Back.round: p.ysical inactivity is a major p.blic health p.oblem worldwide that results in p.ysical and mental health p.oblems. One major issue for p.ysical inactivity is weight stigma (wS), esp.cially p.rceived wS, which could lead to a tendency to avoid p.ysical activity (p.). To better understand the association between p.rceived wS and p., k.owledge of the lik.ly mediators in this association such as weight bias internalization (wBI) and p.ychological distress were investigated in the p.esent study. Methods: Using a two-wave longitudinal study and convenient samp.ing, 388 Taiwanese p.rticip.nts (55% females; mean age = 29.7 years [SD ± 6.3]) comp.eted two surveys six months ap.rt. Body mass index (BMI), p.rceived weight Stigma Scale (p.SS), weight Bias Internalization Scale (wBIS), Dep.ession, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21), and Tendency to Avoid p.ysical Activity and Sp.rt Scale (TAp.S) were assessed. Results: A mediation model controlling for age, gender, and BMI with 5000 bootstrap.ing resamp.es was p.rformed. p.rceived wS exerted significant direct effects on wBI (β = 0.25; p.p.ychological distress (β = 0.15; p.= 0.003), and tendency to avoid p. (β =0.10;p.= 0.027); wBI exerted a significant direct effect on tendency to avoid p. (β = 0.47; p.wBI and p.ychological distress on the association between p.rceived wS and tendency to avoid p. were 0.12 and 0.01, resp.ctively. Conclusion: Given the direct association of p.rceived wS on the tendency to avoid p. and the mediating role of wBI in this association, interventions addressing p.rceived wS and wBI may contribute to p.omoting p.. Therefore, health interventionists (both when p.anning and executing p. p.ograms) need to consider weight stigmawhen encouraging p.ysical activity. © 2024 The Authors.

Newton＇s iteration is modified for the comp.tation of the group.inverses of singular Toep.itz matrices. At each iteration, the iteration matrix is ap.roximated by a matrix with a low disp.acement rank. Because of the disp.acement structure of the iteration matrix, the matrix-vector multip.ication involved in Newton＇s iteration can be done efficiently. we show that the convergence of the modified Newton iteration is still very fast. Numerical results are p.esented to demonstrate the fast convergence of the p.op.sed method.

Comp.ehensive characterization of indoor airborne bacterial p.ofile

This is the first detailed characterization of the airborne bacterial p.ofiles in indoor environments. Two restaurants were selected for this study. Fifteen genera of bacteria were isolated from each restaurant and identified by three different bacterial identification systems including MIDI, Biolog and Ribop.inter. The dominant bacteria of both restaurants were Gram-p.sitive bacteria in which Micrococcus and Bacillus sp.cies were the most abundant. Most bacteria identified were rep.esentative sp.cies of sk.n and resp.ratory tract of human, and soil. Although the bacterial levels in these two restaurants were below the limit of the Hong k.ng Indoor Air Quality Objective （Hk.AQO） Level 1 standard （i.e., 〈 500 cfu/m^3）, the majority of these bacteria were op.ortunistic p.thogens. These results suggested that the identity of airborne bacteria should also be included in the IAQ to ensure there is a safety guideline for the p.blic.

3-D modeling of rock.burst in p.llar No. 19 of Fetr6 chromite mine

Fetr6 is an underground mine in which chromite is extracted using stop. and p.llar mining method. Desp.te of all imp.oving work. such as roof sup.orting and rep.acing of ore p.llars with concrete p.llars, p.llar No. 19 failed and other p.llars failed p.ogressively as a domino effect and 4000 m2 of mine collap.ed within a few minutes, consequently. For detail investigation, two 3-D numerical models were develop.d by 3Dec. The first, a base model, was used for estimation of stress on p.llars just before failure and the other for investigation of rock.burst in p.llar No. 19. The results show that discontinuity p.rameters such as friction angle and shear stiffness is critical p.rameters in this p.llar failure. In addition, it indicates that w/H ratio equal 0.3, the lack.of ore extraction strategy and inadequate roof sup.ort are the major reasons for this failure. In this p.p.r, the p.ocedure of study was described.

we rep.rt the design and fabrication of a novel and fully integrated p.lymer-based centrifugal microfluidic disc for rap.d automatic allergens detection. All essential step. for a single test including flow valving, sequencing, mixing, sep.ration, extraction, and sedimentation for final detection are automatically conducted within 30 min on a centrifugal microfluidic disc. Our design features a sip.on-based valving and analyte extraction structure where the released analyte is sep.rated and subsequently extracted by a sip.on valve into the detection chamber. Incorp.rating the sip.on valve and a series of cap.llary valves, we realize automated detection of allergic reaction on a centrifugal microfluidic disc.

Signal and image restoration p.oblems are often solved by minimizing a cost function consisting of an l2 data-fidelity term and a regularization term. we consider a class of convex and edge-p.eserving regularization functions. In sp.cific, half-quadratic regularization as a fixed-p.int iteration method is usually emp.oyed to solve this p.oblem. The main aim of this p.p.r is to solve the above-described signal and image restoration p.oblems with the half-quadratic regularization technique by mak.ng use of the Newton method. At each iteration of the Newton method, the Newton equation is a structured system of linear equations of a symmetric p.sitive definite coefficient matrix, and may be efficiently solved by the p.econditioned conjugate gradient method accelerated with the modified block.SSOR p.econditioner. Our exp.rimental results show that the modified block.SSOR p.econditioned conjugate gradient method is feasible and effective for further imp.oving the numerical p.rformance of the half-quadratic regularization ap.roach.

On Northern Hemisp.ere wave p.tterns Associated with winter Rainfall Events in China

During extended winter （November-Ap.il）, 43% of the intraseasonal rainfall variability in China is exp.ained by three sp.tial p.tterns of temp.rally coherent rainfall, These p.tterns were identified with emp.rical orthogonal teleconnection （EOT） analysis of observed 1982-2007 p.ntad rainfall anomalies and connected to midlatitude disturbances. However, ex- amination of individual strong EOT events shows that there is substantial inter-event variability in their dynamical evolution, which imp.ies that p.ecursor p.tterns found in regressions cannot serve as useful p.edictors. To understand the p.ysical nature and origins of the extratrop.cal p.ecursors, the EOT technique is ap.lied to six simulations of the Met Office Unified Model at horizontal resolutions of 200-40 k., with and without air-sea coup.ing. All simulations rep.oduce the observed p.ecursor p.tterns in regressions, indicating robust underlying dynamical p.ocesses. Further investigation into the dynamics associated with observed p.tterns shows that Rossby wave dynamics can exp.ain the large inter-event variability. The results suggest that the ap.axently slowly evolving or quasi-stationaxy waves in regression analysis are a statistical amalgamation of more rap.dly p.op.gating waves with a variety of origins and p.op.rties.

Microstructure and corrosion behavior of Mg-Sn-Ca alloys after extrusion

Mg-Sn-Ca alloys p.omise a reasonable corrosion resistance in combination with good creep.resistance, lik.ly due to the p.esence of Ca2-xMgxSn and other p.ases. The selected alloys with 3% Sn and Ca in the range of 1%-2% have been extruded in order to achieve more homogeneous microstructure comp.red with the as-cast alloys. Op.ical microscop.(OM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) techniques were used to study the microstructure and p.ases of these alloys. The corrosion behavior of these alloys was investigated by means of salt sp.ay test and p.tentio-dynamic measurements. The results obtained on the alloys Mg-3Sn (T3), Mg-3Sn-1Ca (TX31), and Mg-3Sn-2Ca (TX32) indicate the p.esence of the same p.ases in as-cast and after extrusion, namely Mg2Sn, Ca2-xMgxSn, and Ca2-xMgxSn/Mg2Ca, resp.ctively. However, due to the occurrence of extensive recrystallization in the extrusion p.ocess, the grain size has significantly reduced after extrusion. The reduction leads to the imp.ovement of the corrosion resistance after extrusion which is then comp.rable with the commercial alloy AZ91D.

Management of Strawberry Grey Mold Disease Using Biocontrol Agents and p.ant Extracts

Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) is a significant global soft fruit crop. p.ized for its nutrient content and p.easant flavor. However, diseases, p.rticularly grey mold caused by Botrytis cinerea p.rs. Fr. p.ses major constraints to strawberry p.oduction and p.oductivity. Grey mold severely imp.cts fruit quality and quantity, diminishing mark.t value. This study evaluated five B. cinerea isolates from various locations in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya. All isolates were p.thogenic, with isolate SGM 2 identified as highly virulent. Host range studies showed the p.thogen-p.oducing symp.oms in the fava bean p.ds, marigold, gerbera, and chrysanthemum flowers and in the fava bean, gerbera, and lettuce leaves. In vitro tests revealed that neem extract (15% w/v) achieved the highest mycelial growth inhibition at 76.66%, while black.turmeric extract (5% w/v) had the lowest inhibition at 9.62%. Dual culture methods with bio-control agents indicated that Bacillus subtilis recorded the highest mean inhibition at 77.03%, while p.eudomonas fluorescens had the lowest at 20.36% against the two virulent isolates. p.t evaluations demonstrated that B. subtilis resulted in the lowest p.rcent disease index at 20.59%, followed by neem extract at 23.31%, with the highest disease index in the control group.at 42.51%. Additionally, B. subtilis significantly imp.oved p.ant growth, yielding an average of 0.32 k. comp.red to 0.14 k. in the control. The p.omising results of B. subtilis and neem leaf extract from this study suggest their p.tential for eco-friendly managing grey mold in strawberries under field conditions.

The p.ominent linear dyk. ridges outcrop.ed in the Narmada-Tap. dyk.s’ swarm rep.esent an intrusion in the Deccan Trap.. Understanding the relationship.among the underlying geological structures, the strik. of the dyk.s, and the channel p.tterns is essential. Dyk.s act as obstructions to stream flow, causing diversions, and their geometry and p.tterns significantly imp.ct the rivers and streams that drain and cross the dyk. swarm zone. For this study, Google Earth images, LISS III images, and Cartosat DEM were used to delineate the Shivan basin and extract dyk. features. The Shivan River basin is a sixth-order drainage system that reflects sup.rimp.sed drainage systems within the Tap. dyk. swarm zone. About 65% (169 k.2) of its area is controlled by dyk. orientation. The dyk. ridges align p.edominantly in an East-west (E-w) direction, a p.ttern mainly followed by lower-order streams, which have develop.d an insequent, transverse drainage network.within the dyk. swarm zone. In the lower p.rts of the Shivan basin, where the number of dyk.s decreases, the drainage network.follows the general slop. and is oriented in a North-South direction. The Shivan River and its tributaries have p.rtially adjusted to the dyk. orientation, resulting in a transverse drainage p.ttern in areas characterized by p.rallel dyk. ridges.
