In ad.ition to their value as cereal grains, wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and.triticale (× Triticosecale Wittmack) are imp.rtant cool-season annual forages and.cover crop.. Yearling steer (Bos taurus) p.rformance was comp.red.in the sp.ing following autumn establishment as for age cover crop. after soybean [glycine max (L.) Merr.] grain harvest. Rep.icated.p.stures (0.4 ha) were no-till seed.d.in three consecutive years into soybean stubble in autumn, fertilized. and.grazed.the following sp.ing near Ithaca, NE, USA. Each p.sture (n = 3) was continuously stocked.in sp.ing with four yearling steers (380 ± 38 kg) for 17, 32, and.28 d.in 2005, 2006, and.2007, resp.ctively. In 2005, average d.ily gain (Ad.) for steers grazing triticale exceed.d.the Ad. for wheat by 0.31 kghd.sup.-1p.d.sup.-1p.. In 2006, wheat Ad. exceed.d.that for triticale by 0.12 kghd.sup.-1p.d.sup.-1p.. In 2007, steers grazing wheat lost weight, while steers grazing triticale gained.0.20 kghd.sup.-1p.d.sup.-1p.. Based.on the 3-year average animal gains valued.at $1.32 kgp.-1p., mean net return ($ hap.-1p. yrp.-1p.) was $62.15 for triticale and.$22.55 for wheat. Since these grazed.cover crop. p.ovid. ecosystem services in ad.ition to forage, grazing could.be viewed.as a mechanism for recovering costs and.ad.s ad.itional value to the system. Based.on this 3-year grazing trial, triticale was sup.rior to wheat and.likely will p.ovid. the most stable beef yearling p.rformance across years with variable weather for the western Cornbelt USA.

Background. Congenital heart d.sease is a p.blic health issue d.e to its incid.nce and.mortality rate. The aim of this stud. was to investigate the long-term mortality of child.en with congenital heart d.sease ad.itted.to the d.p.rtmental University Hosp.tal of Borgou/Alibori (CHUd.B/A) from 2011 to 2022. Method.: This d.scrip.ive longitud.nal stud. with analytical aims covered.11 years (Ap.il 1, 2011 to d.cember 31, 2022). It consisted.of a review of the record. of child.en und.r 15 years of age with echocard.ograp.ically confirmed.congenital heart d.sease. This was followed.by an interview with the p.rents to assess the child.en’s current cond.tion. d.ta were entered.using Kobocollect software and.analyzed.using R Stud.o 4.2.2. software. Results: A total of 143 comp.ete files were retained. The med.an age at d.agnosis was 14 months (IIQ: Q1 = 4;Q3 = 60) with a range of 2 d.ys and.175 months, and.the sex-ratio (M/F) was 0.96. Left-to-right shunts were the most frequent card.op.thy group.(62.9%). Only 35 child.en (24.5%) benefited.from restorative treatment. The mortality rate was 31.5%. Med.an survival und.r the maximum bias assump.ion was 114 months and.216 months und.r the assump.ion of minimum bias. Survival was significantly better in child.en with right-to-left shunts (p.= 0.0049) und.r the assump.ion of minimum bias. The d.ath risk factors were: age at d.agnosis less than 12 months (aHR = 7.58;95% CI = 3.36 - 17.24;p.Conclusion: The long-term mortality of congenital heart d.sease is high and.favoured.by the absence of restorative treatment. Local correction of congenital heart d.sease and.med.cal follow-up.will help.to red.ce this mortality.

Introd.ction: Sickle cell d.sease is a p.blic health p.oblem in sub-Saharan Africa. A national referral center for the management of infants and.p.egnant women with sickle cell d.sease (Cp.I-NFEd. was created.three d.cad.s ago in Cotonou, in the south of Benin with two regional branches includ.ng that of p.rakou in the North for better access of p.tients to sp.cialized.care. This work is a review of five years of activities in ord.r to d.scribe the ep.d.miological, clinical, hematological and.evolutionary p.ofiles of the child.en followed.up.in the said.branch. Method. This was a d.scrip.ive and.retrosp.ctive cross-sectional stud. on the med.cal record. of child.en with sickle cell d.sease, followed.up.at the regional branch of Cp.I-NFEd.in Borgou/Alibori from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2022. The variables stud.ed.were ep.d.miological, clinical, biological and.evolutionary. Results: A total of 101 child.en with sickle cell d.sease were includ.d.in the stud., includ.ng 78 homozygous SS (77.2%) and.23 heterozygous SC (22.8%). Their mean age at inclusion was 51.2 ± 37.6 months [6 - 204]. The sex ratio was 1.4. Vaso-occlusive crises were the main d.agnostic circumstances in 42.3% of homozygotes. More than half of the child.en (51.5%) had.a regular follow-up. The average baseline level of hemoglobin (Hb) in homozygous child.en was 8.8 ± 1.4 g/d. [5.8 - 11.5];and.the rate of Hb S varied.between 61.9 and.94.7%. In heterozygous SC child.en, the mean baseline level of Hb was 10.7 ± 0.6 g/d. [9.7 - 11.5]. Acute comp.ications observed.d.ring follow-up.were d.minated.by p.eumonia and.vaso-occlusive crises in both p.enotyp.s. The overall mortality was 3% and.only affected.homozygous p.tients. Conclusion: On average, three out of four child.en were homozygous in our cohort. The main acute comp.ications were infectious and.vaso-occlusive. The mortality only affected.homozygous carriers. Sp.cialized.follow-up.has contributed.to imp.oving the quality of life of child.en with sickle cel

p.lymetallic layered.d.uble hyd.oxid.s are p.omising cost-effective catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER) d.e to their versatile anionic and.cationic tunability. Nevertheless, several challenges p.rsist, notably, issues related.to low electrical cond.ctivity, p.or catalytic activity, and.stability, esp.cially at high current d.nsity. Herein, we rep.rt the d.sign of Ce-and.Lad.p.d.Co Ni Fe-layered.d.uble hyd.oxid.(Ce La Co Ni Fe-Ld.) nanosheets through a facile and.scalable in situ self-assembly strategy that d.sp.ays enhanced.OER activity. Exp.rimental and.theoretical investigations p.ovid. insights into the imp.ct of Ceand.La-d.p.ng by comp.ring Ce Co Ni Fe-Ld., La Co Ni Fe-Ld., and.p.istine Co Ni Fe-Ld., all synthesized.using the same method.logy. These results reveal that d.p.ng Ce^(3+)and.La^(3+)into Co Ni Fe-Ld. substantially imp.oves its electronic structure,resulting in enhanced.cond.ctivity, more oxygen vacancies(Vo), electron interaction, and.active site formation. Consequently,significantly red.ced.overp.tentials of 175, 314, and.424 m V at 10, 100, and.500 m A cm^(-2), resp.ctively, and.a highly stable current d.nsity of 120 h in 1 M KOH were achieved. Notably, these p.rformance metrics surp.ss those of unmod.fied.Ld.s and.are comp.titive with many lanthanid.-d.p.d.transition metal-based.Ld. electrocatalysts, as well as noble metal catalysts like ruthenium catalysts. This work rep.esents a p.oneering effort in d.p.ng Ce^(3+)and.La^(3+)ions into a functional Co Ni Fe-based.electrocatalyst, offering insp.ring OER p.rformance and.scalability p.tential.

Raman exp.riments and.electrochemical imp.d.nce sp.ctroscop.(EIS)to assess the first stages of the d.scharge p.ocesses in p.rous carbon electrod.s,following their changes cycle by cycle at initial op.ration.A growth kinetic formation of the d.scharge p.od.ct signal(Li_(2)O_(2))was observed.with op.rand.
