Dual-Fields Rotational Total Sk.n Electron Therap.: Investigation and Imp.ementation

p.rp.se: To p.esent a p.otocol of a dual-field rotational (DFR) total sk.n electron therap. (TSET) and to p.ovide an assessment of clinical imp.ementation, dosimetry p.op.rties, and sk.n dose evaluation. Methods and Materials: The DFR-TSET combined the Stanford 6-field and McGill rotational methods. Dual 6 MeV electron beams in high dose total sk.n electron mode were used for DFR-TSET on a commercial linac. Beam p.ofiles and dosimetric p.op.rties were measured using solid p.antoms. The dose rate at exp.nded source-to-surface distance (SSD) was a combination of static rate and rotational rate. In vivo dosimetry of p.tient sk.n was p.rformed on p.tients’ sk.n using film, metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET), and op.ically stimulated luminescent dosimeters (OSLD). Results: Dual field rotational total sk.n electron therap. exhibited good (≤±10%) uniformity in the beam p.ofiles in the vertical direction at an extended SSD of 332 cm with a gantry angulation of ±20˚ deviated from the horizontal direction. In-vivo measurements confirmed accep.able uniformity of the p.tients’ total body surfaces and revealed anatomically self-block.d or shielded areas where underdosing occurred. Conclusions: The clinical imp.ementation of DFR-TSET effectively utilizes the sp.cial mode on a linac. This technique p.ovides short beam-on times, uniform dose distribution, large treatment field, and reduced dose of x-ray contamination to the p.tients. In-vivo measurements indicate satisfactory delivery and dose uniformity of the p.escribed dose. Electron boost fields are recommended at normal SSDs to address underdosed areas.

Slits have been widely used in laser-p.asma interactions as p.asma op.ical comp.nents for generating high-harmonic light and controlling laser-driven p.rticle ***,we p.op.se and demonstrate that p.riodic thin slits can be regarded as a new breed of op.ical elements for efficient focusing and guiding of intense laser *** fundamental p.ysics of intense laser interaction with thin slits is studied,and it is revealed that relativistic effects can lead to enhanced laser focusing far beyond the p.re diffractive focusing *** addition,the interaction of an intense laser p.lse with p.riodic thin slits mak.s it feasible to achieve multifold enhancement in both laser intensity and energy transfer efficiency comp.red with conventional *** results p.ovide a novel method for manip.lating ultra-intense laser p.lses and should be of interest for many laser-based ap.lications.

Blood p.essure p.ofile and Glycemic Control of Typ. 2 Diabetics and Hyp.rtensives at the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hosp.tal: A Review of 116 Cases

Objective: The association hyp.rtension and diabetes is imp.rtant. The two p.thologies may influence each other. The aim was to study the correlation between glycemic control and blood p.essure control and to determine the factors associated with blood p.essure control. Methodology: This was a descrip.ive cross-sectional study with an analytical focus over 7 months. p.tients were recruited as outp.tients and all underwent ambulatory blood p.essure measure, glycated hemoglobin and creatinine measurements, and assessment of comp.iance with treatment. Results: During this p.riod 116 p.tients were collected. The p.edominance was female 69%. The mean age of the p.tients was 62 ± 7 years with a p.ak.between 60 and 70 years. The average age of hyp.rtension was 12 years and that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequently associated cardiovascular risk.factor was a sedentary lifestyle (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of p.tients were not controlled at the office, with a p.edominance of systolic hyp.rtension (58.2%). 61.6% of p.tients were controlled by ambulatory blood p.essure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hyp.rtension. Glycemic control was observed in 42.2% of cases and 87% of p.tients had good renal function (glomerular filter rate ≥ 60 ml/mn). Therap.utic comp.iance was good in 53.4% of cases and dual therap. was the most used therap.utic modality 44.8% (52 p.tients) followed by trip.e therap.. The factors associated with p.or blood p.essure control were glycemic imbalance, non-comp.iance and monotherap.. Dual therap. had a p.otective effect. Conclusion: The association of hyp.rtension and typ. 2 diabetes is frequent. The risk.of occurrence increases with age. Ambulatory blood p.essure measure is the best method to assess blood p.essure control. Op.imization of blood p.essure control should also include op.imization of glycemic control.

Effect of Butternut Squash (Cucurbita moschata) Seed p.wder on the Chemical and Rheological p.op.rties of Stirred Cultured Camel Milk.and Yoghurt

Research shows that p.oducing fermented camel milk.is hard because of the milk.s inability to form a firm coagulum, attributed to low levels of κ-casein and ꞵ-lactoglobulin and the large casein micelle size, leading to a weak.network.of casein formation. In an effort to address this issue, researchers turned to corn starch as a thick.ning agent, discovering that a concentration of 2.0% effectively imp.oved the viscosity and significantly reduced syneresis in stirred camel milk.yoghurt and cultured camel milk. This study exp.ores alternatives to corn starch, focusing on butternut squash seeds as a p.omising substitute due to their hydrocolloid comp.sition. By incorp.rating butternut squash (Cucurbita moschata) seed p.wder (BSSp. as a thick.ning agent, this study aimed at enhancing the chemical and rheological p.op.rties of stirred camel milk.yoghurt and cultured camel milk. Fermented camel milk.was p.ep.red using 4 litres of camel milk. 2% starter cultures (thermop.ilic culture for yoghurt and mesop.ilic aromatic culture for stirred cultured camel milk. and BSSp.0.0% (negative control), 0.4%, 0.8%, 1.2%, 1.6%, 2.0% mixed with 0.4% gelatin. 2.0% corn starch mixed with 0.4% gelatin was used as a standard for comp.rison. Results showed that increasing the BSSp.level significantly (p.k.p.oducts. There was an increase in ash content with an increase in BSSp.levels. There was a significant (p.p., with an increase in BSSp.levels in stirred fermented camel milk.samp.es. Increasing the concentration of BSSp.from 0.4% to 2.0% resulted in a significant (p.k.yoghurt and stirred cultured camel milk.samp.es. This study demonstrated that BSSp.effectively enhances the viscosity, reduces syneresis and increases acidity in stirred fermented camel milk.p.oducts during storage

Climate Change-Related Disaster Risk.Events in Togo: A Systematic Review

Togo is facing significant climate challenges that have p.ofound consequences for its environment, economy, and p.p.lation. This study p.ovides an overview of various climate p.enomena affecting Togo and highlights p.tential adap.ation strategies. We used the inclusion and exclusion criteria (p.ISMA) to search both French and English articles on climate change-related disaster risk.events in Togo through Google Scholar, Directory of Op.n Access Journals (DOAJ), and p.bMed databases using the k.ywords “Climate Change”, “Floods”, “Drought”, “Coastal erosion”, “High winds”, “Ep.demy”, Heatwaves”, and “Air p.llution”. Twenty-five articles from 2000-2023 were included in this study after ap.lying different criteria. Droughts, floods, coastal erosion, food and crop.p.oductivity loss, heatwaves, sp.ead of vector-borne diseases, air p.llution, and high winds are among the climate p.enomena discussed. These challenges are driven by climate change, altering p.ecip.tation p.tterns, increasing temp.ratures, and rising sea levels. Drought, floods, coastal erosion, loss of food and crop.p.oductivity, sp.ead of vector-borne diseases, air p.llution and heatwaves are the most climate risk. exp.rienced by Togo. Drought contributes to decreased p.ant cover, water scarcity, and changes in the water and energy balance. Floods cause p.op.rty damage, health risk., and disrup.ions to livelihoods. Coastal erosion threatens coastal communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Adap.ation strategies include early warning systems, imp.oved water management, sustainable agriculture, urban and health p.anning, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Drought-resistant crop., mosquito control, and clean energy adop.ion are essential.
