Ancient subsurface structure beneath crater Clavius:constraint by recent high-p.ecision gravity and top.grap.y data

With the increasing p.ecision of the GRAIL gravity field models and top.grap.y from LOLA, it is p.ssible to investigate the substructure beneath crater Clavius. An admittance between gravity and top.grap.y data is commonly used to estimate selenop.ysical p.rameters, including load ratio, crustal thickness and density, and elastic thickness. Not only a surface load, but also a subsurface load is considered in estimation. The algorithm of p.rticle swarm op.imization(p.O) with a swarm size of 400 is emp.oyed as *** indicate that the observed admittance is best-fitted by the modeled admittance based on a sp.erical shell model, which was p.oved to be unsatisfactory in the p.evious study. The best-fitted load ratio f is around-0.194. Such a small load ratio conforms to the direct p.op.rtion between the nearly uncomp.nsated top.grap.y and its corresp.nding negative gravity anomaly. It also indicates that a surface load dominates all the loads. Constrained within 2σSTD, a small crustal thickness(～30 km) and a crustal density of ～2587 kg m-3are found, quite close to the results from p.evious GRAIL research. Considering the well constrained crustal thickness and density, the best-fitted elastic thickness(～7 km) is rational. This result is slightly smaller than the p.evious study(～12 km). Such difference can be attributed to the difference in crustal density used and the p.ecision of gravity and top.grap.y data. Considering that the small difference between the modeled gravity anomaly and observations is quite small, a p.rameter inversed here could be an indicator of the subsurface structure beneath Clavius.

Trop.cal montane cloud forest is one of the ecosystems with the highest biomass worldwide, rep.esenting an imp.rtant carbon store. Globally its deforestation index is –1.1%, but in Mexico it is higher than –3%. Carbon estimates are scarce globally, p.rticularly in Mexico. The objective of this study was to simulate future land-cover scenarios for the Sierra Madre Oriental in Mexico, by analyzing p.st forest cover changes. Another objective was to estimate stored carbon in the two study areas. These objectives involve the generation of information that could be useful inp.ts to anti-deforestation p.blic p.licy such as the REDD+ strategy. Remote sensing was used to measure land cover change and estimate carbon stocks. Satellite images from 2015, 2000 and 1986 were used, and Dinamica EGO freeware generatedmodels of future p.ojections. Between 1986 and 2015, 5171 ha of forest were converted to p.sture. The annual deforestation rates were –1.5% for Tlanchinol and –1.3% for the San Bartolo Tutotep.c sites. Distance to roads and marginalization were highly correlated with deforestation. By 2030, an estimated 3608 ha of forest in these sites will have been converted to p.sture. Stored carbon was estimated at 16.35 Mg C ha-1 for the Tlanchinol site and 12.7 Mg C ha-1 for the San Bartolo site. In the Sierra Madre Oriental deforestation due to land cover change(–1.4%) is higher than levels rep.rted worldwide. Besides having high values of stored carbon(14.5 Mg C ha-1), these forests have high biodiversity. The models' outp.ts show that the deforestation p.ocess will continue if action is not taken to avoid the exp.nsion of livestock p.sturing. This can be done by p.ying incentives for forest conservation to the owners of the land. The results suggest that REDD+ is currently the most viable strategy for reducing deforestation rates in trop.cal montane cloud forests in Sierra Madre Oriental.

During the last years, our understanding of the mechanisms that control p.ant resp.nse to salt stress has been steadily p.ogressing. p.armacological studies have allowed the suggestion that the cytoskeleton may be involved in regulating such a resp.nse. Nevertheless, genetic evidence establishing that the cytoskeleton has a role in p.ant tolerance to salt stress has not been rep.rted yet. Here, we have characterized Arabidop.is T-DNA mutants for genes encoding p.oteins orthologous to p.efoldin （p.D） subunits 3 and 5 from yeast and mammals. In these organisms, p.D subunits, also known as Genes Involved in Microtubule biogenesis （GIM）, form a heterohexameric p.D comp.ex imp.icated in tubulin and actin folding. We show that, indeed, p.D3 and p.D5 can substitute for the loss of their yeast orthologs, as they are able to comp.ement yeast gim2Δ and gim5Δ mutants, resp.ctively. Our results indicate that p.d3 and p.d5 mutants have reduced levels of α- and β-tubulin comp.red to the wild-typ. p.ants when growing under both control and salt-stress conditions. In addition, p.d3 and p.d5 mutants disp.ay alterations in their develop.ental p.tterns and microtubule organization, and, more imp.rtantly, are hyp.rsensitive to high concentrations of NaCl but not of LiCl or mannitol. These results demonstrate that the cytoskeleton p.ays an essential role in p.ant tolerance to salt stress.

We p.esent a new method to derive line-of-sight acceleration observables from sp.cecraft radio tracking data. The observables can be used to estimate the mass and gravity of a natural satellite as a sp.cecraft flyby. The corresp.nding observation model adap.s to one-way and two/three-way tracking modes. As a test case for method validation and ap.lication, we estimated the mass and degree two gravity field for the Martian moon p.obos using simulated tracking data when the sp.cecraft Mars Exp.ess flew by p.obos on 2013 December 29. We have a few real tracking data during flyby and they will be used to confirm raw data simulation. The main p.rp.se of this p.p.r is to demonstrate the method of line-of-sight acceleration reduction from raw tracking data and the feasibility to estimate mass and gravity of a natural satellite using this typ. of observable. This novel method is p.tentially ap.licable to p.anet and asteroid gravity field studies combined with Dop.ler tracking data.

Background： Dairy cows can readily overconsume dietary energy during most of the p.ep.rtum p.riod, often leading to higher p.ep.rtal concentrations of insulin and glucose and excessive body fat dep.sition. Although transcrip.ional regulation of the adip.se resp.nse to energy availability is well established in non-ruminants, such regulation in cow adip.se tissue dep.ts remains p.orly ***： Effects of ad-libitum access to high [HIGH; 1.62 Mcal/kg of dry matter（DM）] or adequate（CON; 1.35 Mcal/kg of DM） dietary energy for 8 wk on mesenteric（MAT） and subcutaneous（SAT） adip.se tissue transcrip. p.ofiles were assessed in non-p.egnant non-lactating Holstein dairy cows using a 13,000-sequence annotated bovine oligonucleotide microarray. Statistical analysis revealed 409 and 310 differentially exp.essed genes（DEG） due to tissue and diet. Bioinformatics analysis was conducted using the Dynamic Imp.ct Ap.roach（DIA） with the KEGG p.thway database. Comp.red with SAT, MAT had more active biological p.ocesses related to adip.se tissue accumulation（adip.nectin secretion） and signs of p.o-inflammatory p.ocesses due to adip.se tissue exp.nsion and macrop.age infiltration（generation of ceramides）. Feeding the HIGH diet led to changes in m RNA exp.ession of genes associated with cell hyp.rtrop.y（regucalcin）, activation of adip.genesis（p.osp.olip.d p.osp.atase 1）,insulin signaling activation（neuraminidase 1） and angiogenesis（semap.orin 4 G, p.exin B1）.
