Total p (Tp), total participate p (pp), total dissolved p (TDp), molybdatereactive p (MRp) and dissolved organic p (DOp) were determined in waters from pipe-drains (at 65-cmdepth) from the Broadbalk Experiment at Rothamsted Research, UK. Average Tpand pp exceeded 1 mgL^(-1) in about half of the 12 plots receiving superphosphate for the 5 measurements taken betweenDecember 2000 and April 2001. Ranging between 33.8% and 87.3% of Tp, pp was the largest p fractionin drainage waters, with DOp, ranging from 0.5% to 26.2% of Tp, being the smallest fraction Meanproportions of pp, MRp and DOp in Tp in drainage waters were 63.4%, 32.5% and 4.1%, *** findings support previous findings that p losses from soil to drainage waters were muchlargerthan previously thought, and could therefore make a significant contribution to eutrophication.

The alkylation of toluene with methanol to selective formation of p-xylene has been systematically studied. ZsM-12 （MTW）/ZsM-5 co-crystalline zeolite in 40：60 proportions have been synthesized by the same molar gel composition, but at different temperatures and periods than that of ZsM-12 and ZsM-5, separately. All the prepared samples are characterized by XRD, sEM, BET, and XRF. The activity of toluene alkylation was investigated with a mixture of toluene and methanol as a feed over the ZsM-12, ZsM-12/ZsM-5 co-crystalline, ZsM-5, and physical mixture of ZsM-12/ZsM-5. From characterization, it is observed that the ZsM-12/ZsM-5 co-crystalline material is different from that of ZsM-12, ZsM-5, and their physical mixture. Further, the ZsM-12/ZsM-5 co-crystalline zeolite produces the highest content of xylene and has better selectivity for p-xylene than ZsM-12, ZsM-5, and their physical mixture.

spinal cord injury results in paralysis, sensory disturbances, sphincter dysfunction, and multiple systemic secondary conditions, most arising from autonomic dysregulation. All this produces profound negative psychosocial implications for affected people, their families, and their communities;the financial costs can be challenging for their families and health institutions. Treatments aimed at restoring the spinal cord after spinal cord injury, which have been tested in animal models or clinical trials, generally seek to counteract one or more of the secondary mechanisms of injury to limit the extent of the initial damage. Most published works on structural/functional restoration in acute and chronic spinal cord injury stages use a single type of treatment: a drug or trophic factor, transplant of a cell type, and implantation of a biomaterial. Despite the significant benefits reported in animal models, when translating these successful therapeutic strategies to humans, the result in clinical trials has been considered of little relevance because the improvement, when present, is usually insufficient. Until now, most studies designed to promote neuroprotection or regeneration at different stages after spinal cord injury have used single treatments. Considering the occurrence of various secondary mechanisms of injury in the acute and sub-acute phases of spinal cord injury, it is reasonable to speculate that more than one therapeutic agent could be required to promote structural and functional restoration of the damaged spinal cord. Treatments that combine several therapeutic agents, targeting different mechanisms of injury, which, when used as a single therapy, have shown some benefits, allow us to assume that they will have synergistic beneficial effects. Developing effective and long-term treatment strategies for rare and complex neurodegenerative diseases is challenging. One of the major roadblocks is the extensive heterogeneity among patients. This hinders understanding the underlying disease-causing mechanisms and building solutions that have implications for a broad spectrum of patients. One potential solution is to develop personalized medicine approaches based on strategies that target the most prevalent cellular events that are perturbed in patients. Especially in patients with a known genetic mutation, it may be possible to understand how these mutations contribute to problems that lead to neurodegeneration. protein–protein interaction analyses offer great advantages for revealing how proteins interact, which cellular events are primarily involved in these interactions, and how they become affected when key genes are mutated in patients. This line of investigation also suggests novel druggable targets for patients with different mutations. Here, we focus on alsin and spastin, two proteins that are identified as “causative” for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and hereditary spastic paraplegia, respectively, when mutated. Our review analyzes the protein interactome for alsin and spastin, the canonical pathways that are primarily important for each protein domain, as well as compounds that are either Food and Drug Administration–approved or are in active clinical trials concerning the affected cellular pathways. This line of research begins to pave the way for personalized medicine approaches that are desperately needed for rare neurodegenerative diseases that are complex and heterogeneous.

Variations in microbial biomass C (MB-C),N (MB-N) and p (MB-p) along a gradient of different dominant vegeta- tion covers (natural forest,mixed deciduous forest,disturbed savanna and grassland ecosystems) in dry tropical soils of Vindhyan plateau,India were studied from January 2005 to December *** water holding capacity,organic C,total N,total p and soil moisture content were comparatively higher in forest soils than in the savanna and grassland *** different study sites the mean annual MB-C,MB-N and MB-p at 0-15 cm soil depth varied from 312.05 ± 4.22 to 653.40 ± 3.17,32.16 ± 6.25 to 75.66 ± 7.21 and 18.94 ± 2.94 to 30.83 ± 23.08 μg g ?1 dry soil,*** all the investigated sites,the maximum MB-C,MB-N and MB-p occurred during the dry period (summer season) and the minimum in wet period (rainy season).In the present study,soil MB-C,MB-N and MB-p were higher at the forest sites compared to savanna and grassland *** differences in MB-C,MB-N and MB-p were significant (p sites and *** MB-C (p p p (p positively correlated with organic C,while the relationship between soil moisture and MB-C,MB-N and MB-p (p p p spectively) was *** decreasing order of MB-C,MB-N and MB-p along study ecosystems was natural forest > mixed deciduous forest > savanna > *** results suggested that deforestation and land use practices (conversion of forest into savanna and grassland) caused the alterations in soil properties,which as a consequence,led to reduction in soil nutrients and MB-C,MB-N and MB-p in the soil of disturbed sites (grassland and savanna) compared to undisturbed forest ecosystems.
