p.ofile the heat exp.sures of-1900 workers from eight industrial sectors using a Ques Temp.Wet Bulb Globe Temp.rature(WBGT)monitor,quantified select heat-strain indicators viz.,rise in Core Body Temp.rature,Sweat Rate,and Urine Sp.cific Gravity and evaluated the p.rceived health imp.cts of heat stress using a structured *** exp.sures(average WBGT:30.1±2.6℃)exceeded the Threshold Limit Value for 67%workers and was p.sitively associated with the rise in Core Body Temp.rature>1℃ in 13%and elevated Urine Sp.cific Gravity>1.020 in 9%***-related health concerns were rep.rted by 86%workers,and the heat-exp.sed workers had 2.3 times higher odds of adverse health outcomes comp.red to unexp.sed workers(p.0.0001).Exp.sure to higher WBGT and adverse renal health among salt-p.n workers were significantly associated(p.0.004),and steel workers had 9% p.evalence of kidney *** p.esented clearly p.ints to heat stress as a health and p.oductivity risk factor that could have long-term and irreversible health ***-dep.h assessments are urgently needed to develop.scientifically sound p.eventative interventions and p.otective labor p.licies to avert the adverse occup.tional health and p.oductivity consequences for millions of workers globally,thereby aiding p.verty reduction.

An facile and efficient p.otocol for the synthesis of 13‐aryl‐indeno[1,2‐b]nap.tha[1,2‐e]p.ran‐ 12(13H)‐ ones has been develop.d that p.oceeds via the one‐p.t three‐comp.nent sequential reaction of an aromatic aldehyde with β‐nap.thol and 2H‐indene‐1,3‐dione under solvent‐free conditions in the p.esence of a p.ly(4‐vinylp.ridinium)hydrogen sulfate(p.4‐Vp.)HSO4) catalyst. The catalyst can be reused several times, making this p.ocedure facile, p.actical, and sustainable. The simp.e exp.rimental p.ocedure, solvent‐free reaction conditions, use of an inexp.nsive catalyst, short react time, and excellent yields are some of the major advantages of this methodology.

The develop.ent of medium for the p.oduction of cutinase from p.eudomonas cep.cia NRRL B 2320 was carried out using p.ackett-Burman exp.rimental design followed by central comp.site design. The medium comp.nents were screened by p.ackett-Burman exp.rimental design which suggested that cutin, p.p.one, KCl and MgSO4·7H2O have influenced the cutinase p.oduction significantly with very high confidence levels. The concentration levels of these four comp.nents were op.imized using 24 full factorial central comp.site design. An op.imum combination of 10.06 g·L-1 of cutin, 17.77 g·L-1 of p.p.one, 0.635 g·L-1 of KCl and 5.455 g·L-1 of MgSO4·7H2O in the medium gave a maximum cutinase activity of 336 U·mL-1. An overall 2 fold increase in the p.oduction of cutinase was observed in the op.imized medium. Growth and p.oduction of cutinase from p. cep.cia NRRL B 2320 have been studied in shake flask and batch bioreactor. Time course of cell growth and enzyme p.oduction was fitted to the existing kinetic models rep.rted in the literature to estimate the biokinetic p.rameters. These models suggested that the p.oduction of cutinase is growth associated in shake flask and it is a mixed growth typ. in a batch bioreactor.

Access control has made a long way from 1960s. With the advent changes of technologies p.rtaining to location transp.rency in storage of data, there arises different access control scenarios. Cloud storage, the p.edominant storage that is being in use currently, also p.ves way to various access control p.oblems. Though there are various access control mechanisms such as RBAC, ABAC, they are designed on the user’s p.rsp.ctive such as the role held by the user or other attributes assigned to the user. A new access control mechanism called object relationship.based access control (RoBAC) has been develop.d based on the relations held among the users. The p.licy decision of access control is based on the relationship.among the classes followed in the Java p.ogramming. Results have shown that this model best suits various scenarios in the cloud environment, and it also shows that the time for making decision either to allow or to deny is reduced comp.red to the existing system.

Byssochlamys fulva AM130,a novel strain of filamentous fungus,could p.oduce ethanol from glucose,xylose,and alkali p.etreated rice straw(p.S),while the efficiencies were very low with *** p.oduction of 11.84 g/L was attained by the fungus when grown in glucose,indicating that the limitations while growing on p.S were related to low hydrolytic *** p.ofiling of the fungus showed 365 IU/ml of beta-glucosidase and 89 IU/ml of xylanase activity,while endoglucanase and filter p.p.r activity were negligible,which accounts for the low hydrolytic *** fungus could survive for extended p.riods under oxygen-limited conditions and p.oduce *** fungal mycelia could also be used for rep.ated cycles of anaerobic fermentation,wherein the ethanol yield imp.oved with each consecutive cycle.

Background and Aims:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common chronic liver disease and is closely related to metabolic syndrome and its risk ***,ep.demiological studies have rep.rted NAFLD p.evalence rates of 5%to 30%dep.nding on geograp.ical *** ep.demiological data suggest a p.ogressively increasing p.evalence of metabolic risk factors in Singap.re,there are limited data about NAFLD p.r se in the *** aim to exp.ore the p.evalence and p.rcep.ions of NAFLD in ***:Attendees at a gastroenterology p.blic forum were enrolled in a cross-sectional observational study evaluating demograp.ic,anthrop.metric and clinical *** diagnosis of NAFLD was based on sonograp.ic *** syndrome was defined according to International Diabetes Federation *** of NAFLD were exp.ored using a self-administered survey ***:A total of 227 subjects were recruited,with NAFLD being diagnosed in 40%of the *** to those without NAFLD,subjects with NAFLD had higher male p.ep.nderance,older age,higher body mass index,waist circumference and more metabolic syndrome(all p.0.05).Although 71.2%subjects had heard about NAFLD before,only 25.4%of them felt that they were at risk of *** resp.nses were observed in subjects with no metabolic risk factors relative to subjects with one or more metabolic risk factors(p.0.05).Of note,75.6%of subjects with one or more metabolic risk factors did not think that they were at risk of ***:Our study suggests a significant local p.evalence of NAFLD in the community including non-obese *** the tendency to underestimate risk of NAFLD,enhanced p.blic education about NAFLD is warranted to imp.ove understanding.

Background: Increasing workload in consultant-led clinics often means p.tients to wait a long time for clinic ap.ointments. To address this, there is an increasing trend in develop.ng nurse-led clinics across many sp.cialities in the National Health Service. This study aims to assess whether the imp.ementation of a nurse-led clinic in thoracic aortic surgery will op.imise the utilisation of health care services and imp.ove overall p.tient satisfaction. Methods: 80 follow-up.p.tients were asked to comp.ete a questionnaire following their ap.ointment in an aortic clinic, which was led either by a consultant (n = 40) or an aortic sp.cialist nurse (n = 40). All p.tients seen by a nurse in the clinic were assessed by a consultant surgeon p.ior to the clinic for suitability. No new p.tients were seen by a nurse. Any p.tient with an aortic dimension of 5 cm or greater was seen by the consultant. If there were any comp.icated clinical features, the p.tient was seen in the consultant-led clinic. p.tients were asked questions about their time sp.nt with the resp.ctive health care p.ofessionals across 12 categories (p.nctuality, p.ep.redness, understanding of concerns, clarity of sp.ech, listening, resp.ct, exp.aining, letting you talk, p.tting you at ease, emotional sup.ort, advice and advice for next follow-up.. p.tients rated each category using an ordinal scale from 0 - 10. Results: p.tient scores were greater in nurse-led clinics comp.red to consultant-led clinics across a number of categories although only p.nctuality reached significance (mean 9.2 vs. 6.8, p.0.05). Conclusion: p.tients were highly satisfied with the nurse-led clinic across all categories, with greater satisfaction for p.nctuality. These findings suggest that a nurse-led clinic can be imp.emented for the management of carefully selected thoracic aortic surgery p.tient without reduction in p.tient satisfaction.

Hydrograp.ical p.rameters and p.ytop.ankton assemblages were determined along the p.ndicherry, p.rangip.ttai and Nagap.ttinam coastal waters, southeast coast of India. All the hydrograp.ical p.rameters such as sea surface temp.rature, salinity, p.H, total alkalinity, dissolved oxygen and nutrients like nitrate, nitrite, inorganic p.osp.ate and reactive silicate, chlorop.yll a and p.ytop.ankton assemblages were studied for a p.riod of five months(May, August, Sep.ember 2010, March and November 2011). Over 121 sp.cies of p.ytop.ankton rep.esented by 93 sp.cies of diatoms, 16 sp.cies of dinoflagellates, 9 sp.cies of blue-green algae, 2 sp.cies of greens and 1 sp.cies of silicoflagellate were recorded. High p.ytop.ankton sp.cies diversity was found in March 2011 when salinity and nitrate concentrations were low and reactive silicate and inorganic p.osp.ates were moderate. Sp.cies diversity was low during May 2010 when increased sea surface temp.rature, salinity and low nutrients availability were observed. Coscinodiscus centralis, Diatoma vulgaris and p.oboscia alata were dominant, esp.cially Coscinodiscus sp. distributed in all stations whereas Skeletonema costatum, Odontella sinensis and Ditylum brightwellii were abundant in August and Sep.ember 2010. From p.incip.l comp.nent analysis and multip.e regression analysis, it is evident that variables like sea surface temp.rature and dissolved oxygen are the most imp.rtant factors influencing the seasonal p.ttern of p.ytop.ankton p.p.lation.
