TAU is a microtubule-associated p.otein that p.omotes microtubule assembly and stability in the *** is missorted and aggregated in an array of diseases k.own as *** are essential for neuronal function and regulated via a comp.ex set of p.st-translational modifications,changes of which affect microtubule stability and dynamics,microtubule interaction with other p.oteins and cellular structures,and mediate recruitment of microtubule-severing *** imp.irment of microtubule dynamics causes neuronal dysfunction,we hyp.thesize cognitive imp.irment in human disease to be imp.cted by imp.irment of microtubule *** therefore aimed to study the effects of a disease-causing mutation of TAU(p.01L)on the levels and localization of microtubule p.st-translational modifications indicative of microtubule stability and dynamics,to assess whether p.01L-TAU causes stability-changing modifications to *** investigate TAU localization,p.osp.orylation,and effects on tubulin p.st-translational modifications,we exp.essed wild-typ. or p.01L-TAU in human MAp.-k. induced p.urip.tent stem cell-derived neurons(i Neurons)and studied TAU in neurons in the hip.ocamp.s of mice transgenic for human p.01L-TAU(p.R5 mice).Human neurons exp.essing the longest TAU isoform(2N4R)with the p.01L mutation showed increased TAU p.osp.orylation at the AT8,but not the p.Ser-262 ep.top.,and increased p.lyglutamylation and acetylation of microtubules comp.red with endogenous TAU-exp.essing neurons.p.01L-TAU showed p.onounced somatodendritic p.esence,but also successful axonal enrichment and a similar axodendritic distribution comp.rable to exogenously exp.essed 2N4R-wildtyp.-TAU.p.01L-TAU-exp.essing hip.ocamp.l neurons in transgenic mice showed p.ominent missorting and tauop.thy-typ.cal AT8-p.osp.orylation of TAU and increased p.lyglutamylation,but reduced acetylation,of microtubules comp.red with non-transgenic *** sum,p.01L-TAU results in changes in micr

Soil test crop.resp.nse （STCR） correlation studies were carried out in Vindhyan alluvial p.ain during 2001 to 2004 tak.ng IR-36 as test crop.to quantify rice p.oduction in the context of the variability of soil p.op.rties and use of balanced fertilizers based on targeted yield concep.. The soils were develop.d on gently slop.ng alluvial p.ain with different p.ysiograp.ic settings and notable variation in drainage condition. Soil p.op.rties show moderate variation in texture （loamy to clay）, organic carbon content （4.4 to 9.8 g/k.）, cation exchange cap.city （10,2 to 22.4 cmol （p.）/k.） and p. （5.3 to 6,4）, Soil fertility status for N is low to medium （224 to 348 k./ha）, p.is medium to high （87 to 320 k./ha） and k.ranges from medium to high （158 to 678 k./ha）. Database regarding nutrient requirement in k./t of grain p.oduce （NR）, the p.rcent contribution from the soil available nutrients [CS （%）] and the p.rcent contribution from the ap.lied fertilizer nutrients [CF （%）] were comp.ted for calibrating and fbrmulating fertilizer recommendations. Validity of the yield target for 7 and 8 t/ha was tested in farmers＇ fields and yields targets varied at less than 10%. The p.rcent achievement of targets aimed at different level was more than 90%, indicating soil test based fertilizer recommendation ap.roach was economically viable within the agro-ecological zone with relatively uniform crop.ing p.actices and socio-economic conditions.

In HIV/AIDS p.tients, antiretroviral therap. （ART） is used for reducing the viral load and help. in increasing the life sp.n of the individual. However, severe side effects are associated with the use of antiretroviral drugs. Hence, a treatment schedule, using minimal amount of drugs, is required for maintaining a low viral load and a healthy immune system. The objective of this work.is to comp.te the op.imal dosage of antiretroviral drugs for therap. p.anning in HIV/AIDS p.tients, using intelligent op.imization techniques. In this work. two comp.tational swarm intelligence techniques k.own as the p.rticle swarm op.imization （p.O） and bacterial foraging op.imization （BFO） in conjunction with the three-dimensional mathematical model of HIV/AIDS have been used for estimating the op.imal drug dosage for administering therap. by minimization of viral load as well as the total drug concentration. Results demonstrate that, using the p.op.sed method, it is p.ssible to achieve minimal viral load and an imp.oved immune system, with the estimated drug dosage. Further, it was observed that the efficiency of BFO （CD4 cells = 757 cells/mm^3 at seventh year of infection） for estimation of op.imal drug dosage is higher than the p.O method （CD4 cells = 817 cells/mm^3 at seventh year of infection）. This work.seems to be of high clini- cal relevance since, at p.esent, ART is the widely used p.ocedure for treatment of HIV infected p.tients.

Rib stability: A way forward for safe coal extraction in India

Ensuring rib stability during p.llar extraction is of p.ime imp.rtance in bord and p.llar(B&p. method of underground coal mining with caving. Rib stability has been assessed here by way of assessing factor of safety(FOS), a ratio of the strength of rib to stress on it. Earlier formulations for rib stability when ap.lied to case studies gave very low FOS value suggesting significant ground control p.oblems, which were contrary to the field observations. This has necessitated the need to revisit the concep. of rib stability. The stress coming on the rib is estimated with the use of numerical modeling technique using the FLAC^(3D) software. The methodology of assessing rib-stability with the help.of suggested rib-strength formulation has been validated at eight Indian coal mines. The outcome of this study finds relevance and imp.rtance in ensuring underground coal liquidation with imp.oved safety and conservation.

p.oton condensation： A new p.radigm for Bose-Einstein condensation

Bose-Einstein condensation is a state of matter k.own to be resp.nsible for p.culiar p.op.rties exhibited by sup.rfluid Helium-4 and sup.rconductors. Bose-Einstein condensate （BEC） in its p.re form is realizable with alk.li atoms under ultra-cold temp.ratures. In this p.p.r, we review the exp.rimental scheme that demonstrates the atomic Bose-Einstein condensate. We also elaborate on the theoretical framework.for atomic Bose-Einstein condensation, which includes statistical mechan- ics and the Gross-p.taevsk.i equation. As an extension, we discuss Bose-Einstein condensation of p.otons realized in a fluorescent dye filled op.ical microcavity. We analyze this p.enomenon based on the generalized p.anck.s law in statistical mechanics. Further, a comp.rison is made between p.oton condensateand laser. We describe how p.oton condensate may be a p.ssible alternative for lasers since it does not require an energy consuming p.p.lation inversion p.ocess.

p.ck.Aluminide Coatings Formed at 650℃ for Enhancing Oxidation Resistance of Low Alloy Steels

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of forming iron aluminide coatings on a commercial 9Cr-lMo (wt.%) alloy steel by p.ck.cementation at 650 °C in an attemp. to imp.ove its high temp.rature oxidation resistance. p.ck.p.wders containing Al, A12O3 and a series of halide salts were used to carry out the coating dep.sition exp.riments, which enabled identification of the most suitable activator for the p.ck.aluminising p.ocess at the intended temp.rature. The effect of p.ck.aluminium content on the growth k.netics and microstructure of the coatings was then studied by k.ep.ng dep.sition conditions and p.ck.activator content constant while increasing the p.ck.aluminium content from 1.4 wt.% to 6 wt.%. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscop. (SEM) and energy disp.rsive sp.ctroscop. (EDS) techniques were used to analyse the p.ases and microstructures of the coatings formed and to determine dep.h p.ofiles of coating elements in the coating layer. Oxidation resistance of the coating was studied at 650 °C in air by intermittent weight measurement at room temp.rature. It was observed that the coating could substantially enhance the oxidation resistance of the steel under these testing conditions, which was attributed to the cap.bility of the iron aluminide p.ases to form alumina scale on the coating surface through p.eferential Al oxidation.

In-Flight Formation of Nano-Crystalline Titanium Dioxide p.wder in a p.asma Jet and Its Characterization

Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide p.wder was synthesized by in-flight oxidation of titanium dihydride （TiH2） p.wder in a thermal p.asma jet. TiH2 p.wder was injected into the thermal p.asma jet and allowed to react with oxygen injected downstream the jet. Characteriza- tion of the p.wder by various analytical tools indicated that the p.wder consisted of nano-sized titanium dioxide p.rticles consisting p.edominantly of the anatase p.ase. It is suggested that the thermo-chemistry of the oxidation p.ocess contributes significantly to the formation of nano-sized titania. The large energy released during the oxidation p.ocess dissociates the TiO2 p.rticles into TiO（g） and titanium vap.ur, which recombine downstream with oxygen and form nano p.rticles of TiO2.

p.at swamp. at Giral lignite field Western India： understanding the modelling of Barmer basin, Rajasthan, evolution through p.trological

The lignite samp.es collected from Giral lignite field of Barmer basin have been subjected to p.trological investigation. The data generated has been discussed to understand the evolution of the p.leomires of these lignites. The p.esent study reveals that these low rank.C coals are chiefly comp.sed of huminite group.macerals, mainly telohuminite and detrohuminite, while lip.inite and inertinite group.macerals occur in subordinate amounts. Not much variation in the maceral comp.sition from Seam-I to Seam-VIII has been observed. Barmer lignites are characterized by a very high GI （〉10） and moderate Tp. indicating top.genous mire in the basin which was p.rmanently flooded. The GI and Tp. values and the p.trograp.y-based facies critical models indicate that these lignites originated mostly under wet forest swamp.to clastic marsh having telmatic to limno-telmatic conditions with a moderate rate of subsidence and a very slow fall in ground water table. Further, the GWI and VI values are suggestive of mesotrop.ic to rheotrop.ic hydrological conditions having the dominance of herbaceous to marginal aquatic vegetation. There were sp.lls of p.riodic drowning of p.at esp.cially during the formation of Seam-VII. Moderately high concentration of calcium in these lignites along with the p.esence of framboidal p.rite indicate enhanced sulp.ate-reducing bacterial activity p.esent in carbonate and sulp.ate-rich waters in the basin during p.at formation.

Op.imal harvesting of a p.ey-p.edator model with variable carrying cap.city

This work.deals with a p.ey-p.edator model in an environment where the carrying cap.cities are assumed to be variable with time and one sp.cies feeds up.n the other. Indep.ndent harvesting efforts are ap.lied in either sp.cies and asymmetrical intraguild p.edation occurs. A common resource is consumed by two comp.ting sp.cies and at the same time p.edator also consumes the p.ey. At first we discuss the model under constant carrying cap.city and mak. the conclusion that no limit cycle exists in this case. Then we discuss the model without intrasp.cific comp.tition. Our main concern is to cover the above mentioned two cases together, i.e. the model with variable carrying cap.city and intrasp.cific comp.tition. We determine the steady states and examine the dynamical behavior. We also analyze the local and global stability of the interior equilibrium by Routh-Hurwitz criterion and a suitable Lyap.nov function resp.ctively. A Hop. bifur- cation occurs with resp.ct to a p.rameter which is the ratio of p.edator＇s and p.ey＇s intrinsic growth rate. The p.ssibility of bionomic equilibrium has been considered. The op.imal harvest p.licy is formulated and solved with p.ntryagin＇s maximum p.incip.e. Some numerical simulations are given to exp.ain most of the analytical results.
