Colorectal carcinoma （CRC） is one of the leading causes of cancer death worldwide. In the last decade, the addition of irinotecan and oxaliplatin to standard fluorouracil-based chemotherapy regimens have set the new benchmark of survival for patients with metastatic CRC at approximately 20 too. despite these advances in the management of CRC, there is a strong medical need for more effective and well-tolerated therapies. The dependence of tumor growth and metastasis on blood vessels makes angiogenesis a rational target for therapy. One of the major pathways involved in this process is the vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and its receptors （VEGFR）. In 2004, the first agent targeting angiogenesis, bevacizumab （BV）, was approved as an adjunct to first-line cytotoxic treatment of metastatic CRC. The role of BV as part of adjuvant treatment and in combination with other targeted therapies is the subject of ongoing trials. However, BV is associated with an increase in the risk of arterial thromboembolic events, hypertension and gastrointestinal perforations and its use must be cautious. Novel VEGFR TK inhibitors with different ranges of nanomolar potencies, selectivities, and pharmacokinetic properties are entering phase 111 trials for the treatment of cancer. Conversely, one of these novel agents, vatalanib, has been shown not to confer survival benefit in first and second-line treatment of advanced CRC. The basis of these findings is being extensively evaluated. Ongoing and new well-designed trials will define the optimal clinical application of the actual antiangiogenic agents, and, on the other hand, intensive efforts in basic research will identify new agents with different antiangiogenic approaches for the treatment of CRC. In this review we discuss and highlight current and future approaches in angiogenic targeting for CRC.

The temporal decay of the oxidation of methane(CH4-O2reaction)over palladium supported on silica is determined experimentally at different temperatures,comparing the results with those of various classical models which show the behavior of the adsorbed phase as the cause of the *** effect is visualized through Monte Carlo simulations of the CH4-O2reaction on a mixed lattice whose partial poisoning,due to the configuration of the OH groups on the surface of the adsorbate,is translated into a gradual decay of the reaction’s activity.

In this paper, the problem of load transportation and robust mitigation of payload oscillations in uncertain tower-cranes is addressed. This problem is tackled through a control scheme based on the philosophy of active-disturbance-rejection. Here, a general disturbance model built with two dominant components: polynomial and harmonic, is stated. Then, a disturbance observer is formulated through state-vector augmentation of the tower-crane model. Thus, better performance of estimations for system states and disturbances is achieved. The control law is then formulated to actively reject the disturbances but also to accommodate the closed-loop system dynamics even under system uncertainty. The proposed control schema is validated via experimentation using a small-scale tower-crane,and compared with other relevant active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)-based techniques. The experimental results show that the proposed control scheme is robust under parametric uncertainty of the system, and provides improved attenuation of payload oscillations even under system uncertainty.

Hyperspectral images are multidimensional massive sets of information that have shown a great potential for different kind of applications as urban mapping,environmental management,vegetation and crops supervision and mineral ***,due to its high dimensional nature and the high variability of the spectral information,the dimensionality reduction process is one of the main challenges in processing hyperspectral *** aim of dimensionality reduction is to eliminate redundant information and simplify the subsequent processes of classification and the search of *** this context,several dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed,but most of them are not flexible enough to deal with the particular features of the hyperspectral *** this way,the use of intelligent methods as neural networks and specially an unsupervised approach as self-organized maps,may improve the dimensionality reduction stage and the final classification *** paper proposes an unsupervised method for the dimensionality reduction of hyperspectral images based on Kohonen self-organized maps,which,compared with other traditional methods such as principal component analysis(pCA)and wavelet decomposition,provides better classification *** results provided in this paper use an RBF(radial basis function)*** average,the proposed method provides a 64%dimensionality reduction and an 88.5%classification *** results suggest that the dimensionality reduction algorithm based on self-organized maps is an efficient approach compared with other popular *** is due to the ability of self-organized maps to automatically detect(self-organizing)relationships within the set of input patterns,which provides flexibility to deal with the special features of the hyperspectral images.

A series of Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts were prepared with the impregnation method and characterized by means of the BET specific surface area, X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and Laser Raman spectroscopy. The Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts were activated by using H_2, 20%CH_4/H_2 or CH_4, respectively. There was no obvious difference between the activities of the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst activated by using the different activation methods for methane dry reforming. The catalytic properties of the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalysts with different Co loadings were also investigated. The optimized Co loading for the Co/γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst pretreated with 20% CH_4/H_2 is around 12%(mass fraction).
