Background Retinopathy of prematurity(ROp)is generally considered to be more frequent in males than in ***,it is not known whether sex differences in ROp affect all degrees of the condition,are global and have changed as neonatology has *** aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies addressing sex differences in the risk of developing *** pubMed/MEDLINE and Embase databases were *** frequentist,random-effects risk ratio(RR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)were *** model averaged(BMA)meta-analysis was used to calculate the Bayes factors(Bfs).The Bf10 is the ratio of the probability of the data under the alternative hypothesis(H1)over the probability of the data under the null hypothesis(H0).Results We included 205 studies(867,252 infants).frequentist meta-analysis showed a positive association between male sex and severe ROp(113 studies,RR=1.14,95%CI=1.07–1.22)but no association with any ROp(144 studies,RR=1.00,95%CI=0.96–1.03).BMA showed extreme evidence in favor of H1 for severe ROp(Bf10=71,174)and strong evidence in favor of H0 for any ROp(Bf10=0.05).The association between male sex and severe ROp remained stable over time and was present only in cohorts from countries with a high or high-middle sociodemographic *** Our study confirms the presence of a male disadvantage in severe ROp but not in less severe forms of the *** are variations in the sex differences in ROp,depending on geographical location and sociodemographic level of the countries.

The sessile drop method was applied to the experimental investigation of the wetting and spreading behaviors of liquid Mg drops on pure Ni *** comparison,the experiments were performed in two variants:(1)using the Capillary purification(Cp)procedure,which allows the non-contact heating and squeezing of a pure oxide-free Mg drop;(2)by classical Contact Heating(CH)*** high-temperature tests were performed under isothermal conditions(Cp:760℃for 30 s;CH:715℃for 300 s)using Ar+5 wt%H_(2) *** the sessile drop tests,images of the Mg/Ni couples were recorded by CCD cameras(57 fps),which were then applied to calculate the contact angles of metal/substrate *** and transmission electron microscopy analyses,both coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,were used for detailed structural characterization of the solidified *** was found that an oxide-free Mg drop obtained by the Cp procedure showed a wetting phenomenon on the Ni substrate(an average contact angleθfollowed by fast spreading and good wetting over the Ni substrate(θ_((Cp))~20°in 5 s)to form a final contact angle ofθ_(f(Cp))~18°.In contrast,a different wetting behavior was observed for the CH procedure,where the unavoidable primary oxide film on the Mg surface blocked the spreading of liquid Mg showing apparently non-wetting behavior after 300 s contact at the test ***,in both cases,the deep craters formed in the Ni substrates under the Mg drops and significant change in the structure of initially pure Mg drops to Mg-Ni alloys suggest a strong dissolution of Ni in liquid Mg and apparent values of the final contact angles measured for the Mg/Ni system.

The molecular engineering of fluorescent organic/polymeric materials, specifically those emitting in the deep red to near-infrared spectrum, is vital for advancements in optoelectronics and biomedicine. perylene diimide(pDI), a well-known fluorescent scaffold, offers high thermal and photophysical stability but suffers from fluorescence quenching in solid or aggregate states due to intense π-π interactions. To mitigate this, simple and versatile methods for strong pDI aggregate emission without extensive synthetic demands are highly desirable but still lacking. Here, we report a straightforward strategy to enhance the solid-state emission of pDI by introducing certain degree of through-space charge transfer(TSCT) via controlled radical polymerization,which can efficiently distort the typical face-to-face pDI stacking, enabling greatly enhanced deep red emission. This is achieved by growing electron-donating star-shape styrenic(co)polymers from a multidirectional electron-accepting pDI initiator. The incorporation of polycyclic aromatic monomers further shifted the emission into the near-infrared region, albeit with a reduced intensity. Overall, the emission of the pDI-based TSCT polymers can be systematically manipulated by leveraging the balance between pDI stacking and the TSCT degree, as confirmed by both experimental study and theoretical calculations. Our approach circumvents complex synthetic procedures, offering highly emissive materials with large Stokes shifts and showing broad potential for optoelectronic technology.

Genetic susceptibility to metabolic associated fatty liver disease(MAfLD)is complex and poorly *** characterization of the genetic background of hepatic fat content would provide insights into disease etiology and causality of risk *** performed genome-wide association study(GWAS)on two noninvasive definitions of hepatic fat content:magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction(MRI-pDff)in 16,050 participants and fatty liver index(fLI)in 388,701 participants from the United Kingdom(UK)Biobank(UKBB).Heritability,genetic overlap,and similarity between hepatic fat content phenotypes were analyzed,and replicated in 10,398 participants from the University Medical Center Groningen(UMCG)Genetics Lifelines Initiative(UGLI).Meta-analysis of GWASs of MRI-pDff in UKBB revealed five statistically significant loci,including two novel genomic loci harboring CREB3L1(rs72910057-T,p=5.40E−09)and GCM1(rs1491489378-T,p=3.16E−09),respectively,as well as three previously reported loci:pNpLA3,TM6Sf2,and *** of fLI in UKBB identified 196 genome-wide significant loci,of which 49 were replicated in UGLI,with top signals in ZpR1(p=3.35E−13)and fTO(p=2.11E−09).Statistically significant genetic correlation(rg)between MRI-pDff(UKBB)and fLI(UGLI)GWAS results was found(rg=0.5276,p=1.45E−03).Novel MRI-pDff genetic signals(CREB3L1 and GCM1)were replicated in the fLI *** identified two novel genes for MRI-pDff and 49 replicable loci for *** a difference in hepatic fat content assessment between MRI-pDff and fLI,a substantial similar genetic architecture was *** is identified as an easy and reliable approach to study hepatic fat content at the population level.

文章利用科学结构图谱分析方法首次绘制了创新科学结构图谱,以被专利引用的基本科学指标数据库(ESI)高被引论文为数据基础,揭示了世界前沿基础研究对技术创新发展的影响情况;发现其中对技术创新发展起到推动作用的热点方向,并对比中美两国在这些热点方向上的表现,为科学决策提供有效的数据支撑。分析发现:被专利引用较高的论文主要集中在新生物技术与生物医疗技术、新兴信息技术、能源与材料这些可能引发颠覆性技术创新的基础研究领域;中国被专利引用的高被引论文增势明显,5年累计增长超过60%,但数量还是不到美国的50%;中国在不少与技术创新关联紧密的热点研究方向中的论文数量高于美国,但被专利引用的论文数量却通常低于美国;美国影响技术创新的基础研究内容更多的是引领产业变革方面的研发活动,并且有大量企业参与。

Sewage water in agriculture threatens human health and soil ecosystems through metal *** show promise as bioindicators of soil health due to their abundance and position in soil food ***-polluted water decreased abundance of certain nematode groups and Sigma Maturity *** pollution positively affected nematode groups with r-selected life *** water has been inappropriately used in agriculture,posing possible threats to human health and the soil ecosystems by its constituent pollutants,especially heavy *** evaluation of its influences on soil biomes needs to consider the response of soil *** soil organisms,nematodes are seen as the best promising candidates for bioindicators of soil *** in,we collected soil samples from fresh water irrigated field from three sites(S1,S2 and S3)and sewage water irrigated distance gradient(5 m-40 m),to assess the influence of metal(Cu,Zn,Cd,Mn,pb)polluted water on various characteristics of nematode *** results indicated that the heavy metals decreased the abundance of C-p3 nematodes,herbivores,and predatory nematodes as well as sigma maturity index,whereas,C-p1,C-p2,bacterivore and fungivore nematodes abundance and diversity positively responded to the metal ***,nematode genera with r-selected life cycle were positively affected and those with K-selected life cycle were negatively affected by metal *** nematode community has potential to be used as indicator of pollution stress in agricultural soils to check soil health and sustainability.
